At approximately 11:30 am on Friday 4/16/15 I purchased a beautiful pair of shiny new loafers, which I wore out of the store. At approximately 12:30 pm on Friday 4/16/15, my feet were bleeding and in massive pain from the aforementioned shiny new loafers. At approximately 1:30 pm on Friday 4/16/15, I sadly took my new loafers off and relegated them to their original packaging, knowing that I had no other option than to return them. Today (4/12/15) I visited the Cole Haan store in Columbus Circle to return my loafers. Now can I just say that I detest returning things, and was looking forward to this process slightly more than I looked forward to having my last root canal. In the end, the apathetic and rather rude manager actually made me wish I was sitting in my dentist's office. In short, she basically accused me of wearing the shoes for longer than I actually did, saying that NOT ONE PERSON has EVER complained these shoes are uncomfortable, and insisted that Cole Haan never takes back worn shoes because they can't resell them. Obviously. I'll spare you the entire 10 minute conversation but ultimately she returned the shoes stating "She would never, ever do that for me again," and I left the store. So two stars because the shoes were ultimately returned. The manager is right about one thing: she'll never have to do return anything for me again because I don't plan on purchasing anything from that store ever again. She likely couldn't care less, but she just lost a loyal customer. read more

The service here SUCKS. The regional director for the company needs to CLEAN HOUSE. They were having a sale. I picked up a pair of shoes which was marked 110. They were 40% off with the new price supposedly marked on a label in red. The new tag had 40% but 149 on top of the 110. I showed the sales person who took it to show someone else (poor attitude-you know who you are) who said Nothing, took the shoe and changed the price. The other girl tells me they messed up our pumps don't cost that... Instead of offering me the price that was on the shoe of 40% off 110. So I sat and waited for family to come from upstairs after sending them a text stating we would not spend our money in this store. This was on Saturday, May 18th in the afternoon. I'm not reviewing the store, but the Large Triple Zip Satchel from Maria Sharapova's Phoebe line~ I love this bag. I just got the black Large Triple Zip Satchel in the mail and I love it! This is a great all-around bag for work and Court (I'm an attorney so I love big big bags for my file and papers that I need that day). I also use it for personal outings since I'm known to carry large purses. I love the two side compartments (there's one large compartment in the middle). It's like a garment travel bag designed as a purse - I love big bags, but hate searching through the whole thing for my keys or parceling up all my things with 2-3 makeup bags just to organize. I love this. I love the basketweave coil on the edges for protection and the tassel gives it a classic, sophisticated touch. I love how the middle zipper doesn't stop at the top at a 90 degree angle but curves around, making the purse look more put together and expensive (really makes use of the leather material). 3.5 stars. Have been there a few times and got some boots during the after holidays sale. Which, might I add, was a really good sale. I never had Cole Haans but a friend recommended them as she said they are comfortable especially with the Nike footbed. I saw a sale and went in. Bought a pair of boots. The place was a zoo. The service was mediocre. The greeter was a young kid who was slightly pretentious. Yes, right. I came back to get another pair and had lamellar service. I think his name was Fernando. I love Cole Haan shoes -- They are stylish, well-made & great for people who can't live in heels. If I were limited to one brand of shoes, this would be it. That said, I am only giving the location a four star rating. 1) The store feels squashed. A) I think this location may have a smaller selection than the Rockefeller or Madison branches. B) For the number of choices this location does offer, it should still be housed in a larger space. At least doubled. 2) The lighting is too dim -- This comment applies to all of their stores in Manhattan. But back to the accolades... Cole Haan has a wide spectrum of styles: Conservative, feminine, glamourous & athletic. Compared to other high end shoe brands, they offer an outstanding balance of shoes with/out heels. Furthermore, the heels pay attention to comfort. New York women walk, damnit! Jimmy Choos are great, but how many of us can walk in them everyday? Enter Cole Haan's Nike Air & G Series. A few years ago, I used to wear the Air Hudsons, but the soles wore down too quickly. I brought back both pairs (1 pair worn & 1 pair new) to the store. The staff not only apologized, but helped me get a complete refund (which I used to buy other Cole Haans). I now wear the Gibbons & am Jonesing the Tivona Air Slings. I have complete confidence in the brand & know that the company will fix anything that does not perform to high standards. How many other stores can you say that about? read more

