We had such a wonderful experience at Colleen's Swim School! Colleen and her coaches are absolutely amazing. Our 6-year-old son, who has a speech delay, started out very timid--but in just a few sessions he went from hesitantly putting his face in the water to swimming independently. Out of the 3 sessions we attended, 2 were noticeably outstanding, and we're already planning to return every summer as long as we're in California. Her pool is heated, has a safety gate around it, and she's incredibly attentive. You can tell she takes safety seriously and catches things quickly, which gives us so much peace of mind. I also loved being able to sit and watch, and I noticed her working so patiently with a wide range of kids, including those with special needs. She truly meets each child where they're at. As a pediatric ICU respiratory therapist, I can't stress enough how important water safety is--there's no second chance in the water. Please, parents, prioritize swim lessons for your children. Wow is all I have to say! When my daughter first started at Colleen's Swim School, she was so afraid of the water that she didn't even want to get her hair wet. At every lesson she would cry and insist, "I don't have to do that." Honestly, I wasn't sure she would ever learn to swim. But by the end of the very first session, she had improved so much that she even went down the slide! I was amazed. Because of that progress, I signed her up for another session -- and it was the best decision I could have made. She retained everything she learned and just kept growing and growing as a swimmer. By the end of the second session, she was confidently swimming and gaining so much courage in the water that I decided to sign her up for one more round, just to lock in her skills. We've been coming to Colleen's Swim School since our grandson was 2. Since then, our granddaughter joined the school. She took a class on her own this year at age 7 since our grandson is an expert swimmer now at age 9. Our granddaugter, Willow is doing fantastic and I'm sad (yet happy!) to say we won't need any more lessons -- unless more grandbabies come our way. Colleen is always right there instructing the instructors and ensuring safety. But I also love that she is firm and just slightly pushes the kids out of their comfort zone so progress can be made. In fact, when I think back on our about 7 years of lessons, I can't remember anyone ever crying during lessons. I mean, there probably was someone, but if there were, they were few and far between. Was recommended in a neighborhood Facebook group and it was a great choice! Simple process to register and get setup with dates and times. Nice pool area and chairs for parents to watch. I am very impressed with the flow of training that the kids learn to swim within a few days. Over the 8 days they cover going under water, floating, breathing, jumping in, and different swimming styles. You can tell Colleen is very experienced. She is fair and firm with all kids, some are more challenging or goofing off but she keeps them focused on the class. The two young ladies helping to instruct seemed new as Colleen needed to keep and eye and instruct them what techniques to work on but they were very good with the kids. They utilized the entire 30min and again very impressed with the flow of the training. We had morning sessions and there was always plenty of parking on the street. Park diagonal on the dirt shoulder. Walk up the driveway to the open gate by garage. Nice oak tree provides great shade to the seating area. Highly recommend everyone go here!! read more
