Downhill or just a disappointment to nostalgia? Not sure, but it wasn't good. Since I was a kid, my dad would make a point to stop here on his way back from work trips in Dallas. He always brought home that famous FRUIT CAKE, and it was the only fruitcake our family enjoyed. It was a holiday staple. This time (many years later) on the way back from my own work trip, I excitedly stopped by for some goodies. It fell way below expectations from the get-go. None of the employees seemed familiar with products, pricing, availability, etc. they all seemed lost (perhaps seasonal help for the holidays?). On a Friday afternoon, there weren't many offerings in the bakery display. Still, I wanted to sample a little of everything. So, I got 2 dozen cookies, some cake slices, breads.... And of course the FRUIT CAKE. I brought the fruit cake to my parents for Christmas, and thank goodness that recipe hasn't changed. That was the only thing that made the trip worthwhile at all.... Everything else was TERRIBLE. Stale, dry, bland, boring. I'm convinced most of it has been sitting on the shelf for a few days (maybe a couple of weeks). Nothing was fresh or tasty. Just ewww. Everything is great as promised. Staffs were friendly. We stopped there once when we found out, there's multiple Tesla charging outlets next to the restaurant. (Note: Despite the short lines at the restaurant and services, the Tesla chargers way too quick. So keep an eye on the Tesla App). The restaurant is so clean and so is the bathroom. I got to go to the infamous Colin street bakery with my friend. We visited Corsicana did a little tour and of course this was one of the stops. I got to taste a sample of their fruitcake, because they have them all around the store. And I'll say for fruitcake, it was pretty tasty but I chose to buy 2 cookies instead. I got a lemon cookie and a cranberry cookie. They were recommended by the staff and they did not steer me wrong. I meant to take a picture but after I took the first bite, it was over because they were both so tasty. They have so many different treats in the shop, from cookies to cakes to preserves and relishes, they even have a little cafeteria where you can order food. If and when I come back to Corsicana, I will definitely have to come back and try more of their treats. If you're in town, I would recommend you stop by as well. read more

We received the 2025 Holiday Catalog, noted the location in Texas, and thinking that would be closer to our friends than an equivalent out of state, ordered their Christmas Sampler, item #42312, on sale and priced at $79.95. First, we were notified it had shipped. Today, we got a notice that instead of the Classic Fruitcake, Pecan Pie, and cookie assortment contained in the Christmas Sampler, they substituted four pecan pies. NOT appropriate and not happy. This is a senior couple who do receive guests, but four pecan pies?! Would have been nice to receive some kind of notification of the need to substitute and a better choice of items. Update: Jan 14, 2026 I never change my star rating on a review. This is an exception. I noted previously that my Christmas Sampler order was completely changed and delivered, but not what we ordered, and had no benefit of being notified of the change, nor a choice of a new gift. However, our recipient received their gift and notified me that they received not four pecan pies, as I'd thought, but four fruit cakes. My experience has been poor. I ordered a fruit cake with expedited shipping and it has not arrived or even left the bakery according to UPS tracking after more than week although they sent a notice that it has shipped. So I question the expedited shipping charge. Very disappointed. read more

Funny, I had just read an article last week about a fruitcake recipe for those who don't like fruit cake. Cute little establishment in town. The ambience is casual and the service was good. Tried a sample of the fruitcake and it was actually pretty tasty. The place has a nice little setup with a few tables and chairs but it's nothing like the one off of 45 South. Not a large variety as the 45 S location but ok. It is a little pricey. Bought a small 11 oz jar of cinnamon honey since I like trying local hand crafted items but it was $14.25 a jar. This is the only reason for 4 stars. If I did return it would be to the larger location. read more

Placed an order on line for Father's Day on June 4, 2025. Order fell through the cracks due to a system upgrade. Was told by customer service that they would submit new order and expedite shipping. Couple days later, still had not received shipping conf so called again. Was told that person I spoke with did not submit order, they would re submit. This was on a Thurs, was further told no more orders would be shipped until the upcoming Monday. Never saw a shipping confirmation. Contacted them again and was told package when to shipper and they would notifiy me when they ship. I emailed customer service and requested to speak with someone from Management, to date, no one has contacted me. I contacted the offices and left a voicemail for Sephanie and to date she has not returned my call. I did get a shipping confirmation yesterday (Wednesday) that package finally shipped. I had emailed requesting a full refund. I got a response from customer simply stating the following: "I am sorry that this happened. I do show the order is out for delivery today. In that same email I also requested to be refuned for my shipping cost that I paid on the original order...crickets. I could have cancelled the order, but it's for my step dad with demintia, he doesn't need anything, he just really likes their fruit cakes. I'm in disbelief on the lack of response and customer service, from customer service and management. So order placed on June 4, is to arrive today, June 19. No discount, no credit, even after I requested one. I'm very dissappointed. read more

