The office runs like a well oiled machine. Low wait time, professional employees, and comfortable waiting areas.

The constant text messages to fill out the same paperwork is overkill We are always on time for every visit. Yet we wait and wait and wait. All while someone behind us in the waiting room is coughing constantly. This is not right. Then when I asked if we were going to have to wait longer to see dr. Friedrich, the assistant told us we were lucky we weren't waiting 3 hours. And when dr. Fredrick came in and I asked him why we wait so long, he told my husband I think your wife needs a drink. Now I worked in the medical field for years and when we were behind, we apologized to our patients and did everything to make them feel welcome. Today we did not feel that way. The post op was too extreme. I wasn't there for open heart surgery! I understand there should be awareness and concern regarding the surgery,however I felt as if they were preparing me for major surgery,and the questioning of my answers about my overall health made me feel intimidated or uncomfortable. I do try to give them the benefit of their profession,but it was too professional and not much personal concern of the patient. I felt more confused when I checked out. It wasn't a good experience at this location. I hope my experience with the laser surgery is better. The elderly need to be treated with kindness and much patience. Wish I had read the reviews first. Had cataract surgery. First eye went beautifully. Seems like I got the "C" team for the second eye. Waited an hour and 15 minutes in lobby. When I was brought in for surgery, it was a different team, less interested in good care. Anesthesia was not correct. Wide awake during the breaking of my lense. Nurse who was doing the breakup yelled at me as I was moving. Finally exasperated, said the job she did was "good enough". Procedure took 3 hours vs 1 1/2 vs the first time. I had a traumatic experience the day before yesterday at Collins Vision under the "grip" of arrogant, unprofessional, and incompetent staff. I was there for three hours, showing an abundance of patience while noticing red flags before my eyes. It was an uneasy feeling to see so many odd behaviors among staff, from the head nurse down, everyone was having a "bad" day. I'm slow to judge and do go the extra mile before complaining. But yesterday... I was abused by Collins more than once. To make matters worse, they act with complete impunity" as if they have the right to mistreat patients and get away with it without accountability. Well, perhaps that in itself is an indication that there is no accountability from the top down. Today, someone called me and instead of apologizing for "something" they missed yesterday, she harassed me rudely. Even after 24 hrs from the occurrence, I still feel shaken by her treatment. If she had apologized, it would have made a significant difference. The same goes for at least 5 "counselors" I saw during my pre-op, but no one gave me the services required and needed. At some point, the last one I saw was disoriented and confessed she didn't know how to do what she was asked... While I appreciated her honesty, I wondered how dangerous it was to put the fate of my eyes in the hands of the nurse and her surgical counselor I had seen before her. All equally arrogant, short-fused, and in so many ways lacking the demeanor and competence they should have. I wondered while subjected to that treatment why they were forgetting manners, empathy, and respect for their patients. It was not only one person who suffered from that problem there. I have never seen anything like that in my life! Sarcastic, rude, incompetent, what a toxic combination! I cancelled my surgery. They will not have a chance to ruin my vision as they did to many patients. Now, I know after checking multiple review sites and Collins records. PATIENTS BE AWARE. They are not BBB-accredited. I do not wonder why. Shameful and risky. No one came forward to apologize, but sure enough, I got a bill today - via txt -- even though they do not have the right to do so. Horrible results. Vision worse after procedure. Nurse does the laser procedure and patient changes beds before doctor continues. She is horrible and has a high opinion of herself that is unmerited. Collins doesn't see patient after surgery even if there is a problem. He is much to arrogant. St Marks, where procedure is done, is unfriendly, unprofessional and uncaring. If I could give 10 stars, I certainly would. I've had several appointments with Dr. Collins. I had a free consultation for LASIK. Which went very well. I did all the eyes tests with their state of the art machines. I met with several people giving the exams and all have been nice and informative. I'm not good with names but I did remember a few, like Dawn. She explained the cost and the medications I would be taking. And how to take the medications. I felt so comfortable that I didn't even go home and think about it. I scheduled my appointment for LASIK that day. When getting LASIK, you can't drive so you