Do NOT call this company if you need a battery replacement. If you have AAA, I recommend asking them to send a different provider. I had a very disappointing experience with a driver named Junior. When he arrived, he seemed friendly and helpful. I asked why the battery replacement was costing around $330 when I had paid about $200 for a similar service just a couple of years ago. He told me it was because car battery prices had increased significantly due to inflation. After he left, I reviewed my invoice and realized that wasn't the case at all. The battery itself cost $195, actually less than what I paid for a battery in 2023. The remaining charges included $120 for installation and a $10 shop fee. The installation took about 10 minutes, and in my previous AAA battery replacement in 2023, I was not charged any installation fee or shop fee by the provider who came out. What upsets me most is that I already pay for AAA roadside assistance, so I expected fair and transparent pricing from one of their contracted providers. Instead, I was misled about why my bill was so high. I have contacted AAA and am asking them to review this company's billing practices and whether they should continue to be one of their service providers. I am going to continue to push them to remove this company so other customers don't have this same experience. This is the fourth time I've used AAA roadside assistance, and every other company I've dealt with has been honest, professional, and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. Before agreeing to a battery replacement from this company, I strongly recommend asking for a detailed breakdown of all charges in advance, including any installation or additional fees, so you know exactly what you'll be paying. read more

Wanted to give a BIIIIIG shoutout to our man MIKE who came to our rescue via AAA on saturday 4/20, when me & 2 homegirls were dressed to the 9's on our way to Browns Valley for a friend's wedding that we drove all the way from SF for. We were driving through Sacramento on the freeway when a truck zoomed past us on the right side which caused me to do a slight jerk & what I thought to have popped my front right tire though I JUST got them all replaced. Upon inspection, Mike discovered that the lug nuts on my right tire had all snapped off on the freeway & was amazed that I was even able to get off the freeway & onto a safe street given the fact that there was absolutely nothing holding my wheel in place. With a few more hours until the wedding ceremony at 3, we had some friends not too far behind that were gonna come grab us & Mike had the perfect spot in mind to leave my vehicle over night to deal with the following day. Mike was very kind & professional, he handled my 2003 vw eurovan with absolute precision & care when loading & unloading off of his tow truck. My auto insurance works with College Oak and my 3/4 ton truck lost all power steering. Turns out failed hose after less than 2 years and very low miles. Anyhow, I had an appointment for service. Not safe to drive such a heavy truck without power steering, so I scheduled a tow with College Oak through my agent. Thankfully, College Oak has nearly all flatbeds. And most of their trucks can do an F-250 single axle, no problem. Initial call dispatcher was initially unwilling, but we got it done when my agent called. Except, they took down my number wrong and the driver didn't show up. Give a reasonable amount of time and follow-up with kindness, just in case. I'm glad I did. I called dispatch. They sent out Jerry. He's experienced and had a great demeanor. We chatted up the whole trip about tow work and Sacramento life. He allowed me to ride with my truck. It's driver's discretion to allow customer to ride with the vehicle in this post/not post 'rona. What I learned about College Oak, Jerry's good character, and how College Oak's owner cares about his employees and community, and reading some of these reviews, I full-heartedly recommend hiring College Oak for your towing and roadside assistance needs. College Oak Towing to the rescue! I am a AAA member and had major electrical failure on my vehicle when attempting to leave the Sacramento Airport in May. I called AAA, explained to MULTIPLE people MULTIPLE times that I was in a parking structure and was assured they could get me out and provide my tow. After waiting an hour and a half for AAA, they arrived only to tell me they could not enter the parking structure. After making 3 other calls to local tow companies, I reached College Oak. By far the NICEST woman on the phone assisting me, calling the driver to ensure I wouldn't have the same issue I did with AAA. The driver was prompt, polite, knowledgeable and even went out of his way to attempt to trouble shoot the issue and explain his thought process to my boyfriend. This company really cares about their customers... when I told the driver I had AAA he offered to tow my vehicle to their yard and store it overnight (for free) to save me some money and have AAA pick it up in the morning. When I called the next morning to have my car was towed to the dealership the woman who answered (who was different than the night before), knew my entire situation before I could barely even get my name out. She had all the paperwork processed and my car ready to go. The driver who dropped off my car was contracted by AAA but worked for College Oak and he was so incredibly nice, professional and even made us laugh in a really frustrating situation. Ruby was excellent, very polite and very professional! So our trailer wheel fell off as we turned onto the highway. We called 3 different places for a flatbed trailer and was told to call college oak tow. Ruby showed right up, greeted us with the biggest smile and calmed our nerves. She tried to get the lug nuts on but unfortunately the lugs were stripped. She loaded up our trailer with care as we watched. She was extra careful making sure everything was good to go. I had stepped away for a minute and came back to Robert arguing with my mechanic and my mechanic tells me that after some words were exchanged Robert calls my him the "N word". The reason for the argument was because my car had dealer plates on it still. Unfortunately the car broke down before the plates came in. Robert explained to me that towing a vehicle with dealer plates is at his discretion and he won't tow me because my mechanic and him had an argument... I see this as very childish and unprofessional. College Oak Towing (Nick!!) came to our rescue when my husband and I called AAA to come replace the battery on my Jeep, which had just been replaced two months previously by another company with AAA and was clearly under warranty despite its almost immediate failure. Despite AAA giving us the runaround for HOURS, the specialist from College Oak--Nick--couldn't have been more professional, more patient, or more helpful. Although it was at the end of his day and during another summer heat stretch in Northern California, he patiently and calmly waited in good spirits while I went back and forth with AAA for quite some time in an effort to get the battery warranty confirmed with all the correct tests run. I used them for battery service through my AAA roadside. The tech that came out to, replace my battery told me there's normally a $95 charge to install the battery on my car. He's all, "oh I won't charge you because it's slow, and the holidays." I was like WOW that's nice of him, so I gave him a tip. Totally battery with tip ended up costing me $200. I get home, my replacement AAA card is in the mail. I open it and it says "Battery installation is always FREE" So I called AAA with my experience because they put this lying tech in my path, I don't know what they're going to do about it.
