We have absolutely loved our experience here! My son is 18 months old now and started swim lessons when he was 16 months. We have a pool at home, so learning water safety was a huge priority for our family. Looking back, I only wish we had started even sooner. The progress he has made in just a couple of months has been incredible. He can float better than most adults I know, and he's already learned how to roll over onto his back and float if he falls into the water. Watching him develop these lifesaving skills has given us so much more confidence around the pool. Like many toddlers, he still cries during some lessons and reaches for me, especially when he's learning a new skill. But I've come to realize that's because he's being challenged, and growth isn't always comfortable. Once he mastered floating, he actually stopped crying for several lessons. Now that he's working on a new skill, the tears have returned a bit which is completely normal. Kris is patient, encouraging, and always makes sure he is safe while helping him build confidence. I truly appreciate how focused the program is on real water safety, not just having fun in the pool. Seeing what my son is capable of at only 18 months old has been amazing. I would highly recommend these lessons to any parent, especially if you have a pool or spend time around water. It's one of the best investments we've made for our son's safety. read more

While Kris and her team are passionate about swim instruction, I came here to say that I think it is INCREDIBLY important that anyone seeking to take lessons here with a young child, say under 3, understands that Kris uses ISR training. PLEASE PLEASE research for yourself whether ISR is right for you and your child. (After my own research and consultation with numerous other swim experts- literally a drowning expert witness- it is NOT as safe as FVSA or other ISR experts will claim it is). Personally-- it was not for me or my child. It was traumatic for her, caused MORE fear of the water than she originally had, and she took in too much water and puked during 3 separate lessons and Kris brushed it off as normal (and I soon was assured by NUMEROUS swim coaches and medical professionals that it is NOT). When I expressed concerns, I DO appreciate that Kris seemed receptive, however, her teaching style is just not compatible with how I want my daughter handled. I wish this were different because I do think Kris is a passionate, very good person and maybe this teaching style works for some, and potentially for older children. But if you are starting with a child under 3, please beware that it is difficult to watch and in MY opinion after a LOT of research, does not provide the long term safety alleged by ISR advocates. read more

My son is currently learning the swim-float-swim survival sequence. Last week he rolled over onto his back for the first time, which was very exciting! Then this week he did it again, except with clothes on. We are very excited about his progress. I can't shout out this swim school enough!! I enrolled my three littles (ages 5, 3, and 19 months) in March. Within two months, my younger two were floating and my oldest was swimming. The instructors are amazing. They care about the kids in general and their pool safety. I've been very satisfied with Ricardo, Verily, Makenna, and Hadlee. With that being said, the bathroom is usually disgusting, the parking is not well kept with lots of potholes that flood when it rains, and communication about cancelations is frustrating. The app is complicated (several adults and I have discussed this). Lastly, some parents don't supervise their other children while 1 is in the pool. I'm happy with the growth my son had experienced in the last few months but there wasn't much growth with our first instructor. We're paying a lot so I had to switch to get results. We're finishing our 9th month and he's starting to learn some actual strokes. Enrolled both my 2 year old grandkids in FVSA in June. Kris and Alrik are the instructors and both have been beyond amazing. They were very patient and calming when we first started. My daughter has been swimming here with Ms. Ashley since march. She loves Ms. Ashley and goes as far as asking for her when she wakes up from naps "Ashley Ashley" lol. She has excelled at swimming in the 4 Months and can almost swim the whole pool (obviously turning to her back and floating then continuing on). I should also mention she is only a year and a half old. Parents the first lessons will be tough hearing crying and coughing (If they take a bit of water in). You will want to pull your kid out but stick with it walk away for a minute if need to. Trust the instructor and their system water safety is important. Rome wasn't built in a day nor is learning how to swim. Floaties are like a training wheels on a bike a false sense of security. At the end of the day they make us feel better but they don't teach you how to swim. Thank you Ms. Ashley and FVSA!!!! P.S. To the younger kids parents please listen and follow the rules! Buy a real swim diaper (like ones for sale in the office). My son absolutely loves FVSA! He started his lessons this month twice a week with Jessica and is feeling more comfortable jumping in the pool with her. He still has a long way ahead of him but I can see improvement from day one and Jessica is great. I feel all instructors (at least Jessica and other two I've seen) are very patient and work great with children. I've also noticed instructors work very well together and ask each other for suggestions/tips when encountering resistance from the children. I cannot say enough good things about this swim school. The instructors are so patient. I love that everything they do is with safety and survival in mind. We've been here 10 months and my daughter went from zero swim skills, couldn't even float, to now being able to swim all thanks to Ms. Shay. My daughter didn't want anyone teaching her but Ms. Shay when we took the summer off and returned. (So technically only actively having lessons for 7 months once a week for 30 mins.) Unfortunately Ms. Shay is leaving and today was my child's last lesson with her. We are so thankful for her patience, kindness, and skills she was able to teach our child. Everything my daughter learned was from Ms.Shay. On the way home my child informed me it was her last day as well, to not waste my gas for next weeks lesson lol. So next week shall be interesting. My daughter has had a few instructors at this academy, and I am very impressed in her progress in the last few weeks that we have been there. For the most part, the staff is amazing and specifically Ms. Shay and Ms. Danae. These two individuals are absolutely phenomenal. When I say that Ms. Shay is sunshine in a bottle, I mean it. She radiates positivity and kindness. The little things that she does during lessons and the way that she speaks to the children is unmatched, I truly wish there were more people like her around. I HIGHLY recommend this place! Both my kids (7 & 5) had NO swimming experience at all. Four classes in and they gained so much confidence being in the water. Kris (the owner and one of the instructors) is by far one of the most amazing people. She truly is doing what she is passionate about and you can tell. Our 15 month old and our almost three year old both take private lessons from her. Our almost three year old has just become so confident and excited about swimming, and I feel at ease as a parent that if something were to happen and he fell in a pool or body of water unattended he would know what to do and wouldn't panic. Our littlest only started about a month ago, and is already starting to learn how to float on his back unassisted. You are not able to get ahold of anyone beside when someone decides to text. They have lost two of their best instructors and during this have passed a baby around all week. Survival swim is already tough and then handing an 11 month old to a new person every time is horrible. Since this happened I have contacted survival swim instructors that are 5 days a week and consistent with instructors. This will be your biggest mistake for an infant trying to adapt to water if you go here. I regret not doing my research and now they are in a transition of losing two people. Pay more money somewhere that has better business. I still can't reach the "office" read more

This swim academy is amazing. Within 2 visits my kids were both comfortable in the water and floating on their backs. We had a pool built in our backyard and felt it was very important for our little ones ages 3 and 6 to learn survival swimming basics. Little did we know they would over exceed our expectations. My 6 year old in just 2 months is an excellent swimmer, even treds water now. My 3 year old was very scared of the water at first but after a few visits she is confident and loving the pool .
