We needed someone to haul away a storage unit full of furniture and items that we no longer needed. We're not from the area, so we called a couple of different companies. College Hunks was by far the most responsive and informative of all the companies we called. They were able to confirm and schedule an appointment for first thing in the morning the next day and gave us an approximate rate quote. We were just glad that they could confirm such a quick appointment. The morning of the appointment, they communicated prior to arriving and arrived on time. The two gentlemen were very pleasant and thorough in telling us all of the information we needed to know and confirming the cost. They were also very fast and efficient at hauling all of the items away. I love that they said most of the items were going to be donated, if possible. And it was only thrown away as a last resort. Fantastic service, great work, and super fast turnaround with great communication the entire time. Very unhappy with the experience. We had an appointment on Saturday that they made for us to arrive between 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM. We were told they would contact us about 20-30 minutes before arrival. They did not show up during that window and did not call. We contacted the office 3 times and were told they would be contacted with an urgent message to contact us back. They never returned our calls. This was a time sensitive job which we explained. This needed to be done to be ready for a closing at the end of the month. Now we are in a bind. We do not recommend using them. If we could no stars we would have. read more

I pointed out the items I wanted removed and in one hour, the job was completed and at less $$ than the estimate. I plan to use them again to clean out my garage in the near future. read more

Should give no stars because they never showed up! Had a move scheduled for 9am in Worcester Ma. By 12:30pm i hadn't heard from them and they hadn't shown up. I had called 3 different times during my 3 1/2 hours of waiting, asking for an ETA, even asked to speak with a manager and no one ever called me back. I literally SHOWED UP to the building to speak to ANYONE and it's just a giant run down warehouse full of trash. No one was there except for 1 employee that refused to get me in contact with his supervisor. I tried to call the offices direct line with no answer. Finally, I called to cancel and they refused to refund me my deposit because "it was past the 3 day cancellation period". Literally stole 100$ from me and cause me all kinds of inconvenience. DO. Absolutely horrid experience. I highly recommend everyone with a similar experience to file a reportfraud.ftc.gov. Had almost the exact same situation as Bruce on Sunday June 1st, and extended into the following Monday because I was persistent. I wish I could give them 0 stars in that NOT ONLY did they not show up for my original move on Sunday, but they failed to communicate at any point (even 14 days later) why they failed to show up. After hours talking to customer service - the number Mark C keeps providing 774-208-0680- on Sunday, they said that I can't get my deposit back because the local branch is responsible for returning it (keep in mind this is the same branch that was not responding to me). Not only did they not respond to me, but they also acknowledged that the only form of communication they had with the Worcester branch was the phone number of the owner- who I also called many times and left messages. No one has returned my call. After being persistent, I was able to speak to someone in corporate who did not know about this situation (now I know this has been happening to many people so I am unsure of the validity of this) but he assured me to reschedule my move for 7 am Monday June 2nd. He said he would investigate and talk to his manager, and if they did not show up by 11 am he would give me a call. 11 am came around, college hunks CORPORATE had not even heard from them. I told them that at this point I'm losing money (not only from the deposit but from the extra rent for everyday I stayed over) so I had move on. The Corporate employee told me that I would be refunded my money, not dependent on the franchisee, and that he would follow up on Thursday June 5th. Today is June 15th. I called customer service on June 5th and June 11th. If you are considering using this company in Worcester ABSOLUTELY DO NOT. Maybe they are better elsewhere since the franchisee runs things in each location, but the Worcester branch is an absolute mess in that I have heard NOTHING about their absence to show up to my move on Sunday morning at 9 am and Monday at 7 am (when I was forced to reschedule with the same franchise since they had my deposit). I am going to take a moment to recommend Jacob Transportation Moving. Not only were they HIGHLY communicative, but they provided their location so I could track them in real time, with text updates, AND I booked them same day. I am still going to keep calling College Hunks in the meantime. I just requested, today, that I can have all the transcripts of my recorded conversations, but the customer service line informed me that once again, that is dependent on the local branch to provide, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NOT HAD ANY COMMUNICATION FROM THEM. I had them booked for a move today. I was told on booking that they would be there between 8am and 10am. Yesterday they sent me a text that they would be there between 8am and 9am. This morning they never showed up. They never even called. The phone number I had for them went straight to voicemail. I called the main office and they messaged the Worcester office 4 different times for me and no response. I called the main office again and told them I wanted a refund for my deposit and was told there's no refunds even though the company never even showed up. They told me they would let the owner of the Worcester franchise know that I wanted a refund but that was the best they could do. They gave me the phone number for the owner but it was the same number I had been calling all day with no response. All of my family's belongings are packed up and I had to spend all day calling different moving companies to find someone who could come last minute and the best I could do is for tomorrow and will end up paying a lot more money for last minute service.
