I wrote a positive review a year ago (Jan 2020) about how prompt and professional the folks are at Collective Copies. Now after a year of covid-19 limitations, I am even more impressed by how they have continued to use their skills and respect for customers to adapt to the shutdowns. I've used their curb-side pick-up with on-line submissions/pay options as well as e mail and telephone to "drop off" or discuss projects both simple and complex. The options make it easy to keep safe (we're in the seniors age category) while still providing the kinds of thoughtful, prompt service we've come to know. read more

I'd advise transplants and well-traveled individuals who are stopping through Amherst to avoid this place at all costs. The people who frequent here are locals and have a distorted view of this business because of hometown fidelity. I've stopped through this place several times only to be ignored when walking to the front desk, receive embarrassingly atrocious customer service and belligerent tone of voice when inquiring about the printing process and prices. It's pathetic to say the least that this business is located in a "diverse" college town yet the staff do not have a rudimentary level of understanding how to talk to customers who "don't look native to Amherst". Anyone who expects to receive basic customer service, regardless of their race, religion or ethnicity, should stay far away from this place. You'll be better off going anywhere, ANYWHERE, than to a business that had no problem hiring employees that need intensive bias training. read more

This little gem called, Collective Copies, sits at the end of Amherst's bustling S. Pleasant Street. It might not scream, "YOU WANT TO DO BUSINESS HERE" from the outside but it is surely the only place that I would go for printing and copying. After much detective work, I found of all the printer options in the Amherst area (yes, I checked down the road and along Route 9), I found Collective Copies was our best option both in terms of price and service. To put it simply, the staff are flippin' awesome! They were always friendly when folks walk through the door, were able to problem solve my every issue, and they made printing batches of files easy. I loved that I could e-mail files or drop things off. I worked with real people, who knew what the heck they were doing (kinda impressive nowadays). I found this place when beginning the process of planning my wedding, and while I may not have realized how much time I would spend inside this little shop at the beginning of this business relationship- Collective Copies quickly became one of my secret weapons to simplifying my life. They printed EVERYTHING for my wedding including our: save-the-dates, wedding invitations, mailing labels, wedding programs, name cards, table names, Thank You signs, and our giant seating charts. My favorite part about working with them? Going into the shop to talk with the staff about the best way to approach a given project. They helped me figure out solutions to my most challenging problem, at a price I could afford. read more

More than just copies. Nice, knowledgable staff. Union shop-local. I've been to readings & book signings. They're also an independent bookstore of the books they publish - good mix of local authors & topics, within the print & copy shop. They also sell fair trade products like Equal Exchange coffees & Once Again nut butters. read more

How do you give these guys anything less than five full stars. Randy and Adam are awesome. I go there for business all the time. They'll rush a job if you need it, and they're great about working with you on difficult prints. Love this place! read more

In a time crunch, I needed a mountain of copies--over a 1000 pages--for a legal case with some pages in color. The operator offered to stop the copier for the color pages so I could use the faster black and white machine. Plus I needed a huge surveyor map copied in a hurry as well. I got everything back, perfectly copied, in a day! read more

I'm all for keeping it local, avoiding the big box stores, Mom & Pop, blah blah blah, but at some point the local businesses need to help us help them. Collective Copies is a rip-off and seemingly doesn't care that we care. If you ever want to have some fun, go in there, and if you can actually get their attention, tell them you'd like to copy one page from your usb drive. Just one. Should be around 10 cents, right? I mean, you stick your usb stick in their copier and make a copy. Simple, right? Well just wait 'til you hear their smug response. "THREE DOLLARS plus the cost of the copy"!!!! Seriously, what planet are they operating on? Their self-serve copiers are so ancient, same ones they've had for the last ten years or so, so they do not take usb drives. So the really annoyed-that-you're there "workers" will gladly make your copy, but you will pay them THREE DOLLARS just to click on their mouse. At least I got a moment of humor out of my last visit EVER to this place. Can't wait 'til they're replaced by a Starbucks. I give it about a year. PS. Mosey on down Pleasant Street to Amherst Copy or whatever it's called. They charge exactly ZERO to open a file from a usb drive. I guess they got the memo that it's not 1998. read more

avoid this place at all costs. Total rip off I wanted 3 pages black and white printed from my email they charged me nearly 4 dollars. They charge you 3 to open a file which is insane. I've never heard of such a fee and I didn't see it posted anywhere. For over a dollar a minute I could have a massage or any other form of real work rather than being charged for some dude to open a word file. Never again. Copy cat one Third the price and they are twice as nice. read more
