When my car got a flat tire, I called my Toyota Roadside Assistance 1-800 number that is included in my car warranty insurance services card that comes with the purchase of my vehicle. This was my first experience with getting a blown-out tire and was very stressed out to say the least! I called the emergency number and received helpful instructions as to what I needed to do. After going through the steps of several questions and answers by the operator, she notified College Oak Towing to start heading in my direction. I even got a notification email when the tow truck was on its way, and I could follow its progress up until it arrived at my final destination. Fortunately, I was parked at a gas station and not on a busy street! Even though it said I may have to wait possibly a few hours, the tow truck arrived within 30 minutes! The driver was very nice and immediately drove my car onto the truck bed and fastened it in place. Then, as I rode along in the passenger seat, we proceeded to my dealership at Elk Grove Toyota. Everything went smoothly and pretty routine for the driver as Toyota personnel stepped in to guide me through the purchase of a new tire. Apparently, my car didn't come with a spare when I bought it! My only concern was when my car was released from the steep angled bed, I could hear some scraping noises under the front bumper! Fortunately, Toyota employees checked the under guard and stated that they didn't see any damages caused from the roll off. Abysmal performance. Driver was worthless. We waited for just under 5 HOURS for him. Then drove 5 blocks away after being told he would call with an ETA. He called and said he was here. No advance warning. No 15 minute warning, nothing. Think he did a drive by because the place where the vehicle is parked said no one came by. Anyway got there in 7 minutes and he was gone. I had an accident over the weekend and CHP sent AAA roadside, who came in the form of College Oak Towing. I asked CPH where my van goes from here, as it was not drivable and I did not have plans to fix it. He said it'll be brought to the yard (whatever that meant). In my mind great, they'll dispose of it for me. The driver asked if I had full coverage, I said no (liability only). He said he had to check with his manager and came back with a thumbs up saying "It's all good." I took that to mean they'd handle it, even better for me I dont have to take it home and figure out what to do with it BUT there was no mention that I'd be stuck with a bill. My van sat at their yard less than 2 hours and I was charged $550+ (1.25 hrs tow, a full day of storage, and a gate fee). Howd i find out? Well, i had additional questions, so i called an hour later and thats when i found out that fees were already accruing. When were they going to tell me, on the next business day which was 2 more days out??!! If I had been told the truth by the tow truck driver Jesse, I would have happily used my AAA roadside to tow it home for free, just 2 exits away. This felt extremely misleading and predatory. I requested a tow from AAA Roadside Service due to my radiator going out directly before pulling into a parking lot. The driver was assigned promptly and arrived approximately 45 minutes later. The driver drove my SUV up onto the back of his truck after I asked him not to. It was simply the lazy way of getting it onto the back of his truck. The coolant reservoir was empty, and I didn't want to have any issues with it overheating. My Toyota SUV has been highly reliable, and I've had no major issues with it. Needless to say, the driver drove it onto the back of the truck against my wishes. The driver had an arrogant and cocky demeanor to him and wasn't friendly or personable. The radiator was replaced, and now my car is inoperable and ruined due to having a blown head gasket. I made AAA and the towing company aware of the situation. The dispatcher at the towing company was argumentative, dismissive, and rude. I will never use this towing company again and hope AAA cancels their contract with them. I'm a reasonable person and wasn't asking them to replace my vehicle, nor did I ask for any compensation. A simple apology would've been nice. It's clear they don't pride themselves on customer service, and it's not a core value of theirs. read more

