Best that can be said is not all of it is dreadful, a tiny portion wouldn't look out of place in a real city gallery, but most of it would look merely okay on the wall of a hotel restaurant. But I'll give the walk a good rating anyway because it's well attended on a warm evening, and people are in good moods and friendly. It's an authentic way to meet people, though if you're honest to peoples' faces about the local "talent" most will look at you like you're so darned rude. So put on a happy face, tell whoppers about how cool the art is, and make friendly. And be on the look-out for the face that silently replies, "You really think THIS shit is good??" so you'll know to laugh at yourself and say, "No, not really, this salmons, lighthouses, and seagulls on broken piers stuff makes us all look like The Egg & I hillbillies," and you may have just met someone who could be an intelligent real friend.

My mother and I visited here as one of our first stop when arriving on Bainbridge Island recently, and we loved sauntering through and viewing all the crafts and art pieces made by local artisans. I especially enjoyed finding some pieces by an artist named Peter Koronakos, for example, who creates "oddball animals" assemblage pieces - my favorite on display being the "Squirrel with Hand Grenade". There was also a lovely Pileated Woodpecker carved piece by a Seattle-based artist named Mike Zitka (who, after I just Googled him, apparently has a feature collection currently going at KOBO Seattle - who knew!). Just some examples of the fantastic work available in this gallery. There's also a special section of the gallery that has for sale specific art and design books that the purchase of will support new material for the Bainbridge Public Library. How can you not love that?! All in all, it's a great, little gallery that I loved being able to support. Definitely stop by if you're in the area and show this local gallery - and the artisans that show their work here - some support. They deserve it. :)

It's a…read morecertain type of glass art, sorry I don't remember exactly but it's like sheets of glass with designs on them, in shapes. Absolutely a must for gift shopping. They also donate to a women's artist/artisan group in Africa and you can purchase jewelry, particularly necklaces, made by that group. The artist working when we got there was very gracious - she came up and told us about the shop then went back to work but she was on hand if we needed to check out. My friend got one of the beaded necklaces and I got a Seattle-themed art piece in the shape of a crescent moon. It was very hard to decide. Everything was lovely. As we understood it, Ms. Stirrett has several large commissions located throughout the region. Hope to pay better attention and see some of those soon. We will back here for Christmas.

Great experience finding an affordable piece of art for our home…read more We took the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island and happened across this wonderful gallery, filled with photographs of various subjects from places as varied and popular as Seattle, Amsterdam and Paris. The owner, Andy, and his wife were lovely. Andy, retired, now passionately pursues his second love photography (His first love is his wife!). Being on vacation, we leaned toward his photos in and around Seattle, but he has pictures from around the world. They can be ordered in a variety of styles (photo paper, canvas, metal) and sizes. First of all, meeting Dan felt like meeting a celebrity to me because I've watched so many of his…read morevideos. But aside from being starstruck, I was absolutely floored by the sheer number of incredible bonsai, many of which were absolutely world class. Most of his trees have a very rustic, rough/natural appeal, TONS of deadwood and shari/jin features, none of his junipers are styled in the traditional Japanese or Chinese methods, but I could see many of these trees winning prizes in the national here in the state's. Especially his azaleas and rock plantings. Dan was very down to earth and happy to talk shop endlessly even though we showed up on their day off accidentally (Apple Maps wasn't updated to their winter hours). Despite this, after hearing that I was a true bonsai fanatic his lovely wife allowed me in and let us roam free. Needless to say I was in heaven! We were on our way to a hike so we had to leave after only an hour, but I could easily have spent a full day there. Dan apparently will take offers on his extraordinary trees. Lord knows he has plenty! Had I known that going in I might have looked at them differently, as potential purchases. He had sold a lovely 60-year-old bougainvillea to a woman and was showing her how to train it. All of which cost her less than $600 surprisingly! All things considered, it was truly a wonderful experience and next time I'm in Puget Sound I'm definitely going back (with some money).

The lady owner with blonde hair kept following us inside the store and outside. It made us feel really uncomfortable because she was just following us and didn't say anything. It was nice of her to show us around, but she kept on following us. Especially this older gentleman. We still didn't know if they wanted us to leave or if they liked us. You have to pay to go out back and see all the bonsai. Inside is cool. We couldn't see most of it because in some areas it's hard to get around.

This time we chose to walk around the "town" and have a bite to eat. This is a cute one block area of shops, galleries and restaurants. We stopped in The Island Gallery ... they carried a bit of everything furniture, paintings, sculptures, clothing, etc. They were setting up for a "locals" event a few days after our visit. Nice shop, a little pricey, but then again, Bainbridge WA is a pricey island. Spent a nice afternoon strolling a place we've never been.
