Went in for Left Heart Cath Amazing team in cath lab and pre-post care. Enjoyed my nurse Liz she was sooo nice and kept me on the level. Going back with my man Master Davares (sp?) 6th Degree BB TKD and Purple belt in the Gracie system. Then Chandler as scrub tech supreme along with Blake in the control room. Still having memory lapse on my nurse in there sorry It was the versed! But she was sweet and efficient! Then the big DAWG Dr. Terhani came in and nailed it. Heed my warning! This is the worst hospital that I have ever seen. My dad sat in the ER for 2 days while he waited on a regular bed. Then once in the main hospital, the experience got even worse. The nurses would not give us solid information. They would tell us one thing and then do another. One nurse from the nursing staff came in to remove his heart rate monitor and 2 minutes later, another nurse from the same nursing team came in to see why his heart rate monitor was reporting. They must not communicate as a team. We were told for 3 days in a row that he would have surgery that day and kept getting postponed for the 3 days while he lay there hurting. Heed my words. Go somewhere else. We are not from Macon but the Macon community should be embarrassed to have this hospital representing them. read more

Although I usually don't review medical facilities, I am going to have to give the Coliseum a 2 thumbs up for courteous and professional customer service as well as their beautiful spa-like waiting areas and lobbies. I can't thank you enough for sending my elderly mother home in an ambulance when she had no key to get into her home. When someone from there told me she was ready to be discharged, and I expressed concern, you were supposed to call me back after speaking to the doctor. But no, you sent her on her way and never told me a thing. You knew I was out of town, and it would take me time to make arrangements, so she could get a ride. It was too much trouble to notify me, apparently. If my mother's neighbor had not had a key, what would have happened to her? Would she had just been left there to figure out how to get into her house? Compassion is not in your vocabulary. read more

Horrible place , They can not keep up with whats going on with its patients, Not to mention the 2 misdiagnosis that is leading to an amputation being done . Their Doctor Williams is very rude and Doctor Upshaw doesn't see the patients anymore and rarely stays in contact with the specialist which has lead up to this Amputation situation . Not a great place to go but had no chance. This where my stepdad planned his outpatient surgery. They told him to eat after 12 the night before. They will call him the day before surgery to let him know what time to be there. 3:00 p.m. on the day the solar eclipse. We got here about 2:15 to be on the safe side. The faculty (not all) but half was outside looking. (Yes the doctor, too.) A lady in the waiting room was wondering why it's been an hour since she talked to someone about her husband. Then another lady said is that your doctor outside looking at the eclipse?!?!? And guess what, he also my stepdad doctor. He only had 3 outpatient surgeries today and was running late because all of them wanted to watch the eclipse. 4:30 came and not a word on when they was going to come get him. So I am mad then. He haven't ate since 11:00 the night before. I was like do we need to reschedule this or what. We got here before a little lady but they kept putting her in front of us. She didn't have all her paperwork yet. So it was like we was waiting on her stuff. Let's say a 15 minute surgery started at 5:30. Like really! But, I love my nurse, Miss Stephanie. I hope she can find a better hospital than this one. She helped us a lot. Thank you, nurse. read more

I had a horrible experience during my post labor. The nursing and staff were not helpful and did not explain anything to me until last minute. I never had a chance to choose any photos due to the picture staff never coming to take a picture of my child. They perform test on my child without asking or even informing me on the results. I just felt really uncomfortable there. They took my baby out of the room for periods of time when he didn't need to be. They held me out for discharge on the last day. I had to call and they told me the pediatrician had discharge papers the whole time! Very unsatisfied. Will not recommend read more

