It was okay to me (3.5/3.75 tbh). I came by for lunch and to reunite with some old friends from college. It is an adorable, small, intimate dining room. The service was great and incredibly attentive. Everyone was so nice. I ordered waffles, scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, and coffee. The waitresses might ask all their questions to ensure it is cooked to our liking. I barely have pictures because I was so famished. We ended up staying for like 2-3 hours talking as the restaurant started to wind down, and they let us sit and chat while we watched the parking wars outside. MY biggest con is the parking. It is annoying that Sardi's catering occupies 30-40% of the lot. There is a fast turnaround, so my friends and I literally sat and waited to catch someone leaving before parking, rather than driving in circles. There is a hotel next door with ample signs that it's for guests only and that you will be towed; however, I still saw people do it and then watch their cars from the window lol. I think this did put a bad stain on my experience bc it took me about 20 minutes to get parking. read more

After changing ownership, this place really went downhill. I ordered the chipped beef and the waitress didn't know what it was. She pretended that she did and came back with a plate of beef with beef gravy and two biscuits. I had to take several minutes to explain what creamed chipped beef is and she didn't understand (she's hispanic and barely speaks english). After asking for a manager she says there isn't one there? Eventually another server came and finally understood what I wanted. Finally, I got my chipped beef. It was just okay. The taste was different from all the other places that i've ordered it. My girlfriend got over easy eggs with hash browns and toast (off-menu order). She liked it, but it's hard to screw that up anyway. The coffee was decent enough but I've had better. Stopped in late at night for the first time in about a decade, and it definitely felt nostalgic being back. The food was still solid. I ordered a platter with eggs, potatoes, turkey sausage, and toast -- good portion size and everything tasted fine. My friend had the French toast and mentioned it was a little soggy. It was pretty busy for late night, and they seemed short-staffed -- only one waitress handling most of the tables. Because of that, service was a bit slow. Every single time I had an intention to come to this diner, there was always a wait and the counter was full up. I have no idea how fortunate I was going to be recently on a Saturday to get a counter seat and finally partake in this establishment. I was actually excited and said the groceries I had just purchased can wait to make it home. This place is 24 hours and I feel like constantly packed. It is noisy, it is greasy, it is delicious. I'm always down for a diner meatloaf, and I'm always down for just the diner vibe. I walked in, saw and empty seat at the counter, asked the lady sitting next to the seat if the seat was taken (it was not), then sat down. After I got settled, I was took the place in. Compact, noisy, all the smells. Then the server showed up, handed me a menu and got me napkins, silverware, and a straw. She then apologized for not welcoming me and asking how I was. Girl, I see you're busy, no need to apologize, gimme that menu and we will get this dance started. After looking over the menu, which I really didn't need to do since I already knew what I was getting, I was ready to place my order. I went with the Meatloaf dinner which come with your choice of two sides. My sides were mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. I also ordered a side salad to start the meal. Oi! If I would have known how big the side salad was, I would have forgone that, it was huge. The salad consisted of a mix between iceberg and mixed greens (heavy on the iceberg). Basically a whole tomato quartered, red onions, green peppers, and some big chunks of cucumber. After cutting it up, adding the dressing, dashing some pepper I finally dig in. This is a hefty salad that can be a messy eat. Knowing that I had the dinner coming, I had to stop eating the salad because not all this food was going to fit. Then the meatloaf shows up. I think at this point I have to say that if you sit at the counter (and most places in here) you can see the action of cooking the food. I watched as they were approaching with my platter and there was some back and forth. They were worried that I was going to ask to have the mac and cheese on another plate. See it was in a bowl and they placed the bowl on the plate. I did not care either way, just gimme. I want to say, in all my stops at diners, I have never had a meatloaf like this. They took the time to toss it on the gridle before plopping it on a plate. I was not expecting this, nor how good the crisp was on it. The mashed potatoes looked like typical diner potatoes. Both were covered with brown gravy and a nice compliment I might saw. This mac and cheese...very cheesy. I mean cheese stretch worthy mac and cheese. Each bite was cheese heavy and I was not mad about that. When I was finished, and full beyond capacity. it was time to go. Paying is easy, just go to the register, tell them what seat you were in, and pay. Such a good experience, will be back and eye it up when it's not packed. read more

