I used Big John's Moving back in January to move a 2000 pound bed set from a property in Kentucky because Rooms to Go did not deliver to my home address in Cincinnati and they were the greatest. (See my previous review) Recently, I had them move my entire household which was a 2 story brick home with 5 rooms and and a lot of stuff in basement. In about 4 hours they finished loading and unloading to my new location and I had a lot of furniture, appliances, exercise equipment, and over 100 boxes. I would highly recommend Big John's for several reasons. First, there are no hidden fees; what Ronnie (the really nice manager, maybe owner) quotes you is what it really cost; she hides nothing and is very polite, professional and straightforward about the cost. Second, no last minute add ons or anything, the costs are straight forward which is hard these days from a moving company to be so precise about costs. Third, the team my partner and I had to help us move our stuff; Jerry, Zack, and Chris were the best. These guys could move a mountain without the dynamite. Could not ask for a better team of movers. They were very polite, very nice, and very professional and treated our stuff as if it was their own. These guys are the greatest movers I have ever had and I have used moving companies many times in my life and this team, Jerry, Zack, and Chris at Big John's are by far the best team one could ask for and are awesome and down to earth gentlemen. Fourth, I will never use another moving company again because that is just how great the company is and the employees from management to the movers themselves. Again, this company is the best by far in the Greater Cincinnati area. I highly recommend that if you need help call Big John's because for a great price and and a great team they make the hassle of moving a lot less stressful. I have never written a bad review in my life and have given this company multiple times to make things right. I used BJM to unload a truck into a storage unit and they did a great job so I hires them to move my stuff from storage to new place. WORST mistake!!! We won't even discuss the time it took them to unload the units, the amount of items that were broken was insane. It was so bad I hadn't complained bout one of the works called in to say how much stuff had been broken . They sent out a few more guys to smooth the situation is what I was told, which I hadn't even complained about anything yet at all. They packed my storage unit in my new place in what weals referred by their own employees as a death trap. So many items damaged.... TV, book cases, pictures that were hidden so I wouldn't find them until unpacking, lamps and even a metal tool box ‍. When calling in it took over a month for them to give me any replay in what they were going to do. They denied any type of claim saying that they gave me a discount on the initial move. However the "discount" was supposed to be for items that were not even places on the claim. If you want to be run around and dismissed by them if something gets broken and then told you are getting a response and never do use them otherwise steer very clear. Also want to add I gave them numerous chances to get it right and was not going to post a bad review bc I crazy things happen but they have not cared. They have not tried to make it right whatsoever My move was Aug 7. Meanwhile I have had to replace about $2500 work of items with a denied claim. I also had to pay $1100 (after discount) for two storage units to be moved into a two bedroom apartment. I have moved more than a few times so I know how long it should have taken. Big John Movers are AMAZING! We had everything in our home packed and we were confirmed with another moving company for 8:30-9:30am. The other company calls me at 9:20 stating they aren't able to move us because a driver quit. They were going to see if Big John Movers could take our move. My immediate reaction was being very upset. Then I thought to myself, if this is how they operate it may be for the best, and I was right! Big John Movers were in contact and told me they could do my move, and I would be getting a call from their driver. Larry called me and said he would be there in an hour. Larry and his crew met my husband and I at our storage unit first. (I have a lot of stuff!) From the beginning Larry and his two man crew were great. They packed my furniture with the wrapping blankets and made sure everything was secure. I advised we may have to make two trips because of all the furniture and boxes in both my storage and my current home. He said if we did, it was fine, but he was confident he could get it in one trip, and he did!!!! These three men worked like they were in high gear the entire time. Professional and actually took care of each piece. I have a China cabinet that is a family heirloom that I was worried about. It is old and has curved glass. They handled it like it was theirs. I cannot thank Larry and his guys enough. From taking on our move after the other movers left me hanging, to how they handled our belongings, to the speed in which they worked. If I could give them 10 stars I would!!!!!! If you are thinking of any other movers, you should stop and call Big John Movers! read more

