Used their services a couple summers ago. It started out ok but ended badly. About halfway through them loading up my stuff, I saw them giving away my donations! The guy said he didn't think I would mind. The recipient of my donations was a landscaper not someone in need. Also, despite donating thousands of dollars of belongings, I never received the requisite paperwork to allow me a tax deduction. I am writing this review to warn others about the negligence, indifference, and complete lack of accountability we experienced with College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving. We contracted with this company on 8/7/25 for a move scheduled on 8/22/25, from Anderson to Loveland, at a cost of $2,651.00. We trusted them with our belongings, including irreplaceable furniture, and that trust was profoundly misplaced. While there were some smaller issues--noticeable nicks on furniture and broken dresser drawer handles caused by movers lifting pieces by the handles--the true devastation came with the destruction of our mirrored curio cabinet, a $3,000 piece with curved glass on all sides and glass shelves. The glass shelves were wrapped properly. The cabinet itself was not. This cabinet was the last piece loaded and intended to be the first piece unloaded. It was not wrapped in quilts and not strapped to the wall of the truck. When the truck door opened at our new home, my heart sank instantly. The cabinet had fallen forward. It was completely smashed. Apologies were offered, with the team leader saying, "We didn't mean for this to happen." Of course not--but this was not an unavoidable accident. This was negligence. Basic moving protocols were ignored. I immediately contacted the owner, who dismissively responded with, "Accidents happen. Too bad for you." When my husband tried to speak with him, we were told, "That's what happens in moves." That response was devastating. We immediately tried to find solutions. I searched for replacement cabinets. My husband contacted glass companies to explore repairs. Because the cabinet uses custom curved glass, replacement proved nearly impossible. We contacted Glass Guru, Glenny Glass Company, Allied Window, Curve Glass Creations, and Custom Glass and Glazing. Only one company said replacement was even possible--and the cost would exceed the original value of the cabinet. All of this was happening while trying to settle into a new home. Throughout this process, we were in frequent contact with Tom Brown, the General Manager of College Hunks Moving, who showed no interest in helping us, despite openly acknowledging that the damage resulted from their failure to use proper care. Each interaction was cold, rude, and dismissive. Instead of taking responsibility, we were repeatedly pointed to a clause in the contract stating they would pay 60 cents per pound per item for damaged "fragile articles"--even though the contract also states that this limitation applies unless such articles are packed and handled by their employees, and only if the damage is not caused by the mover's negligence. This was not normal wear-and-tear. This was not unavoidable damage. This was a preventable loss caused by their failure to secure and protect our property. Our beautiful cabinet is gone. There is no meaningful compensation. There is no accountability. There is no concern for the customer once payment is collected. This experience revealed a dereliction of duty, a shocking lack of professionalism, and a company culture that hides behind fine print instead of standing behind its work. They were able to get me on the schedule, meet with me, and remove an old sofa from my 3rd floor apartment all in about 30 minutes!

College Hunks did a great job moving us from our house in Mt. Washington to Maineville! They were professional, timely and handled our items with care. This was the worst experience I've ever had. They do not do donations as it says on the website. They toss everything into the truck to haul it away nothing is placed and this is how they fill up the truck. When you throw a couch in side way, of course it will fill up a truck. The Good: The two-man team was able to get the corner hutch out of the first location and get it to the second location front door with no issues. The Bad: The two-man team was using a furniture dolly and was attempting to bring it in the front door from one of the side angles and said they couldn't get it the door in as it was too wide. The only solution that was offered ended up placing it in my side yard under a canopy. There was no attempt to think through the problem nor did they call for help. The Solve: Ended up being grade school math. This Corner Hutch is only 21" deep and the door is 36" wide. The hutch needed to be turned on its edge and moved in lengthwise. This was done by two relatives who laughed at how this had been handled and ended up doing this final step in less than five minutes. What's the difference between 1 star and 5 stars? I have used this company 3 times now. When we were moving to a new home they were fast and friendly with removing furniture. When we got our new home I used them again to help us remove renovation refuse and old interior doors. When my father passed away I hired them to remove his furniture and help my Mom move some heavy items...they were very kind and considerate to her knowing the circumstances. While I had a different team of guys each time, they have all been consistently friendly, professional and efficient. I will recommend this company and call on them again in the future. Look everyone there is going to act and sound nice and polite and courteous, and "yes ma'am." So kudos on excellent "be nice to the customer" even though you're bs'ing them skills. First cancelation on their end, understandable - snow Second cancelation on their end, no real clue other than running late from another job. But didn't receive notice of that until 1 hour prior to the pick up time. Which wasn't helpful considering the drive to the pick up location required us to leave an hour ahead. The "I'll take care of you, sorry for this disruption" speech given to me from the main driver/ mover turned into a whole $25 discount. $25! Stop the press! Third time in which they showed up - was 1.5 hours after the scheduled time...once again fun when you have to drive to the location to meet folk and then wait in the cold. In addition, have called twice to speak to a manager. Have yet to receive that call back. Like are you trying to ghost me, sir? The very kind operators feign shock when I tell them I've yet to receive a callback to discuss the lateness, and the last minute cancelation and the number of trucks brought being different from what was promised on the contract (don't promise to bring 2 trucks, then bring 1 and state "oh, well we'll take care of you and come back tomorrow with another truck.") These guys went above and beyond the call. They were super friendly, and didn't flinch at the fact that even though I was in a 1 bedroom, I had nearly 200 boxes. That is not an exaggeration... I counted (173). I promise I am not a hoarder, there are just lots of kitchen and craft things in my life. Anyhow, they showed up on time, the communication before and during was really clear. The guys were very upbeat and positive throughout - i would have been hating life moving all this stuff. I suffered a knee injury so these guys really saved me. I wound up needing to book them a second time because all my stuff didn't fit in 1 20 foot truck... which was my fault, not theirs. I had no context of how many boxes a normal person has... I am not normal. Plus my couch was a giant queen sized sectional. They were able to work with my schedule and book me another appointment within days of the first one. That was huge for me because I was on a tight schedule. I would definitely use them again, and next time I'll let them know very accurately how much stuff I have before-hand. read more