We don't live too far from College Park Diner and finally had a chance to go today. Before we dive into the issue, I have to talk about how good the service was. Our server was excellent! First, the experience started with a crowded parking lot at 10 on a Wednesday morning. There was zero parking. A little concerning, but also means it's a great local spot right? I ran in to ask where to park, saw it was fairly empty... and saw signs to not park next door at American legion. I was told to park at the hotel next door. That's totally fine, except as we were sitting there we realized the entire parking lot had been taken up by Sardi's employees. So that's a little frustrating. For drinks, I had an apple juice (that was 5.25!?) and my boyfriend a coffee. Onto the food. I ordered what College Park Diner is known for - the chipped beef and gravy, over biscuits. My boyfriend ordered the country fried steak. My food was unbelievably salty. Like so salty I picked out the beef (it was corned beef so that didn't help with the salt) and ate the biscuits and gravy. The hash browns were ok. My boyfriend said his food was fine - he was surprised that his country fried steak was chicken (or at least he thought it was). Very good old school diner. If you are looking for classic Diner food, this is the place. Patty melt? Check. Open face sandwich? Check. Good coffee? Check. Breakfast any time? Check. Bacon on the grill, eggs in a carbon steel skillet? Check . Liver and onions? Check. And that's what I had. Thin slices just cooked through. Gravy was my only gripe, gummy and short on flavor. Hash browns had those special crisp ends and tender centers. On Route 1 about a mile inside the Beltway, big parking lot. L-shaped space, clean men's room to the left and women (as always) right. It was a bit of a surprise to hear Spanish behind the counter, but cordial service was in fluent English. Generous portions and moderate prices. When the trend gets old and you just need to get back to the roots of comfort food, you won't go wrong here. Solid four stars. read more

Overall, I had a pretty decent experience at College Park Diner. First reason, it was one of the few spots that was open on an early Sunday morning (around 6:30 am). Second, the prices were pretty low compared to other breakfast spots in the area. At first, I was very excited to learn about the two pancakes, two eggs, and two strips of bacon deal for like nine bucks that I saw when pulling into the parking lot. Although I learned that special is honored during weekdays, the waitress informed me of some other specials. I eventually went with the half waffle, one egg, and one sausage deal that was about 10 bucks. I thought the food was pretty good, and the service was very prompt. I will say that College Park Diner has a very old school diner vibe to it. So, this place might not be for you if you are into eating in an environment with fancy bells and whistles. But if you are into a pretty cheap meal that will stick to your bones, then this might be the place for you. read more

It is nice that they have many employees working here and all were friendly. The food though was lackluster. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting a gourmet breakfast, but everything was bland with little to no seasoning. They have limited seating, as it is a small building. I was able to immediately sit at the counter, but there were people wanting for at least 15 minutes or so for a table while I was there during the late breakfast rush., I later discovered there is an IHOP down the street, so you may want to give it a shot if wanting breakfast. I have been a patron of this place for about a decade now. I remember back in the day when they were open 24 hours. After a rough day at work or when I was down, I'd drop by at 3 am in the morning for some soul-soothing grub. I went there today and it was great as usual. The service has always been spectacular and today was no exception. The ambience is what you'd expect of an old-timey diner with all the bills on the wall giving it a worldly pulse. It needs a serious overhaul of all its interior and staff shouldn't leave piles of swept dirt in the middle of the floor while customers are eating . $26 books for a waffle platter and a kid's chicken tender is super riddiculous as well. read more