First, about the brand: Cole Haan dress shoes run from low end to high end. Stay away from the low end ($150-$190). They are not comfortable (even tho many of them have a Nike Air sole built into the heel) and are not that well made. You are better off buying an introductory level shoe from J&M. I've bought two and neither is that comfortable, even though they look great. BUT, the shoes from their Collection series are AMAZING. It's like some old man in Italy built a shoe around a mold of your foot. I'm still not sure if any shoe is worth $400, but these come pretty close. About the store: Like most stores in CC that are designed to be flagships, this store is pretty. Two floors, but only one entrance (kind of stupid). The staff is fairly snooty until you demonstrate your "worthiness" by actually trying to buy a shoe. Then they are nice, but still not that helpful: Me: So, do you have a belt that goes with this shoe? Salesguy: Umm, no. That's a brand new style that we just got in. Me: It's kind of a unique color. Do you know where I can get a matching belt? Salesguy: Umm, you can try Coach. (20 minutes later) Me: Hey, remember me? I just bought these? (swinging a CH bag) Saleguy: Oh yes. I admit, I love their AIR Nike technology shoes. It makes wearing shoes much more fun and comfy. Got my first pair a few years ago. Although the leather is worn, the heel is starting to give, and it doesn't fit as well as it did before - I took it as a sign to get another pair. So I did. I've picked up two other pair of cole haan shoes with the AIR soles since and I really like them. I just wish they weren't so expensive because I go through a pair of shoe like there is no tomorrow. I've never had a return refused. I never had one refused so inappropriately and embarrassingly. I brought in three pairs of shoes, tried on in the home, but never actually worn. One pair was suede. They saleswoman said they were full of lint. I told her I didn't think they were. I told then to run a suede brush over it, and they would be good as new. "We're a shoe store. We don't have suede brushes," and I said of course shoe stores do, especially good one." And so went the exchange back and forth. They refused my return condescendingly, and I left empty handed. Before the trip to Spain, my friend had not packed properly for what was the weather to come. So we hit a few of the shops in the Time Warner center to see if a last minute purchase could be made. I like the layout of the store with the multi levels but it seems the selections of items were almost arbitrary. Jackets were very nice but also way about what was the budget to be spent. The fact that I came to the store and I spent $700 for shoes and there's no bathroom for me to use as a customer it's really rude and low standards about their brand I shall never shop here again. The worse customer service ever. They do not stand behind their products. I had a pair of sneakers that are about a year old & only worn in the summer. The sneakers developed a 2 inch tear. I called & emailed customer service with pictures and explained the issue. They opened a case # and shortly after I received an email saying there was nothing they can do. They offered me a 30% coupon. All I wanted was for them to be replaced of fixed. Well, needless to say, I responded accordingly. I was livid and let them have it. They just lost a loyal customer. This Cole Hans store in Columbus Circle was excellent. I went to buy shoes for my son for his birthday and as soon as I walked in Andy greeted me and asked me if I needed assistance. I wasn't going to buy shoes for myself but he was so helpful and friendly that I couldn't help it. I ended up buying* shoes for my son and for me. After a day of subpar shopping experiences across midtown, I was pleasantly surprised at how friendly and helpful the service was at this Cole Haan. It was a small, well organized shop with women's on the main floor, men's up one level, both featuring some great sales. I fell in love with a pair of boots but couldn't decide between the two colours. Despite being on sale for $200 (down from four-something) and presumably reducing the commission prize that I had to offer, both ladies working were lovely to deal with and very helpful. They even put them on hold for me while I made my mind. Great service for a brand you'd think wouldn't be bothered to try and impress. read more

Very inattentive salesguy. I came in looking for advice about a shoe, and as he was talking to me, he spoke super fast and kept looking in another direction. While I was talking, he left the conversation while I was in mid sentence. I thought he had something urgent to attend to, which I would completely understand, but he just stood on the other side of the store, and started laughing with another colleague. I have been an avid Cole Haan fan for a while now - their products are made incredibly well. Their GrandOS design makes their shoes comfortable for an all day wear, even heels. That said, I will always be shopping at the Columbus Circle branch because of WAYNE! I came in to buy black booties and pulled a few from the shelves, then Wayne came over to check on me and was such a helpful style adviser. He pulled shoes I would not have picked for myself but ended up loving! He was helpful and personable and made me want to come back literally the next day. read more

This store has no idea how to treat customers because of their manager. She has no concept of customer satisfaction and could care less. And she is the manager of a flagship store at Columbus Circle! I bought two pair of shoes here and the sales associate at the register offered me the low cut no show socks for which I rejected saying those type of socks always slip off and they claimed cole haan's had a rubber stick on the heel that will stay in the heel and to try them and if I didn't like for any reason to bring them back to return. I agreed. After trying them on I didn't like them as they kept slipping off as I walked around in their shoes I bought. When I brought the two pairs of socks back to return, the manager treated me as if I was trying to get away with something, claiming it's policy that if socks are worn at all they can't be returned. She tried to offer me 30% off if I were to buy more socks!!! I explained to her what the sales associates said when they sold me the socks and explained that they don't fit and fall slip off the heel, she could not care less and said I'll have a talk with the sales associate that sold you the socks. When I asked her how that would help my situation, she replied "it won't but it may help future customers". I just walked out and threw the socks in the garbage. I purchased two pair of shoes over $500 on that same receipt and she acted as if I was trying to steal from the store for the $16 socks. Absolutely the last time I will purchase anything from that store again. Perhaps upper management of Cole Haan should consider a change in the store management who will foster philosophy of customer service and satisfaction rather than the promotion of sales to shove product to people at the register. read more