I've been a customer for years, but their last shipment totally sucked, and Qonetta in customer service would rather argue than actually help. Website was not working when I tried to place the order, but according to her, it was working. If it was working I would have placed my order online, like I've done many times before. Cookies arrived late and broken, but they refuse to refund my money. Fruitcake hasn't even shipped yet, but she refuses to cancel my order. Stopped for lunch on the road at the CSB on I-45...my petite turkey sandwich was good, hubby ordered the cobb salad and they pulled it right out of the grab and go counter... We ordered 2 soups the potato bacon was very bland and the potatoes could have been more done... Hubby said chicken noodle had a weird lemon taste to it.... **UPDATE** I received a phone call from one of the fourth generation owners today. He listened to the call and was so upset the way I was treated. He was so apologetic. Because of his call I know they care and I will continue doing business with Collin Street! They are good people! Thank you Thomas for reaching out, it really meant a lot to me! I had placed an order for Christmas Fruit cakes for the last 5 or so years and not had problems until last year and now this year also. I ordered 4 cakes on 11-26 with no delayed time frame. I wanted them to go now due to the issue I had last year. I noticed that they were stuck in limbo in Irving, TX on Dec 16th and called the company. They reordered the cakes and said that they would make it by Christmas. On Christmas Eve I called and spoke with a supervisor (I believe her name was Alicia) who argued with me showing that the original order was delivered. I asked for email proof. I never got and and verified with the people I was gifting these too for Christmas and they were not delivered. When I checked the original tracking numbers they came back as not valid. The supervisor not only lied to me but also told me because I choose standard shipping that they would not expedite the order. Standard shipping was to take 5-7 business days - They had 19 businesses days to get the Christmas presents delivered and they did not do it. The supervisor was very rude and unprofessional and since they cant deliver as they promise, this will the be the last time I order. read more

It's hard for me to write a bad review... BUT... my grandmother (nearly 90yrs old) ordered my husband and I 2 cheesecakes in the first week of Dec. she ended up getting the run around on the order forever. Thurs Jan 22, 2026 I was notified that the package was on its way via USPS. Now, this was a frozen weekend for Austin, the mail delivery was delayed- but then Monday was MLK Jr day... so the package left their facility on Thursday and was not delivered to us (2hrs away) until Wednesday noonish. Upon arrival we opened it to find no ice packs, just 1 cheesecake wrapped in an insulated sheet. My husband opened the box, we checked the temp- it was 65 degrees. This was only 1 cheesecake. I still had not received a message at this point about the second. I called to inform them that their shipping was not packaged correctly and one employee said she would reship (mind you- this was AFTER I explained to her that we received our first pie at room temp). She THEN called back and said since the package hadn't been sent, there was no need to replace. I will assume she is speaking about the second as I was holding the first. I called back- another woman said that they don't typically send things on a Thursday or Friday so they aren't delayed but somehow this slipped through. She offered to overnight us a replacement at no cost. Again, this was Wednesday noonish. On Friday we received a message that the cheesecake had shipped UPS. We checked the tracking number on Saturday and it said it would be delivered. We checked with UPS and they said they wouldn't deliver on a Saturday as Collin St Bakery did not pay for Saturday delivery. So again, the cheesecake sat in the truck all weekend, not being delivered until today (Monday). The 2nd cheesecake was also sent today, that one was sent USPS and was sent out on 12/30. What do you know, we opened the boxes and BOTH cheesecakes were 64+ degrees and had NO ice packs in the boxes!! We are over it. Had grandma call to get her refund and told CSB to keep their cheesecakes. This has absolutely been the WORST experience I've ever had with any company. To put all of that stress on my grandmother JUST to only be refunded after 2 months of monkey business. And somewhere in all of that, we find out today that they were out of Icepacks. Why even send things if you cannot properly package things! There is such thing as "too big for your britches"... maybe you've outgrown yourself. Thanks for nothing CSB. read more

I've purchased their fruit cakes and other items for several years and if unhappy for any reason they have always made it right. The fruit cakes are as wonderful as they have always been. My problem is with their shipping service. DHL is the worst shipper ever. It usually takes 5-9 days to reach me in north FL and it looks like the box was used as a football. On 2 occasions I never received the cake as it went to another address. I recently contacted CS and requested that future shipping be handled by FedEx. I was told that the only way they will use FedEx is if I request overnight delivery at a cost of $30. So if I want a cake on sale for $30 it will actually cost $60 if I use FedEx. If DHL is my only option then I will no longer purchase online from them. read more