Alternator took a dump at 4:30pm on Labor Day weekend, so I anticipated a long wait for a tow truck through AAA. I was pleasantly surprised, however, when I got a call back from a friendly lady informing me College Oak Towing would arrive in less than 30 minutes. As per her promise, Eli, the driver, arrived a short time later. Professional, friendly, and obviously knowledgeable, he had the Kia I was driving up on the flatbed in no time at all. He paid attention to safety, obeyed the rules of the road, and was a pleasure to converse with on the 20 min. trip to my house with the car. Briefly reviewing the excellent service that I received from College Oak Towing through AAA and from tow truck driver Ali Pasha when my alternator stopped working and I was stranded on the side of a country road with two small dogs in the back seat and an A/C no longer working. Ali provided prompt service that got my dogs home ASAP on a 103-degree day and also got me in time to drop off my car at the dealer's before closing time on a very congested Friday afternoon. Ali was professional, friendly, respectful, and just overall nice, offering me ice cold water bottles and friendly talk to my dogs so they would not be so stressed. I needed a battery jump very very early in the morning cuz There was an inside light left on over night that drained the battery. I had called probably 6 different tow companies THAT STATED THEY WERE 24hr... but not one answered and college Oak was the only one available (out of the 6 calls only one other and oak tow answered) I was very grateful that The gentleman answered the phone and had availability ASAP he was very informative and helpful. He quilted me $75 and said he's call me right back w an eta. I also let him know I'd tip the driver $20 cash if he came sooner than later as nothing else opened till 8am and I didn't have the time to wait. Well everything was great till the tow man handed me a bill and it was for $150... I said okay but umm he said $75 over the phone. The driver replied well it's $175 I said okay so that doesn't make sense either bcuz now this bill you want me to sign says $150. confused and way over it I just signed it and said thanks. I got into a wreck on I80 towards Roseville, and was stuck on the road no more than 15 minutes. William and his partner came hustled hard to load my vehicle and we were on the road in minutes.. Scam Alert! A friend of mine's daughter was in a single car accident, and had some front end damage. College Oak towed the car. When they called to make arrangements to get the car the next day, the people at College Oak said the car was totaled, and they would waive the towing and storage ($500) if they wanted to just leave the car. They picked the car up anyways, and it ended up with only $1100 in cosmetic damage, and was drivable. I can't stand companies like this that try and scam people and overcharge them (they later found out they had been overcharged for towing as well). Be careful when dealing with them! read more

My friend and I were in Sacramento in the early evening hours. The car she just bought had broken down. We called College Oak Towing. We thought it was the battery, but the driver hooked up some equipment to the car and told us the battery was fine. We decided to have the car towed to our shop. His truck was not for towing, so he called his dispatcher then told a truck would be to us in about 2 hours. He also told us to call the office to make the final arrangements. We called the office about 30 minutes later and they told us it would be another 2-3 hours and a driver would call us when he was on the way. After 3 hours, we still had not heard from anyone. We called another tow truck company from the town we were trying to get to. He arrived in just over an hour. It wasn't until another 30 minutes AFTER that (when were almost back to our destination), when the dispatcher from College Oak called saying they still didn't have a driver available. After all that, the shop we took the car to, checked everything over and the only problem was the battery. Had the tow truck driver not lied to us and not said the battery was fine, we would have gone to the auto store just a few blocks away and bought a battery and installed it. They left us stranded in a bad part of town for over four hours without any communication. read more

He put me at ease. I gave him my location and he found me on Google Earth. He said the driver would be there in 30 to 40 minutes. The driver showed up in 15 to 20 minutes with a flatbed. He hooked me up within 10 minutes and we were on our way in less than an hour from the time I called. I liked the driver,Cole. The tow truck was fairly new and clean all around. My f350 broke down on a side street near my house. It has a slide in camper that makes the truck over 11 feet high. Due to that, it can not be towed with a flatbed. I called College oak towing and was given several different prices but in the end I was quoted $263 an hour plus 10% fuel charge. Keep in mind that I only needed to be towed 7 miles to a mechanic. They told me that it is industry standard to charge Port to Port. The meter ticks from the minute they leave their shop till the wreaker pulls back onto their property. In the end they came and towed me. The driver was excellent. He drove me the 7 miles and was cordial toward me. However , the price was ridiculous. It cost me $646.50 to be towed 7 miles. How many of you want to pay that much to be towed 7 miles. I must be naive, but what business charges you up to the point that they pull back onto their property???!!!! Would you do business with any person who wants to be paid up till the point they drive home? read more

We just used College Oak Towing today and I can easily say I have never been more dissatisfied in my life. The customer service is absolutely horrendous, I spoke with Tara multiple times throughout the day and she quoted me $400 - $500 (approximately) as it is $112 an hour to transport a machine from Sacramento to Brisbane (Bay Area). When the driver Steve pulled up not only was he extremely rude and obnoxious, but he charged us $702 for the service. After speaking to Tara once again she said there were toll charges and the trip was port to port which she conveniently omitted when she quoted me $400 - $500. It is easy to say we will never be using this company again and if we could give them zero stars we would. read more
