I had the chocolate sink with almond milk. I am lactose sensitive.so it's tough trying to find a place I can take the family and get to enjoy some increase with them. I finally found a place! The chocolate silk was great. I added heath bar and graham cracker in a dipped waffle bowl. The ice cream was so good and the mix ins were perfect. The mix ins were overpowering and added to the flavor of the ice cream. The dipped bow was pretty good there was a soft spot that was a little chewy but that was ok things happen and the rest was great. Service from the employee was great. He was the only person working and he was super busy. It keep the line moving. He was making the ice cream and having to run the register. I noticed he made sure to change his gloves each time he handled the money. Ambiance was ehhhh it was very small and not much seating unfortunately. The Boyle's water was almost $3 which I felt was a bit excessive and I didn't see free water anywhere. On a walk around Springfield after dark, we saw a Cold Stone Creamery, somewhere I had never been. Why? I have an allergy to milk products. Yes, it sucks sometimes. We checked it out since my wife wanted some and found they had vegan ice cream options. It's been a few weeks since we were there, so I don't recall what flavor I had. When you find an ice cream store with vegan options, there are typically only one or two. Ah, I think I had chocolate. What I do remember is it was very good. Sometimes, vegan ice cream is made from coconut milk. These always have a distinct coconut taste that distracts from the flavor. Here, they must use Oat Milk or Hemp Milk, which don't disturb the flavor of the fake ice cream. So, yes, I can't speak to their real ice cream, although everyone seems to like it. I visited this Cold Stone Creamery location later in the evening closer to closing (roughly an hour). The gentleman servicing my husband and I were finally friendly. It was empty in the store so we were able to get serviced quickly. The store was very clean and you can tell they were starting to close up shop because you could smell the freshly mopped floors. They had all of the toppings available even though it was later in the evening. Since my group visited later in the evening we were able to get a little more of the Graham crackers because it was mostly crumbs by the end of the day. Our office ordered an ice cream cake to celebrate a birthday. Received email confirmation that the cake would be available to be picked up at 11am on the following Thursday. When I went to pick up said cake around 11:30 no one was at this location, the door was locked, lights were off and the door said they opened at 12:00 pm. On 6/7 at around 7 PM, my boyfriend and I went in. My boyfriend got a chocolate milkshake. The guy who made the milkshake was nice. He accidentally added too many ingredients or something. The other employee came out and demanded that he charge my boyfriend extra even though my boyfriend did not ask for the extras. The employee admitted it was his mistake and the female employee said "I don't care, you still need to charge him". The guy didn't want to charge because it was his mistake. While ringing us up, he discounted my boyfriends milkshake to make up for his mistake. The girl comes out again and starts reeming the employee telling him he has no right to give a discount, and that he needs to either make a new one (which would be dumb and cost the business more) or charge my boyfriend for the extras. Happy the male employee refused to charge us extra because of his mistake. It is so unprofessional for a supervisor to scold her employee in front of customers. And the fact that she was demanding the employee charge the customers extra for the employees mistake is just outright stupid. This store just opened up over the summer, and had SO MUCH hype surrounding it. People would line up, snaking through the store and outside the building. The wait would be well over an hour. It's freakin' ice cream. I love ice cream and consider myself something of a connoisseur and addict. I was initially wary of Cold Stone, not because of the huge lines or the wait, but because of the company's policy of making the employees sing whenever they get a tip. I have worked in food service (1 year bar wench, 4.5 years coffee wench, 2 months surly waitress), and have made it my personal policy to tip anyone and everyone. One time I was at Panera, and got a latte, and I tried to tip the girl. They didn't have a tip cup. I gave her a dollar anyway. I WILL NOT TIP AT THIS PLACE! When the kids actually did get a tip, they sounded so pained and embarassed that I could not, in good faith, force them to do it again. I really, really wanted to tell the manager who rang me up that I would have tipped if the people would just not sing. The company tries to say it's fun and that their employees enjoy it and the customers enjoy it. No. We don't. Regardless of how I felt about the product (it was decent, but I wish I would've gotten the sorbet), because of this policy I will NEVER be back, and I am only giving this store a single star because Yelp forces me to. The ice cream is good. It is unique and I like the whole concept of mix-ins. It is quality ice cream (regular ice cream, not soft serve) with quality ingredients mixed in right in front of you. Very decadent. On the negative side, it is downtown. Although I applaud this for bringing business downtown and being in the historic setting, it makes getting there are parking a pain in the rear. The few times I have been able to get there, it has either been deserted or super hectic but that's not really Cold Stone's fault. I also find the singing to be annoying.