need to have someone drive you to and from. Easy if you have lived here for a while and have made friends. I on the other hand am not from Florida and have only been here a few months. Turns out that they have or somehow sort of affiliated with a driving service. That's the route I had to go. The drivers name is Ricardo, and he was the nicest, most gentleman person I've ever met. Highly recommend him. I want to be clear this is not an UBER service etc. At St. Marks for the LASIK surgery, Dawn and Felisha were both there. A few others and of course Dr. Collins. I believe Dawn was the one putting eye drops in all of our eyes. There was 4 total getting LASIK the same day as me. We got several drops put in our eyes prepping us for the surgery. When it was my turn, Felisha held my arm as we walked in. I did take 1 Valium before surgery. It's recommended. Felisha held my hand the whole time as I laid down for the first procedure. There's a suction cup that holds your eye open. This is when they make the flap. Then you move to another bed where a clamp holds your eye open. You don't feel a thing. But can see everything. Totally chill. Don't be afraid of this surgery if you're thinking about LASIK. Honestly, I didn't need the Valium. I had no fear from the get go. Nothing hurt. But Felisha held my hand the whole time. Dr. Collins kept saying "you're doing great" "almost done" just extremely comforting the whole time. Felt like it took 5 mins all together. I think getting the drops took longer than the actual surgery. We did a quick exam to make sure everything was good to go, and off to home I went. Because of the Valium, I did sleep for a few hours. When I woke up, my eye felt like sand paper. I used my drops and it relieved a little, but still was uncomfortable. I stayed awake for a few hours and then just went to bed. The next morning my eye felt amazing. I could see the clock without my glasses! Let me say that again, I could see my clock without my glasses. Holy eye sight Batman! Dr. Collins is a flipping genius! I took my eyes out on a date. I drove without glasses. I read a menu without glasses. I went to the movies without glasses. I drove at night without glasses. I'm wearing sunglasses now! I haven't worn sunglasses in 10 years! I do notice if my sight is a little off, it's because my eye is dry. So I just put my drops in, and I'm good to go. My follow up was today, and again, my eye is doing really well. I did the eye exams and everything is looking good. I'm going to do another follow up just because my eye was dry and he wants to make sure that everything is perfect. I do want to note that I only had my left eye done Please don't be afraid of LASIK. It doesn't hurt. And you're going to be like, wow, why did I wait so long to do this! read more

I have only been seen at Collins twice ( 2 years of regular exams) as we recently moved to Ft Myers. Last week I frantically suspected a retina detachment and went in and it was confirmed. I want to thank Amanda in appts for getting me in so quick and Briana for tirelessly calling retina specialist all over to get me in the same day at 3 pm. This took over an hour. 2 days later later I was in surgery. This was an urgent situation and I was expertly handled from all areas. Thank you! read more

I went there to find out about the floaters in my eyes. Next thing I knew I was being moved from room to room like I was getting a vision test. You go from room to room person to person and you only see the doctor at the end for maybe 5 minutes max. Dilated my eyes twice and left without the dark glasses most eye doctors give you. I've lived in SW Florida for the past 3-1/2 years and recently switched eye doctors to Collins Vision and Dr. Jason Friedrichs. They are absolutely terrific. All of their staff from the people at the front desk to the techs who support Dr. Friedrichs are kind, caring, and very personable. They clearly understand delivering excellent patient care. Dr. Friedrichs is a breath of fresh air. He's clearly a very capable doctor and on top of all that, he's a really nice person. He has a terrific bedside manner, and takes the time to answer your questions and make you feel like you are in good hands. In my two visits with him I never felt like he was rushing off to see another patient or looking at his watch thinking about all the other things he had to do that day. I had been seeing another ophthalmologist at another practice and left there because of a number of issues (the practice kept me waiting for a very long time for every appointment, the doctor was brusque and impersonal, and at the end of the day, their treatment approach wasn't resolving my eye problems). Went in to talk about getting Cataracts surgery and told them up front I had already been to another vision center that had prescribed the surgery so I didn't want any testing that wasn't absolutely necessary. Dr Friedrichs informed me they would oblige. After finishing the tests I was given options for the Catarachs surgery and quoted prices that were well over double the rates I had been