Unfortunately, my experience was overshadowed by an excessive amount of fruit flies throughout my visit. There were so many that I constantly had to fan them away from myself, and several landed on my drink glass, making it impossible to enjoy. I ultimately decided not to order food because of the issue. The atmosphere and concept make this a place I would normally enjoy, but the fruit fly problem was significant enough that it affected the overall experience. This was our 5th time back today. Veronica was spectacular, Bailey was great. Sonya has us questioning if we'll come back for the 6th time. Started playing Ruins of Arnak today and Bailey was our server for the first part of the day. Great service through her shift but things turned afterwards. Her shift ended and we were waiting for refills and next orders. Nobody comes over for an hour. I flag someone down asking for refills. Person didn't ask if wanted to order anything. We continue playing and they come back over while we're in the middle and ask if want a to go box. No introduction, no would we like to order anything, in the middle of the game, may as well have said "can you leave". We say no as we're still snacking and playing and the walk away. They come back by and drop off the dessert menu without a word. Ok, not feeling welcome anymore. We continue playing and at this point we're talking less about the game and more about the server with no name. At the end we're packing up. I ask for the check and the server comes back to start cleaning up. I finally ask what they're name is to find out it's Sonya. The board games are great, the food is excellent. The service is usually one of the best parts but one bad time make us wonder. This is such a wonderful place for a large group to catch up and have a great meal together. It's right by UMD campus, and there's metered parking behind the building and a fair number of spaces to park at. When you get inside, there are so many tables to choose from. Our group of six was able to sit on a few couches, all facing one another, and the couches were almost tucked away from a lot of the other tables, meaning we could all hear each other. We ordered the old bay fries, Mac & cheese, and beer battered cheese curds to start. I personally loved the old bay fries the most - they were really crispy and the seasoning was done really well. For my entree, I had the arugula and Swiss griddle - I added grilled chicken and it was so good! I typically don't like tomatoes in my sandwiches because they often lack flavor, but the menu said the sandwich had roasted tomatoes inside and I have to say, the roasted tomatoes really took the cake for me. The cocktails are good - I had a Carcassone, which was refreshing and I loved the strawberry and lemon flavor. Towards the end of our group meal/hangout, I ordered a pot of the jasmine tea and absolutely loved that! Service was consistent and our server was really friendly! 10/10 would come back. read more

I go here for coffee with a friend every once in a while. Their seasonal drinks tend to be very delicious. I also tried their latte with Thai tea syrup and it was very very good. Not too sweet, surprisingly, which was very nice. Highly recommend it. I've had their food a couple times and it was alright, but nothing special. I would come for their coffee, not their food. They've got a pretty extensive board game set that you can access for a flat fee. I haven't tried it before since I usually have my own, but for those who come to the area without any may find this place a fun time. The shop itself is brightly lit and has an open feel to it. Been back since the renovations, but never gave an update! I finally managed to make it outside of a workday afternoon. It was the weekend for homecoming, and instead of going to party with the wild folks, I decided to go the opposite direction and come here -- they have a great menu for the evening, and I just knew it wouldn't be overcrowded. And I was right! Now, the thing about this place is unless you walk from campus, you're locked in to pay for parking in that garage that gets awfully crowded at peak time. And last time I tried to park there, the machine was broken and I was forced to download one of the parking apps that I don't already have. But enough about parking, back to the spot. The wall is the most noticeable change since renovations, and it's lovely! The cafe still has the same charm and board games are everywhere!! I got a yummy Korean pulled park sandwich and fries... enjoyed everything about it, and loved the ciabatta bread it came on! Friends got cocktails and they are really cool looking -- it doesn't seem like a place that would have a full bar and get creative, but don't be fooled! They're great. This is such a fun and quirky place! Our server, JJ, was attentive and playful despite being slammed for brunch. We arrived late in the afternoon but they still allowed us to order brunch items. I had the mango sticky rice matcha which May has been the best iced matcha I have ever had. I wouldn't recommend it if you have to hop onto a meeting because it can get quite loud in here. Their WiFi is good though and there's plenty of tables to sit at. During our time here my friend and I ordered a couple of snacks, - pickle