We just ordered from this restaurant and the food was extremely over priced and it was all bland. The rice was hard and dry, the so called carne asada was more like ground meat than anything else that my 1 year old even spit out. My carnitas had so much fat thats all you could taste. And then when i took the fat out my second taco the meat was dry. The tortillas was the worst I've ever tasted and where too thick, My dog didn't even want to eat them. I payed 75 dollars for the worst Mexican food i have ever had sense moving here. The only good experience i had was the ok beans. read more

Second visit. First was for a simple and traditional burrito with rice/beans. Well worth driving around the block a few times to find a parking place. Second time around, when in for lunch, they were quite busy as expected. Decided not to have lunch, but sit at the bar and watch a little TV instead. Server was extremely quick to bring the chips and salsa, however the salsa has a strong tomato sauce taste with very little flavor. So used Tapito instead. The essence of this restaurant is mesmerizing. Will come back after trying other local eateries. Colima is a must for a good meal at a great price. Im giving 4 stars bc of the entire overall package: great food, friendly service, and quality. First I was impressed with the chips and salsa bc the salsa was warm and fresh. I never had warm salsa before and I really enjoyed it. Me and my boyfriend ordered the Barbacoa plate which is only served on Sat and Sundays. Pretty damn good! And comes with a spicey dipping red sauce, diced onions, cilantro and lemon. Tender juicy flavorful cubes of meat! We also ordered a side of guacamole, very fresh and packs a bit of a onion punch. There is also a pool table inside and a bar but no bar tender, which I found odd. Also pretty packed for breakfast. Ate here tonight after we had a family night out at the Thursday night farmers market. Very good customer service the waitress was very polite . First time at this restaurant and our waitress, Celia, was super friendly. My friend ordered a Bloody Mary and I got a margarita. The drinks came and she gave us her recommendation on the types of meat to choose for our burritos. Got the Adovada with extra onion and cilantro. Delicious food! Neither of us could finish our burritos. They were huge for $5! The only dislike was the margarita. I don't often ask to send drinks back, but it honestly tasted like sugary bottled margarita mix. Without hesitation she took it back in exchange for a Bloody Mary (which I almost ordered from the get go). The Bloody Mary was AMAZING!!! I am a huge bloody fan and this is honestly got to be one of the top 3 I've ever had. The rim was spicy Mexican salty blend that reminded me of Mexican powdered candy from when I was a kid. It was the perfect amount of spicy, acidic, and salty. And there wasn't a huge layer of pepper and stuff sitting on the bottom. I go to this place when I'm visiting home to see my parents. They open at 8am and have a full bar (I'm sold!) I've had their pozole, carne Asada tacos, and Chile verde, steak and eggs, and breakfast burritos. All of those are amazing (with the exception of the breakfast burritos..kind of bland and a little mushy.) but everything else is very good. They have homemade corn tortillas that are to die for. This place has some good solid Mexican food but the service is disappointing. Be aware when you walk in there you're supposed to seat yourself and wait for a waiter...that I didn't know. I was standing awkwardly there for like 10 mins and nobody even bothered to greet me. When I finally figured it out the waitress took another 10 mins to get to me. Mind you I speak Spanish and asked several times for assistance. The food is good. They give you big portions it just takes a while to come out. I spent around an hour and a half here just literally waiting most of the time. By the way when you come here, you go straight up to the counter to pay, they never come around to give you a check (wish I got the memo). The chili relleno was not roasted and the red sauce again tasted like unsalted tomato sauce (no chili flavor). The rice was dry. Shrimp cocktail was bland, no onions, celery no salt or spices. I came here in the morning around 10am. The server was nice. She was very patient with me and my boyfriend. The place is located in downtown hanford, and it seems to be a popular place. I order the asada gordo sope and an asada taco. The sope was very good, and definitely bigger than the usual. The sope was soft and crunchy at the same time. As far as as the taco, it had a lot of meat for a $2 taco. Wish there was more sauce variety. My boyfriend ordered a asada torta. It was okay. It had jalepenos and mustard which was not his style. Hanford seems to have several Mexican restaurants but none compare to Colimas. Lucas and I stopped by often for dinner. I always ordered the Carne Asada Nachos and Lucas the El Pastor tacos, simply because they were the best. The meat was cooked to perfection. Absolutely loved the salsa. But what blew me away was this .... I had completely forgot to place a large order for 15 people (we were helping provide meals to a family who just lost their son in Iraq). I walked in 10 minutes before closing to see if by any chance they could make this order for me. I was ready to hear "I am sorry, we can't" but instead I heard "Yes, what do you need?" Some of the items they had but some they had to make fresh. They were cooking 20 min after closing for me. I was so impressed and grateful. We were able to deliver a wonderful meal to the family the next day. The waitress always remember us (see we went often), excellent customer service!!! We have introduced a lot of friends to this place, shared a lot of memories, and recommend Colimas to everyone! Service was terrible, and the food delivery service to the table was worse. After waiting 1/2 hour we asked for our food and was told it was being processed as we spoke.