quoted by the first place (almost $12,000 for the upgraded lenses!) with the excuse that they use lasers and the other place doesn't. I decided to hold off on making a decision so I could check reviews. The reviews for both places were far below expectations and even scary. A few days later I got a bill for $120 for items my insurance supposedly didn't cover. After that I got a statement from Medicare showing how much Collin's had billed my insurance for the 4 or 5 tests I was given including almost $300 just for the office visit. The total came to around $3000!. This is nothing but a money grab that I assume is attempting to capitalize on the wealth in Naples. As vulnerable consumers, we should be able to trust doctors to take care of us and treat us with respect regarding our vision and eye care. I'm learning the hard way that the opposite is true. read more

I used Collins several times for routine eye exam and when I had a cyst. Generally Dr. Rosen was ok even though he barely spent time with them, however they follow up very aggressively with telemarketing. last time i had a call and told them there was no need for a follow up on my condition, but was interested in a routine eye exam in a few months. Well, apparently someone set up the appointment and I received a text to confirm I would come to it. It was set to 3 days later. I cancelled appointment that I never made and received a cancellation confirmation. 3 weeks later I receive a missed appointment letter and $100 charge. mmmm. Sent them letter telling them I will file fraud charges is billed again. 3 days later I receive a message that time for follow up. I did not answer as I am afraid to. If they call, do not answer. had 9:45 appointment for cataract surgery asked to see the dr about previous yag surgery done the day before, I was told he was busy and to speak to an assistant! At 1145 I was told the dr was running late and he needs another hour! I left, walked to thier office 1/2 mile away to get a reappointment, this, after staff was nasty to me ! Wtf , I mean to hell with you it's about me , nasty, I cancelled, called the cc company , explained the situation and demanded a complete refund! At no point did Collins try to contact me to correct the ( lye) when the dr was not even on premise, as , I would have made a decision to stay or leave based on honesty ! I did get a refund! ,,,,,my recomindation is to stay away unless your time , eyesight is not important to you! This critical care nurse and regulatory specialist can not type a strong enough warning. The unlicensed counselors use lies and scare tactics to upsell cataract surgery add-ons. They're disrespectful, but I got through that. But I had post operative complications which I kept reporting ( four times to Angelina, Megan, again Angelina and Nicole) and I was denied even one post operative appointment with the surgeon. That is far from standards of care. Only after I wrote a review about these deficiencies was I allowed to make the first appointment to be seen by a surgeon for assessment for post op complications. But instead of examinaing me, he entered the room spewing insults, rants, ridicules and verbal abuse. When I tried to speak in defense, he refused to let me speak more than 2 syllables. Women were just not to speak in his presence. When I got up to remove myself from the abuse, he switched to abusive gaslighting and continued as I left the room and walked down the hallway. I asked the front office staff for their procedure to request my medical records (as is my right under federal law) so I could go elsewhere, but they refused that patient right also. I moved to Florida recently and needed to find an Ophthalmologist to follow up with my eye conditions. After several attempts to speak to a live person. I gave up. Each time I called someone picked up the line to then place me on hold again without speaking . Then somehow it goes to a mailbox that has not been set up. Poor customer service. You are either short staffed, hate your job or the staff is not competent. I've gone to Thrift shops with better customer service skills. read more

I do not personally use this doctor. My mother had 2 corneal transplants here.1st didn't take second seems to be doing well. However, I have to say the office section is totally off. She had a bad reaction to the anesthesia that was used. When we went in the office I asked for a trash can the receptionist told me they were not a surgical center and kept working on her computer. We got one but only after she saw my other could barely stand & being asked 3x. I have also brought my mother here on 2 separate occasions they have "forgotten" her for almost a hour. That is completely unacceptable to forget a patient for a hour when their main course of action to getting better is laying flat on their back. Doctor Collins is great. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRACTICE: In my first meetings with Dr. Collins, and his charming associates, I was so snowed that I fell victim to a $7,530.K Cash payment up front, Over what my insurance covered. This was presented as for an upgraded cataract procedure. Throughout I was dinged for an extra $75.