When Brandon & Dominick arrived we did a walk thru so there would be no question as to what was junk and what was to be donated. Dominick continued to tell Brandon that he needed to give us another quote, (to which I was hearing everything he said). Brandon kept reassuring him he had already done that. We really felt sorry for Brandon because Dominick was worthless. Brandon carried everything up the stairs & dropped it so Dominick could take it to the truck. Each item he took out he went through & set aside the things HE was keeping. He actually told me that's what he was doing. My biggest & most important complaint is the reason I chose your company. I had so many items that were to be donated to people who really were in need of it & twice as much junk. I had even canceled a scheduled pick up from Salvation Army. I took the time to separate the two. Every single piece was destroyed as it was thrown carelessly on the truck. Brandon mentioned several times a truck was coming for the furniture donations, which never did. I know he felt embarrassed & upset about that. Dominick was my next issue. He mainly sat in a chair, to be donated (to himself) while Brandon did the work. Brandon was very professional & just continued working. Dominick was eager to mention that things"were above his pay grade". Dominick also bragged how he would get huge tips from customers, which we took as him hinting we should too. All in all he spent his time saying things we had no interest in. We didn't hire him to be our friend, nor did we hire him to select what HE was keeping, which of course were set aside as to not break them. We had several HUNDRED dollars worth of furniture that was to be donated & we could take a tax write off. Now we can't & please don't say that we still can write it off. They WERE NOT donated. We paid your company a large amount of money to be misrepresented. Brandon should be recognized for his outstanding professionalism, patience & steady hard work. Dominick should be fired for his laziness, disrespect to Brandon & us the customer. Most of all, for stealing items that were meant to be donated, which also took money from us. As for recommendations to friends, my recommendation is to call a different company. read more

I was very pleased with their moving services. Tyler and William were prompt, courteous, and clearly explained the paper work that had to be signed onsite. They wrapped the items and were careful in moving them. While I can't speak to how they would do with a full move, as I only had 9 large pieces of furniture, based on this experience I would definitely use them again. Their prices were also reasonable. If there were any downside, it would be that when they send you a confirmation email, they also send you the documents you will have to sign the day of. It gives you the opportunity to review them and make any changes prior to move day. Overall, super happy with the care for my items and the 2 young men sent to move. Thanks! read more