BIG JOHN MOVERS SAVED OUR DAY!!! LARRY'S TEAM WAS AMAZING! Organized, professional, kind, fast, neat, careful and so very helpful! They went above and beyond what they had to do to get the job done! I would absolutely hire them again and again! Big Johns Movers - Larry's team - is reliable and I know we can count on them for any future moves! We hired them on the spot late in the day and they didn't hesitate to take our job. The team of 4 were beyond awesome! We had already hired, scheduled, and paid a deposit for 1 of the other top movers in the area.....but they never showed up! We were scheduled for the first move of the day- we never got a call from this # 2 company saying they would be late. We had to continue calling for updates and new promises of a new time they would be there to move us. By late afternoon we kept getting the run around and then could not reach anyone at this other company! As we continued trying to move as much as we could on our own from my sons old apartment, I noticed a moving company moving someone else in. I thought this would be a far reach, but I asked anyhow if they would be available to move what we couldn't physically do ourselves. I really didn't expect a positive result nearing 5 pm on a Saturday! As I said earlier...without hesitation Larry was willing to help us, as his team was also, with working at least a couple more hours...moving into a busy populated area near the Reds Stadium! Big John Movers came through on everything they promised and then some. Jeremy was my crew leader and he came with John, Mike, Cody, and Alex. Later another crew leader, Drew, came and helped finish my job. Another moving company, Move It Now, had really let me down and gave away my move date so I was left scrambling. The lady at Big John is very pleasant and helpful. She sent Jeremy out to do an estimate and he was right on with the time and space needed. Unfortunately I was supposed to have a team of 6 and 2 large trucks but only 1 big and 1 small truck were available (we knew this in advance and I was prepped to expect an extra trip and more time, to which I agreed) and 1 of my crew called off at the last second on the morning of my move. Another guy had been crushed by a piano the day before and worked all day even though he was in obvious pain. I think customer service is easy when things go as planned but the true test of it is when things go off track a bit and Big John stepped up and delivered. I was moved the day I needed to be moved even though it took the guys from 9 AM to 11 PM. This crew worked hard and took care of both me and my belongings. I highly recommend them and would use them again in a heartbeat! If I had to change 1 thing, I would have set up a designated smoking space at both locations and had a spot for cigarette butts. We are completely satisfied with the large move that Big John Movers performed for us. Ronnie did a great job following up from voice mail on a Saturday and getting us booked. She was up front on all expectations, liabilities, etc. I got the call a day before the move to ensure we were ready, which was a great validation that they were going to be there. The team of Patrick, Andre, Justin, Chris, Brandon, & Cory did an exceptional job. They were very fast but also careful to ensure that everything was moved, protected, and secured with no issue. They filled 2 trucks top to bottom, front to back, and all arrived in one piece with no issues. The team was friendly and professional. The team practices great safety standards and they work together like a well oiled machine. Patrick, Chris, and Justin made an unplanned trip the next day for items that simply did not fit on the first day. I felt like my home was the most important move they had ever done. It was a hot, humid day, and even showered for a period. The team never stopped other than for lunch, and tirelessly got us moved in amazing time. The cost was less than 1/2 from another major mover. I got more than I paid for, which is rare. Bottom line: IF you are looking for a someone to move you to a new place, and want to do so with safety, security, and cost effectively, look no further. read more

We moved less than 10 miles away and moved most of the stuff ourselves. We asked Big John Movers to move about 20 large items, including beds, couches, hutches, a standard piano and a grandfather clock. First, they ask you to read the policy documents at the bottom of their website. I'm glad I did because I didn't know you have to put stabilizers in front-loading washers before transport. Our front-loader is new and we weren't given those so we had to get them quick. Second, they ask you to specify up front what kind of insurance coverage you want. We elected to have full no-deductible insurance, which you pay by the pound. But it's a very reasonable cost, just like their per-hour charge, so it was worth it. Because they didn't have small things to cushion the pieces, they had to be very careful about putting them in the truck. They got it all in one truckload, didn't scratch my hardwood floors in the old place, didn't dent any walls, and didn't scratch the furniture in any way. We also asked them to move a remaining heavy sofa in the new place from the first floor to the basement. They did that without issue by removing the sliding glass basement door and reinstalling it. These guys were amazing. We got Drew and Demetrius. They were friendly and on top of things. They were efficient and we're so careful with our things. When we arrived at the storage unit, Drew alerted us to a wall leak causing our things to become moist. The guys patiently waited and tries to keep themselves busy while I sorted out getting a different unit with the facility. I was given two smaller units as a substitute for my one large unit. These guys somehow tetris-ed a ridiculous amount of stuff into a space that I couldn't believe could work. Both units were filled to the brim, but they got every single piece carfully stowed away for us. Drew went so far as to work a deal with the company for us to take some of the time off when we waited for the storage place to get things done. I would absolutely hire these guys again (and will be when we move the stuff into our home in the near future)! I will also be hiring a couple extra guys (it's only $20 more per head an hour) for the next go round. I highly recommend them! :D read more

Jason + Brian helped us move this past weekend and I was really happy with the experience and service. They were very professional and careful not to damage our items. I've had negative experiences with movers in the past breaking things, damaging walls, charging crazy high rates, etc. Big John movers made it a priority to move our things in the way we would-focusing on each item and taking their time not to damage anything. They moved everything to the exact places we asked. We have multiple flights of stairs they had to go up and down and they were great about it-never complaining. I would recommend them for sure! The price point was also great and flexible if you have a small move. Just a two hour minimum instead of 4. The truck they brought was spacious and had tons of extra room which was nice because our things weren't crammed into a little truck. They followed me to the second location and I even noticed how carefully they drove so that things wouldn't roll around or slam in the truck. Great experience! read more

We used Big John for our move at the beginning of this month. Larry called us the morning of to tell us where they were and when exactly they'd be arriving. It ended up being a cold and snowy day but they didn't seem bothered by the weather at all. We were moving from a second floor apartment to a bi-level home and we had an additional stop in between to pick up heavier items. The guys took everything in stride, got everything loaded up at both sites quickly and efficiently, even though they had to move stuff around because I had forgotten about some extra things we had to grab at the second stop. None of our things were damaged in any way and they really tried to pay attention to where boxes were labeled to go so we wouldn't have to move it around again. All 3 guys were polite, professional and considerate. They were one of the most affordable quotes we'd been given to boot. We were very pleased with them and would absolutely use them again if needed in the future. Thank you for doing such a great job! read more