Collins St. says that the Apricot Pecan Cake is their most popular cake. If that is the case, why have they stopped making the Medium size? (2LB 14oz). The cake Collins St. is making now is too small and also overpriced for the size. I would like to also point out the way Collins St. packages the cakes to send internationally is terrible. The cakes we received from you were nearly lost for the second time because the carton you packed them in fell apart. All that was holding it together was one 2inch piece of clear sticky tape wrapped around the areas of the carton that hold the carton together. Large areas of the tape had become unstuck and the cakes were falling out. It's a miracle the carton did not totally fall apart and then the cakes would have been lost again. I recall that in a previous year the same thing happened and we received a carton that the postal service had had to patch up, and advise us that the packaging was inadequate. Collins St. needs to look at the basics, not just slick advertising. read more

First, I am one of those who adore fruit cake. Not the nasty, dry lumps of cardboard, mind you, but the real deal. Moist, loaded with goodies, and great flavor. I'd never tried a Collin Street Bakery fruit cake until today. My local supermarket had some of these gems in the bakery section, so I of course had to pick up two, fingers crossed that this fruit cake would satisfy my Holiday cravings. I hit the jackpot! The Collins Street Bakery fruit cake is everything I'd hoped for. Not just beautiful to look at (love the festive tin), but downright deliciousness in every bite. This cake is chock-full of all the things that make a great fruit cake - pecans in every bite, lovely moist fruit chunks, and a flavor that almost makes me cry. I'll be heading back to the market to score a third fruit cake - that is, if they're not already sold out. As you can tell, I'm a huge fan. And it only took one delicious bite! read more

Super tasty world famous fruit cake. Try their Pecan cake also. They have multiple variations of their Pecan Cake so it's hard to decide which one to buy. Of course, try their samples. The cinnamon rolls looked good, but I'll try that next time. Something for everyone, cookies, cakes, pies, cheesecakes, and fritters to name a few. They've got a breakfast and lunch menu also. Service staff are really nice and helpful. Good coffee too! I love this place! I've been coming since I was a little girl and they've definitely upgraded the building since then. Ha I love them so much I used the cherry icebox cookies as wedding favors when I got married 8 years ago. My current favorite is the lemon sugar cookies. Of course I always have to get a pecan bread! ABSOLUTELY horrific customer service - I am beyond frustrated. They took way too long to send my order and completely mixed it up. They shafted me weeks later by sending the wrong order early 12/23. My order had my same first name and a different last name in it so they obviously screwed up two orders. They are impossible to get hold of. Won't answer email, won't call me back after waiting for hours and days I never get a call back. Someone from management needs to order a grilled chicken salad and try to eat it. It has to be the worst I have ever tasted. The chicken is not grilled, first of all. It has absolutely NO FLAVOR at all. Take of bite of it alone, no flavor except a frozen flavor. Also, who in the South does not serve lemons with iced tea? Both locations didn't have them out. One location found some, sliced them, and delivered to our table. The other said they don't use them so they don't have them. So just know, no lemons in your tea??????? Anyway, the feeling I got is that the lunch items are a side service. They are focused on selling promotional products and a few baked products. I ordered the Deluxe Fruitcake from Collin Street bakery on 12/23/2024 because I was not able to go purchase one in their store this year like I always have. We were looking forward to the yearly can of goodness as always only to be let down. The cake we received tasted stale and dry like it had been sitting in a warehouse for a year or more. We attempted to consume it once more and gave up and threw the whole thing in the trash. I am only writing the review here because I posted a review twice on their website and it got deleted. My son bought me a Collin Street Bakery fruit cake (that's what the box said) from a local grocery store (Rouses). When I opened the box/tin I realized it was a Pecan Cake not a fruit cake. Unfortunately I've been removing the excess pecans and still there were too many nuts. He paid $40.00 for a cake that I can't eat. I was just driving through Corsicana and had heard a lot about the Collins Street Bakery fruit cake. And it was a lovely surprise to see that they offered a deli menu for lunch. I went with the spicy roast beef with chips and a drink and it was 9.85, which is very reasonable. This was for a half sandwich. The bread was fresh and had jalapeños in the crust. That's how it became a spicy sandwich. But it's not really spicy, it's very tasty. You can purchase a fruitcake and the staff will provide you with samples of the different kinds. Now, while the food was cheap, the fruit cake isn't. A small is around $21...but the samples I tasted were yummy. read more
