I guess they've been open so long they don't say, "welcome in, have you been here before?" and give you the spiel. With so many ice cream and yogurt shops changing their format due to Covid, it would be nice to have them explain what they offer if there were any changes. And my kids are young so they didn't know the drill. They had only one person working the store. None of the mix-ins were actually mixed in. I got one sample, and it was the world's tiniest sample. At a price of over five dollars for a small cup, they should give a sample of the marble cake batter where you can actually taste that it has two flavors. The store also looked run down. It just didn't feel cheery like an ice cream shop should. The ice cream was creamy and the flavors were good, but I can't see myself coming back here any time soon. read more

The reviews for this Cold Stone location are low for a reason. This was for sure the worst Cold Stone I have ever experienced. The employees just seem so disorganized and all over the place. There were three people working and all three people were working on ONE customer's orders. Granted he did buy a few ice creams but at every Cold Stone I've ever been to, it's one employee per group so that everyone doesn't have to wait for one person to be done. After waiting forever for it to be our turn using their system, one them asked us "Was that it for your order?" We hadn't even ordered yet! The location also didn't seem to prioritize cleanliness. There was trash on the floor and it was clear the place needed to be swept and mopped at minimum. They had random stacks of dollar bills just sitting out on the back counter where they were putting lids on everyone's ice creams. Especially now, no one wants something you're about to eat to be around dirty money. Their COVID precautions were largely just duct tape. Duct tape was folded in half and connected to tables so that people didn't get too close to the cooler when they order. They didn't even have gloves, which was especially disappointing considering they were handling money and not washing their hands in between transactions. read more

Worst service ever! I came in with my girlfriend to get ice cream after dinner and was treated like dirt by all three employees. I was yelled at by the first girl right when I walked in and had to wait five minutes before being served even though we were the only customers there. Then when I asked for cookie dough the other girl scoffed at me and said cold stone no longer offered it as a condiment. Came in here with my two aunts after a day we had together. It was a hot day and we wanted some dessert. The place was packed with people, which was understandable since it was hot. We waited maybe like 10-15 minutes which was fine because I had never had Cold stone before. I was kinda bummed out they didn't have mint ice cream because I was planning on getting the mint mint chocolate chips; instead I just got chocolate with coffee with chocolate syrup and chocolate flakes. The two workers who helped us were really nice. I'm not too sure what my aunts ordered, but after we got out we tried the ice cream and it was just sweet but felt a lil slimy. Of course it's not under the workers control. It was sweet to the point my aunts couldn't finish their ice cream and it kinda left a bad taste in our mouths. How is this place still open? They have earned all of the bad reviews. I haven't been to a Cold Stone in years. I just happened to be at the Janns mall and noticed this location. I explained to my 4 year old how Cold Stone works with the custom mix-ins, the literal cold stone and all of that. Unfortunately, the lady working that Wednesday afternoon didn't bother to create Cold Stone ice cream. She gave us a melted, soupy, somehow spilling over the side of the cup without the cup being full, mess of ice cream with 3 chocolate chips, 5 mini marshmallows, 2 dollops of whipped cream and 15 sprinkles. Disappointing to say the least. We won't return to this location. There are other places that make better ice cream and provide great customer service thankfully because this location is terrible. This location isn't clean and welcoming. The staff is bothered that you're there, forcing them to work. Who wants to give their money to a business that doesn't want customers? Came in to treat some kids I watch. Got terrible service from the two girls working, They had attitude and were very rude. They didn't fill the cups all the way even tho there was room and there was plenty of ice cream left over. They just cleared it off and threw it out. The kids were asking why they only got half ice creams. Anyway, I ordered mine and paid the additional fee for the extra toppings (they made a big deal of it which I didn't mind). When we got home to eat the ice cream they forgot my extra toppings in my ice cream but they sure charged me for them. I called when we got home to let them know but a young male answered. He said he'd have me on hold to ask his co workers of it and after a minute it would hang up. I called back and he said it was a mistake and said I was on hold again which hung up.. again. Those with food allergies, beware- you will likely be refused service. I came in on my birthday to get my birthday buy one get one free ice cream. I have a nut allergy, but my personal comfort level is that as long as basic precautions are taken (clean scoop, gloves, mixing surface, ice cream from the back or an untouched area of the tin), I am ok at eating at places that could have cross contact. I have eaten at numerous other Cold Stone locations that have happily accommodates these requests. The employee working that day seemed completely clueless as to the birthday club reward, and refused to serve me because of my allergies. He stated that it was because he didn't know how other employees used the utensils, which is fair. However, rinsing them one final time would have remedied this situation, and avoided my disappointment and humiliation. I even stated that I do not expect them by any means to guarantee that my ice cream would not have any traces of nuts. Coldstone is my fave - I've been coming to this location since I was a kid, but in the last year or so the staff has just not been great. Last night I ordered two "Love It"s (medium) and was basically given two "Like It"s (small) in medium cups. There was no second scoop, which the to-go lid is shaped to fit around; the ice cream was flat along the rim of the cup. And also it was already melting by the time she handed it to me. Ordered a custom cake online 3 days in advance of my daughter's birthday. Arrived at scheduled pick up time (the night before the party) and none of the employees could find the order. I showed them the email confirmation and they said they didn't have any record of it but would make it and have it ready for me in the morning at 11. Our party started at 12 so instead of being able to get everything ready, I had to rush out to the store once again (which is why I wanted to pick it up the night before). The owner (manager?) did call that night to apologize but would not refund any of my money (I prepaid a 20% tip because I know things are tough right now) and only asked that we give him a chance to "make it right"...not sure what that means as we were not offered any store credit or anything; just an apology, which is more than one might get at other places, but still for the price we paid (plus tip), we expected more and better. Cake we finally received was fine. Plus, as others have noted in other reviews, the store is quite dirty and could use a deep cleaning and regular maintenance. The line moved quickly. The portions are big for the funnel cakes. We shared our order of strawberry funnel cake and it was amazing! I would've given 5 stars; however there are a lack of chairs for the customers. The place is compact but can accommodate at least one additional table & chairs. Cold Stone I have had at countless locations, endless times and while it has always been good, there are so many better options for ice cream in the area. I came here for my son, got him a small "like it" and he was very happy with it. Service is nice, the store well kept and they have a good selection of full and low fat options as well as sorbets. Nice ice-cream but a little pricey! I come to Cold Stone from time to time if I am looking for ice cream with mixed in ingredients. My favorites the chocolate devotion and black forest. The menu of the store is very extensive as there are so many available mixed in. The serving size is pretty generous and a "Like it" (small size) is more than sufficient to satisfy any ice cream craving. I find the service of the store to be pretty good and fast. However, you can easily spend around $6 just for one serving of ice cream, which I thought is a little pricey as you can easily find cheaper options at similar quality elsewhere. read more

Pretty much the only reason I go back to the Janss Marketplace now. Pick your ice cream, and pick your mix in. They're trying to be healthier with sugar free versions and froyo and whatnot. Who are we kidding? You come here to get the sweet cream fatsplosion ice cream, and pay someone to crush even more sugar and candy into it. Sooo delicious on a hot day.