Unfortunately I spent some time at this facility in Dec 2014 while visiting during the holidays. The first trip was to the ER on 12/21, the check-in was quick however the treatment process was slow even though I provided the staff with the diagnosis due to a pre-scheduled surgery. After some time, the doctor ordered pain medication that took a while to kick in and didn't provide relief until I got back to my parents house. Fast forward to 12/24, I'm back in the ER with the same ailment and immediately the dr who saw me earlier in the week, seemed apparently frustrated with me upon my return. He asked what I wanted to do and I was adamant about not having surgery at the coliseum but rather keep my surgery date in northern VA a week later. However the pain was unbearable and they hadn't given me any pain medications. An orderly came in to say that he was taking me down for a CT scan, I said to him, there is nothing wrong with my head!! He then realized that he approached the wrong patient. Geesh.... The on call surgeon appeared in the room asking me questions about how I was feeling, well I felt like crap!! He then informed me that my gallbladder was infected and it's best that it didn't wait. I asked him his name and googled him on the spot, dr. Maurice Arnold. Things checked on the web and quite frankly the pain that I was experiencing become unbearable so I had no choice. From there I was admitted on Christmas Eve my first nurse was Nurse Ridley and she was phenomenal!!! Experienced, excellent bedside manner, knowledgable and comforting! I was sad when her shift ended. The techs were on point as well. Hillary, Ashley and Kelly all were attentive and accommodating. I really appreciated them during that time. My surgery was 12/26 and I didn't get nervousness until I shipped to the waiting area that felt like a meat locker (freezer), there were other patients waiting as well but we were separated in lanes by curtains. The gentlemen to my left was there for an above the knee amputations and the lady to my right was in for open heart surgery. Jesus!! I prayed that they only took out my gallbladder and confirmed it with Tina, one of the nurses. After waiting in the "meat locker" for an hour, I was taken in to surgery, I said hello to some people and was out to sleep immediately. Upon recovery and moved back to my room I woke up to little pain but lots of discomfort. The food was beyond TERRIBLE!! It was either to salty, tasteless or just plain unappealing. Even though I asked for chicken broth, I was sent beef broth. Needless to say I was happy to be released the following day. Dr. Arnold did an excellent surgery however his bedside manner needs work!! read more

Came here a second time after a very bad car accident. The doctor / rn must not communicate to each other well because I told them I was allergic to nsaids and what did they give me for excruciating pain, you guessed it, nsaids. My pain was at a 9 when they asked and i was really in a lot of pain. Smh. So I will avoid going there again. The wait time was not long but the discharge guide lines needs improvement. read more

I usually hate this place the emergency center is beyond incompetent as they had to call an OBGYN from a whole other hospital to come make the decision to admit me ! However now that I have been admitted my experience has improved ! The second floor is amazing the staff has been very patient & helpful and personable . Nurse Peggy is outstanding I wish her shift never ended! I also love the purple scrubs & accessories used on my floor! My room was very clean & spacious as well! However I've been here 24 hours and still have yet to see my doctor.... But I can't expect perfection right lol read more

Simply the best. The doctors affiliated with the coliseum hospital and the staff are so impressive they deserve more than five stars. They are very generous, attentive and will accomadate your every need to the best of their abilities. I was sitting here in Eatonton, where I live reading these reviews and was amazed by some of them and others I just thought OH MY GOODNESS!! I myself have been in the ER waiting for help, in a room , in for testing and never have I been treated badly!! I am waiting to hear from my sisters nurse in the ER. Everyone I have spoken with has be straight up and listened to all my words and I to theres'! COMMUNICATION IN ALWAYS OF UPMOST IMPORTANCE! My mother had her masectomy done at this hospital about 4 years ago. I'll never forget how she buzzed for the nurse needing to go to bathroom. 30 minutes later nothing.... another 10 minutes nothing. I documented all of this and it only got worse. 2 nurses sat at a desk at the end of the hallway telling me that the nurse on duty would take care of my mom. Finally, after a couple of hours, my mother in tremendous pain, the nurse came in. When she saw I was documenting she tried to defend why she or the other nurses didn't help my mom. It was because "she was the only one on the floor and was needed by 'other' patients." Suddenly she was available the rest of the night. I mean, no nurse even came into the room once to check on mom after her horrific surgery! Fast forward to this year... my Dad had to have surgery and ended up having it done at this hospital. It was a sensitive surgery. They sent him home the NEXT DAY! I couldn't believe it!! So, long story short, he ended up under the knife again in a different hospital in Macon and within 2 weeks was doing very well. So, for me and my family, we'll be avoiding this hospital at all cost! read more

My stay was 11 days. Including surgery and rehab. I found that the staff on my floor were friendly and efficient. Coliseum Park was my third Macon hospital in 10 months and that is where I requested to have a final stay (I hope) of the three Macon hospitals. read more

My Nana came to the ER at 11:26pm on 12/18/17. It is now 7:00pm on 12/19/17. She has only been seen by a PA and haven't even seen a doctor. We had to bring her food bc they haven't fed her since she has been here. She's in pain and the nurse is very rude. The ER hasn't administered any of her medications either. They finally gotten her a room. So maybe they hospital part of this place will have better staff! read more