First time using College Hunks. We tried to give our used furniture to 3 different non-profit companies. Paying to have our "gift" picked up was a tough decision. However, the cost was not bad. There comes a point in every girl's life when she realizes that she has just three days until her lease is up, and while all the boxes and furniture destined for the new apartment have been moved already, there's a pile of well-intentioned "donation" boxes, plus a couch and a coffee table, sitting in the living room. There comes that point in this girl's life, anyway. So, having no friends with trucks to press into service, I hit the local Goodwill website to see if they do pickups ... and learned they have a partnership with a junk removal service called College Hunks Hauling Junk. College Hunks Hauling Junk? OK, you've got my attention. So I called them up and asked: Can your hunks haul my junk? (I might not have used EXACTLY those words.) Incredibly, they were able to fit me in the next day. (Even the guy on the other end of the phone was surprised about that one.) I was given a 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. window, and we all know how those work, right? Guy calls at 5:55 p.m. to say he'll be another half hour? So imagine my shock when I get a call at 2:30 - "Hey, we're running a little early - we can be over in 20 if you're available." Heck yes, I was available! So here's how the partnership with Goodwill works. CHHJ surveys your castoffs, gives you an estimate for hauling based on the volume (anywhere from around $100 to about $500), with $15 knocked off the top because it's a donation. If you accept the estimate, they truck your stuff to Goodwill and give you a receipt so you can write off that old microwave. Anything not donation-worthy is "recycled in the greenest manner possible," I was assured by the phone rep when I made the appointment. (I decided not to ask for examples of the greenest possible manner of recycling something.) My estimate to haul my couch, coffee table, and stack of boxes to the Goodwill half a mile down the street? Around $200. So yeah, obviously it's more cost-effective to make friends with someone who owns a truck and a massive set of deltoids - but it was WAY cheaper than forfeiting my deposit. The guys were quick, friendly, and efficient, plus they accept credit cards - but of course, what you really want to know is: how hunky were they? Due to covid regulations, we had few options to have a charity organization come collect items from my recently passed mother. One would think an organization partnering with Good Will would explain to employees that entering an assisted living/memory care facility to clean out an apartment likely means your customers are grieving clients of a loved one. Dominick asked if it was a mental hospital despite me telling the dispatcher where they would be working. He was thoughtless and rude and clearly this isn't the first complaint about his work ethic and professionalism. While Jordan was more compassionate both treated my mother's items like trash tossing freshly cleaned sofa cushions on the floor and crushing a lamp shade and bird cage. It was abundantly clear none of these items would be going to a new home but a landfill. Why Good Will would partner with this company is beyond me. When the assisted living asked about them we told them in no uncertain terms NOT to use them or recommend them to anyone. This company only made our grief worse. read more

For decades, I was the depository for all the stuff in the family that was perceived to be valuable (whether monetarily, sentimentally, or both), but nobody wanted to keep for themselves. Over the course of my adult life, I became the "protector" of all kinds of furniture, lamps, artwork, mirrors, rugs, etc., all of which was unusable in some way. Every item was in need of repair, reupholstery, restoration, refinishing, etc. Many items were beyond repair. But I clung on to them as if my life depended on it because I had been brainwashed into thinking that these relics were not only valuable -- they were also a lifeline to my family. Over the last several years, I wasted a lot of time consulting with upholsterers, lamp repair shops, a metalsmith, a woodworker, and an antique dealer. Each stop along the way brought more bad news. It was going to cost a fortune to fix all this stuff. In one case, regarding an antique rocking chair thought to be a Stickley, I was told not to bother. It started to sink in that what I was holding onto was nothing more than a bunch of junk. It was time let it go. Thankfully, I found out about College Hunks through the Goodwill. College Hunks has partnered with Goodwill and it's a win-win-win arrangement as far as I'm concerned. The way it works is College Hunks comes to your home at a scheduled time. When they first arrive, they take a look at all the items you want to get rid of. They determine what can be donated and what cannot. For the items that can be donated to Goodwill, they pick up free of charge and give you an itemized donation receipt (from Goodwill) right there on the spot. The rest of it they quote a very reasonable price to haul away. If you approve, they take it away immediately. They loaded up 1/3 of a box truck in about 30 minutes. It was amazing. What a HUGE relief! Our house looks normal for the first time in quite a while. The best part was feeling instantly unburdened by having this stuff out of my house and no longer fretting over what to do with it. My only regret is not calling them much sooner! read more

Schedule a stop to donate some good furniture to a local non-profit than directs furniture donations to College Hunks; fee for service. The phone quote was a wide range in cost, with a commitment that the actual amount would be assessed at time of pickup, and if the amount quoted at time of pickup, I would not be obligated and the team would leave without charge. Much to my dismay, they never showed for the appointment! I would not recommend this service. read more

We called on Saturday and they were in the area on Sunday. Gave us a good price to haul away our old fridge. They arrived when they said they would. Called us thirty minutes before arrival. All three men were so nice and friendly. They answered all our questions. Then hauled away our fridge. I would definitely call them again! A great experience!! read more

The Cincinnati area franchise is horrible. I scheduled a large pickup and clean out. They showed with a little truck. Said they couldn't get it all and would need to cancel other appointments. Guess what? They didn't. Allegedly, their boss said that had to do 2 other pickups and would only take a couple things of mine. Supposedly all other trucks were full of junk or broken down. I would never recommend the Cincinnati location to anyone. read more