I will be a regular from now on, cause I go to school nearby and in the coming semester I'll be doing night classes, so this is a spot for quick eats. I came in on a relaxing Wednesday around 12:30pm. It's not crowded but I'd say 75% of the tables are full. Many couples or families here. I came by myself and it was easy to park and get inside. The staff was nice and efficient! She was busy with multiple tables but she still gave me my menu and order within 5 mins of me sitting near the bar. My breakfast platter came within 5 mins as well. She's so fast and efficient, I didn't even know she already finished cooking my order and it's right in front of me! The breakfast is actually surprisingly good. I know it's dinner food, which means it's fast and junky... But how she cooked the eggs with real gas fire, and no added salt to it, it's really good! I did put some pepper and salt afterward myself but I prefer a diner that doesn't over season their food. It actually reminds me the old style McD breakfast platter! (Larger in size, better in taste. Not the ones in McD now) That harsh brown was so crispy but tender, not salted as well! It might be personal preference here, but I love how she made it! Coffee is typical diner coffee, but on a good side. Some diner gives you really really bad bitter coffee, but heres somewhat decent. I am a barista myself and have very special requests with my coffee...so I can't judge it too much. All I'm saying is, it's not as bad as some and does have a tiny fruity sweetness to it! All in all this is a really good, fast, efficient, nice diner! No attitude and no annoying policy. (like you have to have 4 people to seat at the table, or you'll have to order $10/person bs. I've seen some places guys.) For open 24 hours and being so nice and fast? I'll come her more often! Esp if I have a class at night, I need to grab some food fast, this will be a good place! I'd heard good things about College Park Diner, so I finally decided to check it out. I came in on a random Tuesday around 10am. The place wasn't too busy, but it took longer than expected to be seated. Right away, I noticed the table and floors were sticky, which made me a little uneasy about the overall cleanliness. I kept my order simple with a classic bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel--but honestly, it didn't live up to the hype. When you enter, you seat yourself. It was our first time so the employees gently informed us. The location is cozy and the customer service was great. It is what it is, a small diner with no pretense. Clean and had a full parking lot for a early afternoon. Cook right in front of you like they do in that chain of diners in the south. She is a self proclaimed expert on the grits, so it will be interesting to see. Grits came without cheese but the scrapple was right. There was a time that CP Diner was a good place to stop and eat... Not anymore...They are "under new management" and are not able to get good, quality employees. They have also changed some of the recipes for breakfast foods and they too lack the former quality. I have stopped by no less than 5 times in the last year and each time I stopped by only half of the restaurant booths were opened and only 2 employees working, one of which was a hispanic lady cook. It's now not worth the bother to go there to be disappointed, or turned away for lack of staff and/or booths to sit in... Save yourself the aggrevation and find the 2 diners in Laurel on Route 1 which are much better and welcoming. read more

The customer service was wonderful and the food was even better. Everything was so fresh and made to order. There were no long waits for the food which is awesome when you're starving. The inside isn't large at all, but they make it work. They only have table sizes of 2 and 4, so if you do come with larger party, you'll be split up. I recommend their pancakes, grits and hot smoked sausage! While in Maryland, we visited twice and almost came for a 3rd visit. Lol! read more

I went here on a Friday morning and it was pretty busy. First of all there's limited parking so you'll have to park in another lot and walk over. Also when you walk in there's two lines. One is for takeout where you just order the food right at the register. The other line is for dine in. And you just sign a yellow legal pad with your name and wait for a table to open up. We got seated maybe 15 mins after we got there. I ordered the French toast with eggs, bacon, and a side of hashbrowns. The French toast was really good but the eggs were not seasoned at all and the hashbrowns were a little underdone and under seasoned. The only plus was we got our food really fast after being seated. A College Park Icon! Traditional diner grub serving up heaps of comfort food. If you come late morning you can get a spot right away, just get in between breakfast and lunch. I had a craving for cream chipped beef on toast-AKA-SOS. Fortunately this specialty is on the menu and labeled as legendary. I didn't see any photos of SOS here on Yelp so I came here on a mission to fill in the gap here. I must say the creamed chipped beef was rather average so that's my opinion. Been going here since early 2000's something changed- Horrible- staff was pissy & dismissive - we waited for 20 min to get coffees that we ordered initially and the server forgot while over attending everyone else- when I asked firmly if we could get the coffee that was forgotten the server litter snapped and said "Jesus I'm getting it!"- completely rude- never had that happen in my life.
