They charged us close to $400 for parts that cost less than $200. They wouldn't allow us to provide the parts - we asked. They then charged a 30% tax, which when my husband called about the cost, they explained was on vehicle repairs in NJ. We were not aware of this. We were also charged an additional 3% fee for using a debit card. My SUV was less. We won't be returning. After making several calls I should have made prior, we were definitely overcharged.

I brought my vehicle and I told them it wouldn't start and that I thought it was the ignition switch, sarcastically he said " everyone thinks they know what's wrong with their car". Later that day he called and stated that it took a lot of work to find the cause of the problem and it wound up being the ignition switch, which I told him to check first. He proceeded to say that it would cost $680 to have the car fixed. When I questioned the amount he said it was because it took him a long time to diagnose the problem and that he had to reprogram my original key and the cost of that was $180 because " he knew someone that would do it cheap". There was no issue with the key he "said" he had reprogrammed because my second key still worked properly. Also, at that time he stated that he would only take cash - no check or credit card. My vehicle was basically held hostage because he said he already started the work. I asked what type of warranty I have and he said "there is no warranty and nothing will break". When I arrived home I noticed that the hood of my vehicle was not down tight and when I checked I saw a razorblade and saw that my wires had been stripped to bare metal. I believe no repair was ever done to the switch because it still wasn't working properly. I immediately called to bring the car back and was told " I don't have time to look at it". I tried several times to call and was given the same response. I had to bring my car somewhere else to fix the wires. Since this issue I checked with various auto shops as well as checking on-line and this repair was TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS but as previously stated he had my vehicle so I was forced to pay the $680 bill. I am writing this to give farewarning to others so that they will not encounter this type of disception and dishonesty.

I then found a rental in Toms River off route 9. A day and half before my need to for a 9 ft. Cargo van, I go to check my reservation in Toms River and Uhaul.com deleted the wrong reservation. So I had no rental vehicle. I went to Ocean Auto Tech and went online to reserve a cargo van. Showed up and everything was perfect. New van with 7,000 miles, great AC and best deal available. Spent the day moving my daughter from her rental apartment to her newly purchased apartment. Had the van back bu closing and it was easy, final bill sent via email. Friendly staff and easy to rent and because it's located at a gas station, easy fill up. Definitely rent again.

After reading some reviews and noting the convenient Toms River location of Craig and Lisa's plus ... yes, it matters to some including the family member in distress ... having a woman to talk with a woman made a huge difference and Lisa I was told was AWESOME, PATIENT, and showcased her knowledge. Thankfully there was no need to check the bank statements for this service and there was no use of imaginary terms that some mechanics tend to use. Lisa was clear in explaining the problem, offered more than one solution, and in the end took care of the problem at an extremely reasonable price! In this one small transaction Craig and Lisa gained a regular customer for all auto care!!!