chips (cornmeal added a nice crunch, I'm not the biggest fan of pickles so I don't know if I would get it again) - meatballs (the meatballs and the sauce were both seasoned well and a good size to share) - Brussels sprouts (decent) - frozen mint lemonade (really delicious, kind of pricey) We didn't have time to play games but they had tons of shelves with every game you could think of. I had a great time, I came to enjoy the atmosphere and do some homework. I was located in a perfect area where I had an outlet which was amazing. They have wifi. I started with a peppermint mocha which was so good I will definitely be back again! They have so many different flavors of coffee. I had the fried pickles as an appetizer and I definitely recommend they tasted very fresh. My entire was the brew burger, it was okay wasn't a big fan. Board and Brew gets a full five stars from me! The staff was super helpful. The game selection is glorious. The food is worth ordering. The coffee was good, too! There is a $6 charge per person to play games. At first, I was like... huh? But then I realized that's more than fair, given the table space you take up with the games. We ordered breakfast, and I got their vegan bagel with chickpea pancakes. Holy cow, this is a thing of beauty. I love that their vegan option wasn't just slapped together, but it is thoughtful and intentional. I really liked. We got a couple of seasonal lattes. They were good. The star, though, is the gaming section. So many games to choose from! We played two all the way through and explored a third. We were able to play games we had heard about to find out if we actually liked them. We had an awesome morning date, and I absolutely recommend getting there early. This place was so cool! My friend and I had a few hours to kill before a movie at the AMC and she suggested Board and Brew. It was only $5 to play unlimited games. We also ordered food and drink and they were great too. The tables were large enough for both our food and the games. There was even a staff member who would come over and offer game ideas based on what kinds of games you like. We already had some ideas on what games we wanted to play but this is a cool service if you're more undecided. Our server was very nice and kept checking on us but not in a rushing us out way. We ordered some peppermint hot chocolate and I was tickled to see some art in it. So cute! I also got the Korean Pulled Pork sandwich on gluten free bread. Honestly such good vibes and the service was great. All of the people that I interacted with were so kind and it's such a homey, cute cafe style suitable for any age-range. There are tables if you want to have a traditional restaurant feel or there are comfy couches to chill on. I'm starting to love fall because of the change in food menus. The Specter (London Fog with lavender and honey) is truly elite!!! You can really taste the lavender, so if you're a not fan then you might not like it, but tea connoisseurs would love it. The tastes of the drink are distinct but go so well together, especially when it's iced and with oatmilk!!!! Also, if you love fries and Maryland, then get the Old Bay fries because they were cooked perfectly and stayed so crispy throughout the whole time I was there. I can't forget to mention the 800+ games on the shelf for customers to play either, or the game expert-employee with a mohawk who is super nice and knowledgeable! My wife and I visit Board and Brew, almost weekly. I even threw her a surprise birthday in which we filled up a side room. Our experience has been great 99% of the time which is pretty good odds! Our servers are always very pleasant and the atmosphere is great. I only have one complaint, the magical Brew Burger was removed from the menu ! I have started a petition to bring it back and would go to congress to lobby for its return but the government keeps shutting down. This place is great! The vibe is everything - I didn't play games but it seems like a good deal for the various games that could be played! The waitress was really attentive and was looking out for me and my friend :) The cheeseburger I got yesterday was good well (I had asked for medium) but it was still juicy and the patty was thick. It satisfied my burger craving though. My friend got the chicken and waffles sandwich and it seemed to be good other than the bread was toasted well so it got hard towards the end of her meal. The best part of the meal has to be hands down the sweet potato fries! It's very crispy and thin but has a lot of potato still. It's like the perfect combination! I usually play the same games: Settlers of Catan, Monopoly Deal, Resistance, and Sushi Go. Board and Brew has so many games I've never heard of. Fried pickles definitely needed more cornmeal batter and the red pepper aioli didn't pair nicely with it. The hushpuppies were flaky and pretty big. It's not your typical hushpuppies. The chipotle jelly doesn't pair nicely with it either. Same with the wings, the sauce just didn't go well with them. But this is my personal opinion and taste in food. Everything was cooked well. My favorite thing here was the s'mores latte - I mean, just look at my photo!!!! When it arrived at the table, I was like "No way!" The presentation is beautiful.
