Eating their free cookie

This is a standard stop on our way to Dallas. You walk in to a light airy environment. I always get the raisin bread and pecan bread to take home. The chicken salad sandwich on pecan bread is my favorite sandwich. It also has lettuce and tomatoes. The chicken salad is not sweet which is a nice change from my normal one. So yummy! The littles get a free cookie and o get to choose from their large assortment. Some of my favorites are: praline, lemon, nugget, cherry, and Russian rock. The staff is always so pleasant. LaTeka checked us out today and she was sweet, efficient and helpful.

They did everything right with regards to the texture of the cookie batter. I can taste the brown and white sugar mixing nicely. The cookie is also cute with the bright colors I adore so much. The staff was friendly and the place gave mom and pop shop vibes. They're famous for their fruit cake which was gifted to me - I could tell from the high quality packaging and taste this is no ordinary fruit cake. They did an amazing job (this is not sponsored )

Chocolate Chip Cookies to go!

Finally found this place after years - decades even - of searching! If you're passing through Corsicana, it's worth a pit stop for a taste of Texas baking history. Some say it's a haven for fruitcake lovers, but I can't vouch for that. What I can tell you is that the bakery counter has loads of baked goods that should satiate just about any sweet-tooth. The folks behind the counter were quite hospitable, with tongs and waxed paper bags at the ready! This place is set out like an old fashioned candy store.

Popular, homey, roadside stop between Houston & Dallas.

All morning, I was thinking about stopping at this popular roadside destination on my way back from Dallas to Houston. I had not been here in a few years. I left feeling just underwhelmed and sort of 'meh'. It's a charming destination. And a great break from a road trip. If you like cookies and fruit cake then this is the spot for you! To their credit, this is not your grandma's dried -out Christmas fruit cake. This is a tender, sweet, moist, homemade fruit cake with many flavorful variations. (And free samples!) There's plenty of seating in their bright open dining room. I couldn't comprehend a pecan bread with tuna salad, so I requested homestyle white egg bread substitutions-- and there's a $3.50 up charge - for white bread! It was explained the white bread slices are significantly larger. I found the homestyle white bread dry and wished I would've just stuck with the original menu recommendation. They got my order wrong. And served me a chicken salad sandwich instead of the tuna I ordered. But to their credit, they did fix it and bring me another sandwich right away. The cup of Cheesy Chicken Enchilada soup was the highlight of my meal. Next time, I probably would just get soup and maybe a cookie for dessert.

Deviled eggs sandwich

We were lured in by the charging stations (which are slow) but we decided to get lunch here. It was a busy holiday travel weekend and the place was packed. Staff was friendly but the wait was a bit long for carry-out. It seemed like there was only one guy working the kitchen. There's lots of small samples of the different kind of fruit cakes around so you can occupy your time with small bites. The cakes themselves are a bit pricey. We ordered the turkey bacon ranch sandwich and the deviled egg sandwich. The turkey sandwich was good. I've had better deviled eggs but kudos to them for putting them in a sandwich. I did like the vintage photos around. Sorry, but probably won't stop again. Been there, done that.

The aroma of freshed baked cookies, strong iced coffee and friendly staff, definitely a place I want to come back to.

Ask the Community - Collin Street Bakery

Hello, which location is the original and do y'all sell fruitcake all year round? Thank you.

You want Downtown Corsicana on 7th St. The original bakery was on Collin St. but this is the location you're thinking of. Fruitcake is available year-round.

What ingredients are in the cheese crisps? I bought a couple over the weekend when I stopped on my way to Dallas. Do they have rice crispies in them? I'm asking for allergen information.

Yes, they do have rice crispies.

Any gluten free items?

Dear Elizabeth R, Our macaroons and pecan nuggets are gluten free. However, they are only sold in… Read more

(Note: Despite the short lines at the restaurant and services, the Tesla chargers way too quick. So keep an eye on the Tesla App). The restaurant is so clean and so is the bathroom. The food is tasty and the fruit cakes are heavenly! We've been back there twice, but I gobbled up their food before I remember to take pictures. Next time! I promised!

First, we were notified it had shipped. Today, we got a notice that instead of the Classic Fruitcake, Pecan Pie, and cookie assortment contained in the Christmas Sampler, they substituted four pecan pies. NOT appropriate and not happy. This is a senior couple who do receive guests, but four pecan pies?! Would have been nice to receive some kind of notification of the need to substitute and a better choice of items. Update: Jan 14, 2026 I never change my star rating on a review. This is an exception. I noted previously that my Christmas Sampler order was completely changed and delivered, but not what we ordered, and had no benefit of being notified of the change, nor a choice of a new gift. However, our recipient received their gift and notified me that they received not four pecan pies, as I'd thought, but four fruit cakes. This might have been a problem for someone else, but our recipient loved the fruit cakes! Glad she's a fan!
