While you are waiting for the train you can grab a bagel and some coffee at the Dunkin Donuts which is open 24 hrs a day. They have the automated ticket machine right at the front of the track. It is quick and easy to use. Trains almost always on time. One of the cheaper train lines to ride.

When I had an office in NYC, this station was my starting point for the commute to the NY City because they had the most options available for trains heading to Peen Station.

Honestly, it's kind of a mess over here. From the platform to the station house, everything just…read morelooks like it's falling apart. But it hasn't yet, and that's what's important. The station house has one bathroom, a few shelves of books, and a little newsstand; everything you need and nothing you don't. A few fresh coats of paint would honestly do wonders for the place, but it seems to be holding up. At the very least it smells clean enough. There's only one platform, and it looks similarly dilapidated, though serviceable. The neighborhood is nothing to write home about either, unless you're really into E-list historical landmarks.

Clean bright station with plenty of parking sets away. Ticket vending machines are easy to use and electronic scheduling board is easy to understand. Reminds me of a old town station you would expect in the Midwest or in the heartland. Took us about an hour in GCT and off peak means fares are less and seating is plentiful. 4.5 stars for the port Jefferson LIRR train station.

There are elevators though if you can't make the stairs or you have bags. I didn't check to see if there was an indoor waiting area. Most parts of the platform there is some sort of cover in case it's raining. There were also ticket machines on the platforms as well.
