This wasn't just laser tag, this was laser war! What a great time! I came here with my fiance and two other friends for the first time and we had an absolute blast! There are three different "theaters" or "maps" you can play in, and they rotate. One is set up like an office, another like a house (complete with real parked cars), and another is a warehouse. The guns are modeled after the characteristics of real guns (shotgun has wider field of fire but shorter range, pistol is more accurate with shorter range, P90 has full automatic with a functional scope, etc). And the guns are heavy too; similar to real weapons. Next, you get assigned a "mission" each time. We played four rounds total: free for all, team deathmatch, split team deathmatch (half of your team starts on the far side of the map, half on the near side), and "traitor" where one person on each team is chosen as the traitor and it's your job to eliminate everyone on both the other team as well as your team. I was chosen as the traitor for my team, so I had to subtly try and pick off my own teammates. I should mention that friendly fire is active ALL THE TIME in every type of match. You get 10 lives per match, and a limited amount of ammo too (although the ammo limit was never a problem). Matches have a 16 minute time cap. After our first two rounds we were lucky enough that there was a kids' birthday party there, so we got to play some 10 vs 10 matches too. This made the matches pretty hectic but a lot of fun. I think ideally I would like to do these with 7 or 8 per side. Pricing is a little steep but not so bad that I won't be back. It's $5 or 6 for a membership, which is good for a year. Then you have to choose to buy either 4 or 8 matches in a package. It was $24 for 4 matches or $34 for 8 (if you buy the membership). And you can use those matches any time over the course of a year. There is also a basic drink/bar area where you can grab a beer or pop if you want. There might've been some standard bar foods (hot dogs/nachos) there as well, but we didn't check it out. If you choose not to buy a membership, you can buy either 3 or 6 matches, but you have to use them all up on that visit or they're lost. I forget the prices of these because we did the membership. They also have special "event" pricing for groups that you can do, but the downer here is that you have to pay as a single unit and then rely on everyone else to pay back the person paying. Membership fees are waved during that time for everyone, and they're unlimited play. Overall this was a real good time. One thing I would have liked to see was some sort of scoreboard/ranking outside of the arena that would show you how many kills/deaths/team kills each person had. I'll definitely be back, and next time I'll bring more friends along. read more

We were visiting Columbus with our son and niece and decided to stop in to beat the heat. We went into laser tag and were grouped with a set of kids who had been playing for 7hours by their word. They proceeded to break the rules and proceeded to stand around our teams respawn and eliminate us over and over. When I informed the employee in charge of the laser tag they shrugged it off and allowed the kids to continue to do it until they made the game so unenjoyable for my son and niece that they didn't want to continue to play. The employee running the laser tag said maybe we should just come back on another day instead of enforcing the rules. When speaking with the manager, she said oh yeah they have been an issue all day. After spending $200plus for two rounds of laser tag and a round of nerf wars and getting the negative response from the employees and manager, we will not be returning and do not recommend spending the money or time there. read more

I made an account just to review this place. The expedience was such a shame because I had gone about a year ago when I visited some family and had a tad better time. Overall, the laser tag experience was lackluster, they really let this place go. There were a bunch of kids in our group who colluded together to friendly fire on the adults so we'd be "out of their way." It felt like targeted bullying all over again. And the staff just shrugged and said that's how it is sometimes. It doesn't seem like any of them (the staff) want to be there, and did nothing to stop the kids from sprinting throughout the arena, often colliding with each other, or physically shoving us. Obviously I'd feel uncomfortable trying to manage children who aren't even mine, in a place where I don't have a job. I do not recommend attending the establishment on the weekends where they quite literally let children run amok, it was such a waste of over $100 for our small group. I would say we'd try it again on the weekdays but why bother when you could support a business that actually wants you there. read more

Came here for a work event as a team bonding exercise. We started off with the axe throwing and then did a round of laser tag. The place is bigger than it looks from the outside but it still feels pretty small since there isn't a ton of separate in the lobby portion. There is a full bar so that was definitely a plus. I went to this place expecting to only pay $20 per game (axe throwing) per hour and it was $20 per person! Way over priced in my opinion. My reason for the one star is the fact that the advertised price is misleading as well as I thought it was ironic that there was a sign that's said let's help beat COVID-19 but NO ONE was wearing a mask at all! And the hand sanitizer was gross and left stringy residue all over your hands. Also, be aware that if you want to go axe throwing, you have to have closed shoes or they can provide you with socks for $2. Also, we were not offered the free rental crocs. read more

