I can verify this happened to me multiple times before I caught on. 1) Get quote on vehicle 2) Pay quote in full 3) Months later (but way before policy renewal) get a letter from Pat demanding for more money 4) Contact Pat and he says "Sorry, can't help! Sorry your quote wasn't right! Pay me more money!" Unless I pay the extra, Pat threatens to cancel my policy early. This, ladies and gentlemen, is how a company baits and switches.
