I was not satisfied with their service. I ordered a chocolate ice cream and clearly stated that I wanted chocolate, which they provided. However, before my order was completed, I requested some peanuts and additional chocolate on top. The staff member did not seem pleased with this request and instead handed me the peanuts on the side, refusing to add chocolate syrup on top. I don't understand the issue--what would they lose by simply adding the syrup? Especially considering that I had not yet paid at that point. Talk about great customer service! Ordered an "Ours" Founder's Favorite with added Snickers and to our delight, three FULL bars of snickers were smashed in! Every bite of our ice cream had Snickers in it! The workers are wonderful, very attentive and polite. read more

Lousy customer relations. Employee needs to be reprimanded at least! Traveling with family and really wanted ice cream. We had empty cups and bags from lunch that we wanted to dispose of. There were no cans on sidewalk. There was a can right inside the door of Coldstone. My brother proceeded to put the trash in the trash can. The man behind the counter said to him"Hey man what are you doing? This ain't no trash dump. Very unacceptable rude behavior. We took our waste and left and will never return. Just came from here, unfortunately the service and the heat inside made it miserable. We were sweating by the time we left, and it took us 20 min to get our orders, which was only a shake and one mixed ice cream. There were 4 employees on, and only one working. Asked if there were any more waffle bowls, the girl insisted they had none of any kind but then finally went over to actually check and they had a waffle cone. Then proceeded to put the wrong ice cream in it. Once we said that isn't the right ice cream, she gave us a bad attitude with sass while making us a new cone. Situation could've been handled better with that. Then when we asked a question about sizes, she gave us more attitude and didn't respond and only pointed, not answering the actual question we had. If you've been to one, really, you've been to them all, so you'll certainly be familiar with the experience! I don't think I really need to do a CSC review, but I'm building up my Yelp resume this week...and I ate here tonight...so 'reviewed'! This one is particularly nice, in a corporate sense, cos you're right next to a Starbucks! Plus, you're within driving distance (really walking!) of Moe's and Chik-fil-A (for those fans out there). I like their Cake Batter ice cream, it's cloyingly sweet in a nauseatingly divine way! Their creams are dense and are candied enough to feel like they're going to make your dentist very wealthy on your next visit, hence, be prepared for the old gut to be weighed down for an hour after consumption! As usual you have your choice of candies, cookies, cake and confections to accompany or mix in to the sugar fest to fill your gullet! They also have a bit of Fro Yo for those a bit more calorically conscious. I'm more of a fan of Mom & Pop ice cream shoppes, since I like to support local vendors. As for corporate ice cream my choices, from first to third, is Ben & Jerry's (not in Lynchburg), Baskin Robbins (See: Also not in Lynchburg), then Cold Stone (Score!). I am not a resident of Lynchburg, VA and I went in with my daughter and ordered our 2 ice cream, my daughter wanted to have a chocolate bowl with sprinkles and they told her they did not have any, I could see them in the place where you can see the toppings, I asked were those bowls for sale or where they for decorations, she stated yes they were for sale, so I said why did you tell her that yall did not have more? So they put her ice cream in the waffle bowl, and I paid for mine and my daughters. I got into about 5 or 6 bites of mine and I saw a hair in my bowl, I pulled it our of my bowl and it was dripping with ice cream, It was mixed in with my ice cream, I went to the register and asked to speak to a manager and I was told that there was no one there, I told them what happened and asked for a refund, I was told that she did not have the access to provide me a refund, So I said that she needed to call the owner or something and I was told that she was out of town, I left that store and I received a call and I told the manager or owner that I would like him to mail me a check for my refund and he told me that he was not going to do that, So I am here to tell you that they are very bad business and I will tell everyone that I see and hear that goes there that they serve hair and will not give a refund. I am sick to my stomach that a business has done this, I am also going to file a complaint with the BBB and also call the health department about this, Serving hair in your food is nasty and I will not let this go. Granted it is only $13.00, but it is the customer service that is bad as well, I cam just floored that a owner would say that he will not issue a refund cause he does not think it was his employees hair. Great location, good ice cream, decent service. Two stars for the condition of the store. I remember when this location first opened and I don't think it has been deep cleaned or repairs made since. Ice cream case falling apart, panels falling off the wall, and ice cream on the walls in the seating area. Also "signs" all over the doors (sheets of printer paper with edges folded over) are so tacky. This location just clearly needs someone who cares enough to fix these minor problems and the overall experience would be much more enjoyable. read more