First of all the staff is incredibly rude. There were two groups of people here. My family and I and this group of adults. I specifically asked for them to go first and my family to go second because we don't know what we are doing. They made us all go together and soon we were all killed by these skilled people who seem to come here a lot. I would normally not complain but there were 7 people here. They could have had us go at separate times. But no they had a 30 year old man running around and killing a 13 year old so quickly. I am pissed off that I spent $75 for a fun family night that lasted a quick 20 minutes. 100% do not recommend going here if you like kind workers. The arena is fun but everything else is terrible. The staff clearly did not want to be here. After I ordered $20 for two chicken tender baskets I heard the cook say "really 2 chicken tenders". I was supper excited to come here and left upset. *This review is from a player who has actually been at this place for literal years, as well as now currently banned, I didn't want to make this sooner because I didn't want to have beef and still don't but the truth must come out* Alright this has had a long time coming. This place used to be so incredibly fun. Like all things I've noticed over time it has gotten worse and worse. Now I am not saying it isn't fun at all. It is still a great place to go to and bring friends. But honestly if you ever wanna go back think twice. The more you become a regular the more likely you are to be targetted. Especially if you are a solo player like me. I have been bullied by groups and now I'm even banned because of all these false accusations by real toxic parties and Karen's. Every time I have asked for the owner to check the cameras it seems to not surprise me he doesn't. Or I wouldn't be making this review. Like I say it's a great place to go to but a bad place to be a regular. In fact it's down bad horrendous. Not only are the players are so uneducated which isn't their fault so is the current staff. They do not seem to know all that much bout the guns and there is no one to blame but management. I have only ever truly met one good person in management and it was Dharia. My friend Thermite who has worked there has said "He has control issues", "He's literally a dictator of a owner." This isn't the only staff who has had issues i have had my friends who were staff explain to me how poorly they have been treated all because a customer who was in the wrong got the manager to yell at them. Absolutely outstanding. And I have never had real issues with normal staff but because I've been there so long people have said I modified the guns when in order to do that you need a KEY specifically designed for the guns. Isn't that a joke. It just break my heart that a place I supported for so long and have had no reason to prove otherwise has dropped so low. Another issue I had but I get is the alcohol. They are a business so I understand, but I cannot tell you how many times someone who has been under the influence has shown aggression during the game. If it wasn't for the fact it was someone actually knowledgeable working at the time I think it wouldn't have ended so well. Especially since it seems people get as drunk as they want and if you know the location well enough it's right next to a highway. I thought about looking up the stats for it impaired driving accidents in that area but that's just petty and I'm just here to right a accurate review. In short terms ya, it is fun to go there every now and then. And if u go there a lot never get good at the game u will get severely punished. Love this place. I came here with one of my friends and it's not like the axe places I've been to where it's one at a time axe throwing, you can actually throw together at the same time. There's also food here that I'd actually give a 0/10 it's like they threw some Tyson chicken in the microwave. I had chicken wings, a pizza, mozzarella sticks and Mac n cheese bites which were all pretty gross. They also sell little airplane shots which I think is awesome that they at least have something for you to drink while throwing. Oh yeah, they gave us a free ticket to the indoor laser tag which I found really cool and was really fun. I would recommend this place for sure!! read more

