    Mango Pineapple Smoothie
    Staci W.

This Cold Stone is in a great location near the Greenwood Park Mall. I have had some good and mixed visits to this particular location and with the business in general I typically get ice cream but I went with something lighter this time- a mango pineapple smoothie. We went after lunch at around 12:30 and there was one employee working with a family of four ahead of us. They ordered some smoothies and ice cream so it took some time for the employee to get it all done. The employee was kind and apologized for the wait- which I understood since she was alone. The smoothie was delicious and light! I like their ice cream as well and would recommend this chain for a nicer ice cream experience than your typical Dairy Queen.

When I dine out, I usually support independent/local businesses. But when it comes to ice cream, I bend that rule a bit. Sure, Greenwood has a local favorite, but the lines tend to be long. I was hoping to find some ice cream and another local spot in the mall looked like it had gone out of business, so I got on Yelp and found this place just across the street! This is the third Cold Stone Creamery I've been to in the metro area and I will say they have a consistency of quality that I appreciate. After grabbing a parking spot to the side of the building, I was greeted (as were all subsequent customers) when I entered. There is a large display counter with buckets of flavored ice creams and menus with lots of pre-determined combinations. You can also build your own (they build it according to your requests) with a wide variety of flavors and toppings. I decided to go with the Founder's Favorite made with Sweet Cream ice cream, pecans, brownie, chocolate fudge syrup, and caramel. Yum! I chose just a small serving in a cup after seeing the calories skyrocket as the servings get larger. I like that there are combos already determined. Sometimes, there are so many choices and not everything I pick seems to work well together. This is the third different combo I've tried and they all seem really good. Fortunately, someone came from the back of the business to help out as the hot day was making the line grow longer. The two employees seemed to work well together and soon had the line handled. Not the cheapest ice cream around, but because of all the ingredients and the "hands on" approach of mixing the ingredients together instead of just layering them, I don't mind occasionally stopping by and getting something tasty. Oreo and Sprinkles

Although I don't typically review restaurants that are of large chain scale; I figured I would review cold stone. I haven't had cold stone in so long, that's because I was vegan for about 2.5 years and they do not have any vegan options so that is a bummer. I try to shy away from cow milk products still but wanted to try cold stone since it had been so long. You can try free samples so that's nice. I decided on the Oreo flavor with sprinkles mixed in. I just ordered the small size and it was enough to share with one other person, but hey I don't usually eat big servings of ice cream so it is probably typically only enough for one person. It was tasty and creamy, but a little too sweet for me. Anyways, I'll probably go back at some point.

Service is slow. The young kids that work there are nice. The owner/older people there are quite rude

Who knew you could leave an ice cream shop feeling so bummed? Awful customer service. The young girls that work here just don't care at all.

We walked in and there were no other customers inside. Two men who I assume worked there were behind the counter, one on the phone. The other seemed to be doing a task or something. Neither of them acknowledged us but I made eye contact with both at some point during the first 30-45 seconds of being there. We started looking at flavors and I tried again to get an acknowledgment by saying "hello". No response from either man but the one on the phone looked at me again. I started walking towards my daughter and a man came from the Indian restaurant next door and went behind the ice cream counter to serve us but he offered no greeting at all either. I said "hello" to him and got the driest "hello" back. At this point I was not interested in whatever they were offering and my daughter asked if we should leave to which I replied yes and that's just what we did. Bummer because they had some interesting looking and sounding flavors so we would've definitely tried a few. I've never been in an ice cream shop with a bad vibe-until now. Not sure what was going on but it felt very unwelcoming and as if they didn't want us there. We were the only people in there so it made no sense that we would be disregarded from only a couple feet away. I may give them another chance because maybe it was just a bad day and I misread the situation, but I won't be rushing back. Makes me wonder why they spelled quality with a K, if you catch my drift. Seriously, that's how it felt.

It did take a while for someone to greet us, but once we ordered, our drinks arrived fairly quickly. We started with the Rockefeller oysters, which were very good. For our main course, we ordered the Pescado Dorado. We received our appetizer without issue, but after waiting about an hour and never receiving our entrée, we decided to ask for our check. When the bill arrived, we noticed we had been charged for the Pescado Dorado even though we had not received it. After we brought this to their attention, staff went to the back and then brought the dish out, explaining that the wrong seat number had been entered and the plate had been sitting in the kitchen. Essentially, we were presented with a meal that had been sitting in the back for an extended period of time and were still expected to pay for it. They did remove the entrée from our bill, which we appreciated. However, the manager never offered an apology and instead placed the blame on the bar staff for entering the wrong seat number. While we understand that mistakes happen especially on a busy holiday a sincere apology and better accountability would have gone a long way in improving the experience.