This is by far the worst hospital in Georgia, probably in the world. You have what appear to be back alley doctors and staff working there. You ask them a question and they seem clueless, they lie all the time about any and everything. They lie about what time they will perform a surgery or procedure, they keep patients waiting without food for up to 48 hours it doesn't matter what condition they are in. my mom is a diabetic and elderly (84) they had her wait for a day and a half without food before they performed her surgery she was so sick, and crying, her blood pressure was above 200 but they didn't care . We complained and asked for the head doctor in charge they talked real slick and tell you what you want to hear but at the end of the day the results were the same, no food and more waiting. I wanted my mom transferred to Warner Robins hospital, but I was told by others that they didn't do the procedure that my mom needed. When my mom came out of surgery she was delusional seeing things and talking strange. This death trap of a hospital doesn't deserve any stars. If you can avoid going to Macon hospital please do. you go in sick, but go home worst then when you came also mentally drained from all the lies. read more

I was admitted to the hospital in Dec 2014 for a medical procedure ordered by my urologist (Dr. Wilfong). I was released the following day. All I can say is that the staff, the service, the nurses, housekeeping, and my physician were excellent. Could not have asked for better care. All were courteous and professional. I am a really laid back person who doesn't really complain too much but I had to write this review. I was also in the medical field for almost 20 years before having to file disability so I know HIPPA laws very well. I went to Coliseum at 3am, checked in and had a seat. The receptionist called me up to the counter very quickly. This is still in the waiting room full of patients. She was entering my info into the computer while I had to VERBALLY give her all if my personal info as she typed. Big no no. Then a nurse called me over to a spot in the weighting room that had a partition that shielded the patients from seeing (but not hearing) everything in triage. She then told me to go back to my seat in the waiting room. 45 mins later the nurse calls me back over to the partition and tells me to lower my pants and gives me a shot in each hip, then says go back to your seat. 45 mins after that the RECEPTIONIST calls me up to the desk, gives me discharge papers and reads out loud what scripts I had to take and why. Again in front of everyone. Do they not follow HIPPA? So after never seeing a P.A, never seeing a doctor, never being taken to a room, never having any of my questions answered, I left at 5:45am barely able to walk. Never offered a wheel chair or assistance. Leaving the hospital I knew no more about my situation than when I got there. But I knew what every patient in that waiting room was in there for and I knew every prescription those that left before me was leaving with. Not to mention the staff had no problem dropping the f word more than a few times, one was over heard saying she didn't give a shit... I have a potty mouth but come on people. Have a little respect for others. Very disappointed. read more