The setup is nice, but the game is lame. You can shoot your own team, so half of the game is your own team shooting you because the vest that are supposed to be different colors look exactly the same in the dim lighting. The problem being that these things can be fixed, but I believe they leave it that way on purpose to have quicker games. Our party of 20 had a blast!! The guns had the real weight of real guns. This felt so real with real props. You can honestly do military/police training at this facility. We played three different missions and I actually broke a sweat. The hit vests were cool and all the employees are there to make sure you have a great experience. My wife asked her if bringing in donuts (yes, we read their no outside food policy) was ok. She said yes and the party was on. I decided to get some food for my wife and I and since they had NO vegan options I walked to a local Vietnamese restaurant. Brought back the food and while we were eating (mind you, Scout didn't say anything to me when I brought the food through the door) Kyle (don't know if that's his real name) came up to our table and told us "You can't have any outside food in here. You're going to have to take it out" to which I replied "Do you have any vegan options because we're vegan?" He continued to argue with me and even suggested we go into the vestibule to eat. We told him to call the owner and see if he warned to lose $350 because of his ignorance. He said he tried to call but couldn't reach him and relented saying we could stay and eat. Note to all businesses: train your people to ask questions before jumping to conclusions and give them the power to be flexible to accommodate customers. My wife and I were going to enjoy a few beers from their bar but Kyle's attitude killed that plan. Also note I didn't give them a one star because everything else was great. read more

Our group had a great time! Our son's birthday was yesterday, and in true working Mom fashion, I was last minute throwing together a plan to celebrate. The staff at Coliseum X made it seem like I planned this for a while--from pizza, to drinks, to the very fun laser tag rooms, I looked like a superstar who had been planning this for months, not hours before the event. I've been a serious tactical laser tag player for the past 2.5 years so I was excited when I came across your place. I decided to make the trip there from Dayton last Saturday. To say that I was disappointed is an understatement. I purchased the all-day pass but actually left after only doing 3 missions because it was just so lame (felt like only a half step up from the typical kiddie laser tag). - I really liked the idea of there being different types of weapons to chose from. But there is absolutely no organization in the armory. If I hadn't looked online to see the different types of guns, I wouldn't have know what the guns were. Imagine someone who has never played before getting stuck with a shotgun. Also, the first gun I used was one that does not come with a scope. But it also didn't even have iron sights. How am I supposed to aim if I have no sights at all? - The reload button is extremely unreliable. Numerous times I had to push it several times in order for the gun to reload. This meant that I was completely defenseless for 20-30 seconds. - Since the vests are tan and gray and the sensors are not lit, it makes it extremely difficult inside the arena to determine which team someone is on or know where to aim. Plus the arena lighting has a blueish tint so that makes it even worse. Since there is friendly fire, I had to hold fire a lot because I didn't want to be "that guy" that shoots teammates. - The arenas are extremely small, especially when there are 20+ players. There is no way to do any type of tactical moving. It's pretty much everyone sits in their own little corner and camps waiting for someone who decides to move. It would be a good size for say a 3v3, but it's definitely not fun with a large group of people (you need to use all 3 arenas for groups that size). The arena size combined with the number of players makes the game very slow paced compared to other tactical laser tag facilities. - Some of the staff are also not very helpful or concerned about the customer experience. One of the missions I played was the one where the first 5 people who died became a 3rd team who were then supposed to kill members of the original 2 teams (I don't remember what the mission was called). My team was told to head to the back part of the arena (the one with the cars in the front). As a group of us were still walking back there, I started taking hits (2 to be exact). I was angered because the game hadn't even started (that's at least what the group thought). All of a sudden, there were 5 enemies on us and I ended up losing more than half my lives. Basically there was no indication to the people in the back of the arena who were told to go there that the match had started. At this point I was furious so I just let the enemy finish me off and went to say something to the sentry (I don't remember his name). His response was "oh, sorry about that" and was very dismissive. No real apology. If I hadn't just let the enemy kill me, I would not have been one of the first 5 deaths (I was actually #4) and my experience would have been done in 30 seconds. Luckily I did well on the revenge team but the experience was already soured for me at that point. This was my 3rd and final mission. - I wanted to get something to eat before driving back to Dayton. That was a mistake too. I ordered the pretzel bites and a personal pizza. When the pretzel bites came out, they were cold (like they just came out of a refrigerator) and a cold cup of cheese. If I hadn't been so hungry, I would not have eaten them because they were unappealing. The pizza (once it finally came) was actually pretty good. I cannot understate the disappointment I felt, especially after driving a hour to get there. It is definitely not as "cool" of a place as the website makes it out to be. I guarantee that I won't be coming back. I wouldn't even give this review 1 star except that it's required. read more