-100. cash here and there. Now, 8 months after surgery on both eyes, with numerous tweaks, it feels like I was conned into a failed experiment: While reading is usually ok, my distance and night vision are Not much improved. And now, 24/7 I see everything through what looks like cob webs with little insects darting around. Dr. Collins said I needed to trust him with more surgery involving lots of Valium, strong prescription eye drops and an eye patch! Feeling like a lab rat I last left his office in tears. Very disappointed! One of the reasons I went to Collins was because in addition to not being able to read as well, I began seeing thousands of small floaters in my right eye which happened very suddenly. I was told I needed cataract surgery and the floaters would soon dissipate. I made an appointment to see another opthamologist to get a second opinion because in the meantime, I was losing my peripheral vision in my right eye. The other Dr. examined me and told me I had a detached retina and I needed to get to the retina center within the next 48 hours or I would lose my sight. Thankfully they treated me the same day with a procedure called Pneumatic retinopexy. It seemed to work, so far. Why didn't Dr. Collins diagnose this problem? True, I do need cataract surgery eventually, but I will not have Collins Vision perform it on me. read more

Then was charged an outrageous refraction fee on top of what my insurance company paid for. My insurance company instructed my co pay was $100.00. Just got a call from a collection agency for $32.50 with a threat that it will end up on my credit report and damage my credit. Last year I called this company and the lady I spoke with told me that they took my insurance. I scheduled an appointment as directed. When I arrived for my appointment a lady instructed me to use the kiosk and follow the directions. After this was complete I waited to have my vision checked. Once vision test was completed I was told my insurance didn't cover all of that was needed for my vision test and I needed to pay additional amount, upwards of $200. I did so being this was my first vision check with this company. Thinking that my next visit would be for my glasses I received another bill in the mail stating my insurance didn't cover anything that had been done previously. Well I immediately called and stated my case. They agreed and voided the balance. Now a year has gone by and I once again recieved an invoice for not making my appointment. My appointment? I'm unsure why they had me scheduled for an appointment when they knew I didn't have the insurance previously and wasn't coming back to purchase glasses. Again I immediately called this company and spoke with a lady who clearly didn't want to hear my case. Basically she said I should have made the appointment and that now I refused to make payment Absolutely I refuse payment due to their mistake and lack of morals towards a patient that was misinformed about the insurance they said they accepted. I have had a disappointing experience With Collins vision . When I had my cataract procedure. They scheduled me for the procedure at 11am . They told me I couldn't have any water after 12am the night before. When they finally tried to give me the anesthesia it was 3pm I was totally dehydrated they had difficulty finding my veins. I never have a problem It really hurt and I eas black & blue for weeks . Then I used the drops they gave me and my eyes was still blurry. I went for the follow up a week after surgery. My eyes were still blurry After s month I went in and told them I still Have blurry eyes I need to see a dr today They did no one could see me I would have to wait till tomorrow . Even though I told them I really need s prescription today . They could not make an exception This is no way to run a business . Do my whole experience with them was Very disappointing. I wish I could give a lower rating. I had my cataracts removed and lenses implanted in 2011. I wish someone would have mentioned at the time that this is only a temporary fix since I had to take out a loan for the implants. I have since had to have one eye corrected (blurry) and have had to get glasses again because I failed the driver's license vision test. Please make sure you ask about this during your consultation. I had eyelid surgery in December, 2019 from Dr. Stephen A. Jones. The purpose was to remove heavy eyebrow sagging over my eyelids which had created a dimming of light (sunvisor effect). After a slow recovery from the surgical trauma, it was evident that my eyelids and eyebrows did not have a symmetrical balance, with one eyelid being slightly "different" in appearance to the other. Additionally the primary purpose of this surgery to correct the "visor-effect" was a failure. I was very disappointed in the results and response from Dr. Jones. I was never informed I might have facial asymmetry from the surgical procedure or that results might be ineffectual. read more
