Coldstone is one of my favorite ice cream places to eat at. It's such a nostalgic parlor, this location was super clean and cute! I love the variety of flavors, and even though it's a little pricey per scoop, you do get a good portion. When I was younger, cotton candy + marshmallows was my to-go-to combo, but now, I like getting the cheesecake + graham crackers combo! I am a huge cold stone fan, but this one absolutely blows. The cheap owners never have enough staff so you always have to wait too long. They are super stingy on extras. And they keep the freezer temperature so high that your ice cream by the time it gets to you is somewhere between a custard and a milkshake. For what? To save a few bucks in electricity but lower the quality of your product? Losers. Nothing ever changes, ever. Cheap ass owners who don't care about the customer. The CSC of Thousand Oaks in the Janss Marketplace mall shopping center is truly more hidden than gem and a place we wandered into post dinner and thrills at the Reign of Terror Haunted Maze. We waited in an epic line that moved at a decent enough pace though there was a server getting off right at this rush which slowed the line again. Nobody seemed to want to be here or deal with the influx in business on a Sunday night however they still served us. Unlike some other creameries Cold Stones does have a less enthusiastic selection, however they have unique flavors and toppings not to mention signature concoctions. Cold Stone's does cookies, cakes and other desserts as well, not to mention family/bundle deals for pre-order. For an everyday experience you can do a waffle cone or cup... The waffle cone is huge... A regular (Love It Size) or small size cup (Like It Size) are both great portions and they fill it to the max. You can opt in to mix in your toppings of choice with your icey treat unlike most places where you just get all those extras on top and they melt in. The Gotta Have It (large) is great for sharing and you can probably play around with more variety and flavors. You can choose from things like Cake Batter, Mint, Pumpkin Bread, Strawberry, Classic Cookie Dough, Peanut Butter Cookie Dough and more... Cold Stone Creamery T.O. also has pretty cool non-dairy options including the new Silk Almond Milk based Chocolate and Mango sorbet... Which being a picky weirdo about chocolate milk (elementary school flashbacks) and chocolate ice cream I usually go for sorbet all day unless it's some non-dairy vegany double chocolate chip (it's the chips and crunch). We enjoyed our treats in the shared patio area for the marketplace, just a few feet left of the entrance. Aside from the small serving of service it's definitely something that hits the spot. Somewhat of a stroll from most parking areas but the prices are pretty good to be honest ranging from $6.50 and up. read more

My experience was unprofessional. When I first walked in, there were teenage girls on their phones, jumping around, and doing their makeup like it was some kind of party. I went there to get ice cream for my kids, and just walking in felt weird. When it came to ordering, the girl was still on her phone and giving us weird looks, so we decided to get ice cream somewhere else. So we made a big change for my daughter's 28th birthday yesterday. We always have a specific cake made at 31 flavors. Well after seeing them on a list of donating to the current president we chose to make a change. Yay! It was fabulous. They made great suggestions about the best mix ins and everyone raved. But I have to say that the quality today has declined so badly that I felt my $28 for a mere 3 ice creams was poorly spent. After fireworks on the 4th of July we decided to grab some ice cream at Cold Stone, we ordered 2 Mine cartons of ice cream at $12.99 each, we got up to the cashier waiting for the order and when the girl came over with my order she said they had made more than could fit into the Mine carton so she said they put what was left into another container and the same thing happened to my granddaughter, we of course said thank you, that's so nice. So when the girl at the register had it totaled the price was correct at $25.98, then a second girl came over and said something to the cashier and hit a few buttons on the register, I didn't really pay attention as I was using my card to pay for the order, when we started to leave my granddaughter said, they charged you over $40.00 for those? So, I stopped and went back to the register and asked what happened? The girls were trying to tell the person who had added the additional charges that it should have been $25.28 not the $42.96 that was charged. So I thought they would have refunded me the money, but I was told they can't do that and I'd have to call AJ the owner and have him refund me the $16.98 that was owed back to me. They gave me his phone number and I called twice and left messages, he did call back and said he was sorry for the mistake and would have to check with the store and I'd have to come in the store to get a refund but he would call me to let me know when. Well it July 15th and I haven't heard anything from him. I've never had anything like this happen before or heard of a store not being able to refund your money when an error was made. I placed a mobile order on the app at 12:53 PM today. I arrived at the store at 1:15 PM. My order should have been ready at 1:10 PM, based on what the app receipt said. When I arrived at the store, there were 3 people ahead of me, so I didn't mind waiting. There was only one person behind the counter and it was a male employee, and there was a female employee in the back. The male employee helped the first 2 customers, and since I've been waiting for five minutes I asked if my order was ready because it was already 1:20 PM. The male employee could not find my order because it was still not made and he said he just received the order on the computer. I looked at the time and it was 1:25 PM. There is no way that the order just came in at that moment, because I place that order at 12:53 PM. So that means that he did not check the computer for any incoming mobile orders. He asked if he could help the people in front of me which is just one customer and I said that's fine because I expected for him to help me right after him. A father and son came in a few minutes before that and they were standing in line waiting. I stood away from the line because I was waiting to pick up my order. After he help the customer that was before me, he went ahead and help the customers that came after me. That made me extremely upset since I have already been waiting almost 15 minutes at this point. After another five minutes I asked if I can just get a refund. The male employee said that he can help me and create my order within 5 minutes so I waited. But this still is very upsetting considering that he should've helped me before the customers that came after me. I told him why I was upset and he apologized and said he was understaffed, and I understand that. But what I told him was that he should've taken care of me prior to the people who came after me. I understand being understaffed, but Coldstone needs to train their employees to take care of customers in the order they came in. So when I came in around 1:15 PM and my order was not made, I should've been the next customer taken care of. Especially since there was a second employee in the back and she should've came out and helped him right away. Both employees are nice kids, treated me with respect and in a calm manner, but Coldstone needs to train them on how to take care of customers in order. It doesn't matter if the customers are in person or they place a digital order. The whole point of having an app, is to avoid waiting. So this was completely ridiculous and unacceptable. I appreciate that they upsized one of my orders at no charge, but that does not make it up for the lack of training of the employees. I have no confidence at this location and I hope these employees will understand how to take care of their customers better and be more organized. Just because a customer ordered online, through a mobile app or a delivery service - their order should not be ignore or be made last just because they did not order in person. read more

We caught this Cold Stone location on a bad night recently. Admittedly, this is the first place I ever experienced the Cold Stone vibe of creations you order up from a wide array of ingredients, mixed by the team members on a freezing block of marble. This shop has been an Janss Marketplace for more than two decades. Something was really off last week, though. They were out of waffle cones of any type. They were also sold out of mint base. Hello, it's the holidays - mint chip is popular year 'round, but I would expect it to be extra popular in the holiday season. Those were just two items I was interested in. I heard them telling other patrons about other things they were also out of that evening. We were there on a Thursday, so one would hope they were planning to stock up before the weekend. The two young women working didn't seem very happy to be there. Could it be that they were tired of telling people what they didn't have to offer? That could get old. Adored Grandson is at the stage of his teen years where he craves Cold Stone. For me, the bases are very heavy. I lean more towards preferring froyo these days. We are wrapped around his little finger, so Cold Stone it was. Too bad this location needed a management buying spree to have the best ingredients available to please their customers. read more