I come here with my husband and our friends on Saturday and it's always a mess. I afraid a couple of weeks ago was our last trip. They must have gotten completely new staff because no one knows what they are doing. The sentries let the kids run around and bully others. The missions on busy days should be kept pretty simple but the ones they had us run were too complicated for a large group with a lot of kids under the age of 15. We hadn't been here in a while and we didn't realize there were arcade games! That part was pretty cool. Still, the staff was so uninterested in making it a fun experience for us. I heard they're all young high school and college kids so I honestly didn't expect much. But it used to be so fun! All the sentries we used to love we never see anymore! Arrow and Twilight were ones we really liked who always seemed to keep things fun for us but they're gone now. read more

Originally, my friends and I (ages 21-24) were planning on paintball, but all the locations were closed due to it being a weekday. My boyfriend found this location on google so we decided to try it out. Since it was a Wednesday, it was fairly quiet, but we didn't mind it. We played 3 rounds of laser tag and then spent an hour axe throwing. We had the laser tag arena all to ourselves and had a BLAST! The guns were nice and hefty. Since the sensors were on the guns, we didn't have to wear any uncomfortable vests. Even though it was just us in the place, the workers sanitized between each round to ensure the items were clean. Axe throwing was just as fun. The instructor was so kind and gave a ton of great advice. If you're looking to spend a few hours having fun I highly recommend this place for all age groups. I was a bit apprehensive when my 10 year old wanted to take friends for his birthday. The website appears to be geared towards adults with girls with tight shirts and guns in the webpage. This is a marketing mistake on the company's part. After a few conversations with the Hard Knocks staff I was comfortable the facility was appropriate for 10 year old boys. We arrived on a Saturday night and signed the boys up for a 3 mission visitor pack ($25). There were kids and adults playing laser war together. The boys had an absolute blast. They said it was a million times more fun than traditional laser tag. In the end, it was an excellent choice. 3 consecutive missions meant we were at Hard Knocks for about an hour in total. I knocked my review down a star because despite a brief orientation, the whole process was a little confusing for a first timer. The registration process is unnecessary. The bar/seating area was a little generic and underwhelming too. Didn't try any food or beverages. read more

Played there last night and had an absolute blast. Three different arenas, and then a fourth, which is all of them combined. So much better than old-school laser tag. There are different weapons, all of which behave like the real thing; the shotgun has a spray pattern, the MP5 has a red dot scope and long range capabilities. Since they combine parties, you can go with a group of any size, and still have fun. Give it a shot and you will be hooked!! read more

Took a group of 12 year olds for their first time at Coliseum X. They loved and can't wait to go back. Staff very friendly. One kid had trouble with gun and could not switch out but that was our only problem. We will be back. Maybe on a week night when a little cheaper. All I all a good night of fun. read more

Don't waste your money. I've tried hard knocks about 3 times now, and every single time there has been at least one cheater covering his sensor, and the moderators do nothing. I usually say something at the end of the game to these people since the moderators don't, and am usually laughed at. They also have games that are set up to not last more then 5 minutes. Take your significant other/friends and spend $75 for a couple hours worth of entertainment somewhere else. I will say, the ladies at the front desk are always super nice and sometimes give out free missions. But I am not going back. read more

I enjoyed the beginning of my bachelor party her on 1/28/17. You definitely get exercise here. A years membership is on $25 when u use Groupon. And the 6 missions took 3 hours to use up. I recommend this place. The staff is extremely NICE. And it has a small sports bad area that serves a hand of drinks and food. I loved the sniper rifle upgrade. Won 4 of 6 missions. It's almost better then going to the gym if you want to get cardio. read more

Ok, some guns are faulty, staff has lack of enthusiasm, reload for guns takes forever or no clear indication of finishing the reload, "immortal time" after being shot is too short (can just keep getting shot forever), can't clearly tell when it is time to reload, no good indication of firing you gun, STAFF DOES NOT ACTIVELY LOOK FOR CHEATERS OR IGNORES THEM(at least in our experience), some of the knobs on the guns have fallen off so you can't tell if you are even reloading, the screens on the guns to show lives and ammo DO NOT WORK IN THE DARK (so like very few spots can you see your lives) But price was reasonable and a nice, clean facility. read more