This was an extremely stressful move as previously hired movers had no-showed and I was down to crunch time. I tried to stagger the movers with the junk removal guys but both showed up at the same time. The movers (Drew, Ian, and Justin) were dog tired from an earlier move and it was getting ready to pour down rain. However that did not stop them from being upbeat, positive, and extremely courteous. They worked with the junk guys to help make sure everybody got their job done efficiently. When it started to rain the guys just kept on going as best they could... even trying to keep my spirits up. Not one complaint or negative word about anything. I was beyond pleased with their work but I was most impressed with their attitudes... it was my pleasure to work with such good people. WOW. Andre, Keith & Darryl showed up to my house on time for the first of a 2 day move. The first move was for boxes and smaller items, saving the furnishings for day 2. On Day 2 Andre, Keith, Mike and Chris arrived, again, on time. This time, it was raining all day. I knew this would be a challenging move trying to fit 6,000 sf into a 2,500 sf home, so I needed someone I could trust. I've used Big John before. Every one of these guys were professional, thoughtful, always making sure floors were covered and items were protected. These guys worked hard and fast. They did not once slow down. They never took a break. They were always upbeat and encouraging. There is not another company that can do what these guys accomplished in 2 days. I will not use any other company. Don't hire big John's movers. I do know on Larry's crew they are all drug addicts and felons and cons including Richard Sherrill. He did sell drugs to my niece who is a minor and when you make these posts they will bribe you and threaten and harrass you to take post's like these downs. I had such a great experience with Big John. We first used them years ago and we loved them so much, my extended family and I won't use anyone else (I think 5-6 moves with them)! Andre and his team handled all of my belongings with care. Every member of the crew was courteous and thoughtful--constantly checking in to make sure I was comfortable with their decisions. They went out of their way to make moving day pleasant chaos. Watching them, we could see they were very conscientious about where boxes went in the new place, which ones were fragile, keeping furniture's pieces and hardware all together, etc. I've had Andre specifically for at least two moves - both times he's been SO nice. Having recently lost my mom, he knew how important one of the large pieces was to me (it was hers) and made sure it well-cared for. If you're looking for awesome - call Big John! read more

Drew and his crew were fantastic. We've moved a lot over the last 10 years and have had good and bad experiences with local, national, and international movers. While Big John was different from "traditional" moving companies that have uniformed movers, polished newer trucks, etc. (that also typically come at a higher price), the Big John crew that arrived was extremely professional, called us by our first names, asked questions, took care of our belongings, and worked non-stop for six hours. We had one broken light bulb when a tall shelving unit was moved into a room, but so far that seems to be the only casualty from the move. If you're considering Big John, I would recommend buying moving insurance from a third-party ahead of time as the company doesn't offer insurance the day of the move as most traditional moving companies do. read more

We hired big John movers for a last minute move! Ryan,Patrick and Josh were all great and very professional. They moved us from our 4 bedroom 2 bath house disassembled and reassembled all of our furniture including bunk beds and 4 other bedrooms full of furniture washer/dryer, several large hutches/tables, tv's, several boxes along with a couple of refrigerators and large garage items as well as the normal items living room dining room etc. so seamlessly. They were so respectful and in these questionable times of Covid-19 made every effort to follow appropriate guidelines while also going above and beyond to make sure my family and I were happy! My wife and I closed on our new home at the end of June and had a short window of time to get a mover and after calling multiple places I was able to reach Big John Movers and they squeezed us in on a Sunday. Christian and his crew of three gentlemen were fantastic. Professional, careful, fast and friendly. We only moved our essential items that day because we were working on donating most of our items or so we thought, lol. They were so good I asked for them again to help me move the remaining "stuff" from my old home to the new home and we had a full truck of boxes! Our son and his wife's apartment was broken into less than 2 weeks after their move to Cincinnati from Michigan. They were in a serious rush to get out of their apartment. I called and spoke with Ronnie at Big John Movers in search of the fastest service possible. She told me that unfortunately they were booked up but she would see what she could do. She totally came through for us and said that she could fit us in the VERY NEXT AFTERNOON!! This was a huge relief for us and are so grateful!!! I would highly recommend Big John Movers to anyone moving in the Cincinnati area. I've used them for two moves now and had nothing but great experiences! This time we had Randy and Bo, they were very polite and more than accommodating. They gave me a call when they were on their way so I knew when to expect them and it was within the 30minute window I was given when I booked the movers. They disassembled all the furniture that required it and were great to make sure all the pieces (screws, clips, remotes, cables, etc) stayed with the furniture it belonged too. You can't beat the price either. It ended up costing me well under half of what I was quoted at another moving company. Oh and might I add, the price I was quoted was the exact price I ended up paying!!! read more