I like Cold Stone Creamery. But not this one in Lynchburg. The ice cream is always kind of melted. Plus they don't get it all the way to the top of the cup. If your'e paying 4 or 5 dollars you want it like in the picture. Over the top, piled on high. But it's extra disappointing to see that it doesn't even reach the top of the cup. But the ice cream is hard to beat. We just wait for when we have to go to Charlottesville and stop in that one. read more

I asked to try a flavor and the worker stared at me for a good 5 seconds before she said, "are you sure you want to?" I replied with "yes...why?" Walked in, one associate was busy with a customer while the other associate was just, well, busy ignoring me. Now before you get cray on why the other associate was busy, it's 10pm and it was myself and another customer. You know, the one being helped. The other busy ignoring me associate didn't bother to even verbally address me & so I waited for the other associate to finish with the transaction before me. Finally! My turn. It was apparent that customer service wasn't part of the service here...just place your order and move the eff on! So I did. I even left a dollar tip because for a moment I felt bad the associate "helping" me wasn't getting help from her team mate, I instantly regretted shoving my George Washington (that's what she said!) into the tip jar, as I bid my Cold Stone Creamery Associate a thank you and adieu only to be met by a Cold Stone Creamery silence. I seriously contemplated snatching back my tip and making a run for it, but my Momma raised me better than that! I have been to several cold stone's and I must say this one was disappointing. They didn't even mix in my daughter's sprinkles. When I got a birthday cake remix they just slapped the stuff in the middle and put it in the cup.tbe staff seemed almost confused about the process. Training--it'll kill ya every time as a retailer. Stopped to get my wife the equivalent of a strawberry sundae--but a single associate in the front of the store on a Saturday with no customers except me...took forevah...had to be walked through making it, putting syrup on top, didn't put on whipped cream, and then left it on the counter while preparing smoothie for me. But didn't know how to make the smoothie, had to read the guide, ended up with a not-smoothie with large chunks of ice & melted treat for my wife. And not a smile in sight! This particular location--big fail on employee training. My advice: across and down the street two yogurt shops. Not worth the wait, poor service, and sub-standard treats. read more

I have no rating. It is hard to rate something you did not have a chance to try. I ordered an ice cream cake two days before an event and it was canceled. Reason being it could not be done in time. No other explanation. Nothing on the web site explaining how long in advance one must order a cake. This is poor customer service. This was the first and last time I will try to patronize this business. By the way called the local Tasty Freeze and was taken care of right away, it was cheaper and very tasty. Really poor customer service. My husband and I went in around 9- there were two customers waiting on their order and two young girls working. They didn't make eye contact, or even acknowledge our presence. No "I'll be right with you" or anything. After standing around for 3 to 4 minutes we just left. Absolutely a 5 star fan of Cold Stone, but about only 2 stars for the Lynchburg/Wards Rd location. The weekday closing hours are advertised online as 10p; however when we showed up at 9:31 pm this past Tuesday the lights were off or dim to give the impression that they were closed. Once we parked and saw that there were customers inside we went in. After getting an irritated look from the counter person as we walked in we were informed that we could get ice cream and mix-ins but they couldn't be mixed in because the marble slates had already been turned off. We said okay hesitantly, then the employee told us nicely that they had be turned off at a certain time to allow them to thaw. Really?!? So we got very sloppy ice cream in a cup with the toppings on top, or a sundae basically. If you are a ice cream shop that is known for the mix-ins/create your own that closes at 10p, then you should have your product available until 9:59pm!!!! As we were waiting for our order a few other customers came in and got the looks of disgust. Not sure if they stayed or not. This location customarily dims/turns off their lights early to give the impression of being closed and I've seen the look of disgust from them on other occasions. I love Cold Stone so I will be returning for the ice cream; although I'd like to be welcomed and served appropriately when I do come. read more