I had double mastectomy surgery on April 29, 2016. Within 5 minutes of my arrival, the intake nurse I'd done paperwork with the day before came and found me and took me back to pre-op. Naturally, after I was getting a bit loopy, I had to go to the restroom, so they wheeled my whole huge bed over the the bathroom door and made sure I got into and out of the restroom and bad onto my bed safely. I was in the hospital from 4/29 - 5/1 and I was well attended... not constantly so as to get no rest, but enough to check all my vitals and make sure my pain was managed. Every single person who came in my room was professional, but warm and friendly. I hold one star back because nobody got me out of bed and walking, which was something the doctor ordered. He came in and, when he found out I'd not been up yet, got me moving. All in all, however, I have no complaints. **after reading a few other reviews I want to add... Dr. Christopher McLendon and Dr. Arnold Conforti are amazing, caring individuals, and world-class doctors in their respective fields: Reconstructive and Plastic surgery, and Surgical Oncology, respectively. I really wish I had nurses names to laud. In addition, the male phleb who took my blood two days prior to my surgery was superior... I SWEAR I never even felt the needle prick my arm. Three days ago, my husband was brought into the ER at Coliseum, Hospital Drive in Macon Georgia. We arrived at their busiest time when you could barely fit another person into this place and every staff member was running just to do the impossible...keep up with the volume of sick people coming in. As a family member, it was the hardest thing to watch my loved one suffer thru tests and waiting, exams and waiting, things going wrong and more waiting. It can be easy to let it get to you and only let yourself see staff around you taking their leisurely time while you suffer but if you look closer, you can see the real picture. Staff under enormous pressure, while on the front line, doing all the work, taking all the abuse and still smiling while under appreciated. My husband is still alive because of these amazing unappreciated warriors. Thank you to all of you at the Emergency Room. My husband is also alive right now because of the anesthesia staff and nursing staff of the Heart Cath unit and O.R. Surgical staff. ALOT of people that get forgotten in the mix but go out of their way to make you feel like more than just a number, even when the patients and family members forget what they did or didn't even notice in the chaos and pain. I've been both that patient and that family member. May I never be again. My husband is alive right now because of the nursing staff here in CVICU, where we are right now. Because of the beautiful people that come running when you call because you are their patient and they're taking that seriously, with no sleep, no stopping and constant complaints of pain they can only try to help you thru but helplessly can't take it away but trying all they can to do everything they can. To the nurses not assigned to my husband but who are taking the time to say "Can I help you?" anyway, when we need something but our own nurse can't be in every place at every moment. To Jessica, who cleaned this room we are in, who we have never met or don't remember seeing but who took the time to write "Get Well Soon" on the card we see every time we wash our hands. IT MATTERS everything you ALL do. To the gentleman in the ER who cleaned our exam room but we never even got his name. Thank you Charge Nurse "Brit" for the love you showed and for doing more than you had to, to make us feel safe. Thank you lab who come running because they know seconds count and someone wants that breathing tube out now, not five minutes from now. To respiratory who must think they are invisible but they are not, especially the ones here, who know you are looking for them and are wide open rushing, because they know your pain can't be eased till they pull that dreadful tube. Thank you Xray who come in smiling when all you can do is feel the pain and want to be left alone. To the cafeteria who knows that jello is the best thing you've tasted in your life when you haven't eaten or had anything to drink and they rush to get it to you. To the people who cleaned that food tray and we will never meet you, I thank you. If I have forgotten anyone, please forgive me now because everything you ALL do matters and it doesn't work without ALL of you. Thank you for your tolerance of being unappreciated and unseen, for the 1000 questions you don't have time to answer from family members but you took the time anyway. Thank you for making our family and friends feel like a critical part of my husband's healing. Thank you to our nurse Andrew, who went that extra mile and brought my husband thru his first worst moments when he woke up from surgery feeling more pain and torment he has ever felt in his lifetime. Thank you for being his angel of relief and protector or his dignity. Thank you for staying at his side, holding his hand, talking him through the pain. Thank you for being tough as nails when you had to be and sweet with words of encouragement every chance you could get to help him take that next half step. A half step is a victory when you feel like your whole body is broken. Thank you for telling him he could do it and as nicely as you could, telling him he must do it, when the fight got harder. My husband is happy to be out of that bed, taking these full breaths now. Thank you for your words of kindness and assurance when it got scary. Thank you David who was here to also hold my husband's hand, help with lifting his broken body and words of encouragement. You probably did even more but it was overlooked. Thank you Andrew for making me feel safe and important, taking care of my feelings while you fought battles for your patient, my husband. Thank you to our nurse Adwoa, who never lost her smile, even when we did. I visited the ER of this facility last week and it was a nightmare. I came to be checked out for an eye injury, broken finger, bronchitis and migraine headaches but never received any medical help. They wanted me to sign an informed consent form and another form that was basically a power of attorney form among other things but I did not sign because it gives them the right to do anything they want without my consent. After three hours, a doctor met with me for five minutes in a side room (not an exam room) and directed me to another area. I waited there for hours before they finally came in to give me a psychological exam for no reason. I did not display any behavior that would give probable cause for this action which Georgia law specifies as being suicidal, wanting to harm someone else or not being able to take care of myself. I was examined by an rn who said there was nothing wrong with me and I did not fit the criteria. However, i found out the ER doctor placed an inaccurate psychological diagnosis on my record that he was not qualified to make and when I called them down on it they said they removed it. I stayed in the lobby until morning to see a social worker but woke up with a terrible migraine and more eye pain and pain in my right finger. They admitted me again and I was seen by a hispanic PA who was very rude and abrasive. They finally did an xray but refused to let me see the xray or the report. They supposedly did a urine test and blood work the night before but refused to let me see the reports or give any explanation. I never saw a doctor or received any medical help. They gave me two prescriptions for steroids and barbituates that I could not take. Then I saw a social worker who they said could help me with a place to go. Although I told the social worker the only shelter in town would not accept me because I had too much luggage, he kept calling them to get them to do otherwise. There was no way I could have been accepted there because it was not the time to be admitted. I told him I had not eaten in 12 hours but he said they could not give me any food because it was for "the other patients." They brought me water and crackers. Then he refused to give me any transportation anywhere even though it was almost 100 degrees outside and I was extremely weak having to carry over 60 pounds of luggage on foot. I never received any medical help or a ride one mile away so I could get food. I think that I was not treated because I do not have health insurance and was diverted to having a psychological exam to alleviate the need for them to treat me medically. They came up with a false diagnosis by an ER doctor who was not trained to make the diagnosis so they could solidify the false profile. I waited for over 14 hours to get treated but was never offered medical help, they refused to let me see the tests they supposedly ran and then refused to let me see my medical records even though I had the right to see them under the Freedom for Information Act. The patient portal did not have the tests and still had the incorrect diagnosis which can follow me the rest of my life and defame my reputation. read more
