My favorite view the beautiful cabins they had!

My husband and I and kids enjoyed everything in this campsite OASIS! So many things to do there. And props to the cook a homemade breakfast pizza! We never tried that, and now my taste buds will always be craving that! The homemade donuts we had were amazing too! ALSO a very clean and up kept place. We really recommend this awesome place. Thank you all for this experience!

Excellent campground. Lots of big mature trees offering lots of shade. Restrooms and showers are very clean with staff cleaning them twice daily. Don't even have to leave the campground to keep the kids entertained as there is a lake for fishing, a huge trampoline, pool and hot tub, game room, and mini golf. The general store provides snacks and anything you might have forgotten at home. Pay laundry machines on site. Owners live on the property and are always out and about. This is not a critique and not something the facility can help, but the soil is very sandy, so be prepared for a bit of a mess in your tent, camper or cabin. Close proximity to wineries, breweries and beaches.

Some sites have patios and patio furniture.

We stayed here for two nights as a stop over on the way to Mackinac Island. The campground had a very modern clubhouse/store. They will even make and deliver pizza to your campsite. There are many things to do for families, kids and even couples. Hiking, volleyball, bikes, heated pool, jumping pad, are just a few of the amenities. They welcome pets. If you don't have a camper they have some cabins to rent, too. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because the sites are pretty close together. We had a pull through and it was a tight turn getting in and out navigating through trees and other occupied sites. It was still quiet private. The campground is 0.5 miles from the exit ramp off the interstate, so if you are making an overnight stop you won't drive far out of your way. There are plenty of trees to buffer the sound although I did hear a train somewhere now and th

Made a visit to Koa on June 15, 2020. Stayed in cabin #2. Woke up in the middle of the night covered in bed bugs. Showed owner proof on my phone of videos and pictures, apparently that is not enough proof since no evidence was found the next day. Was told he would just bomb the cabin himself and did not seem interested in calling a professional to come in. Enter at your own risk!

Here is a cabin, bug filled and a little gross.

Sunny Brook crossed our radar so we booked 3 nights at an owners site. As life would have it, we need to cut our trip short for a family (eldery parents) situation for 2 nights, instead of 3, at Sunny Brook. Elaine explained to us, very firmly and matter of factly, that they will nor refund or give consideration for the 3rd night. As avid RVers, I find that odd. We are not in the habit of reducing our trips or canceling but, I find the matter of fact-Ness and non consideration unappealing.

We prefer not knowing our next door camper neighbor's business. I was looking for a campground to stay at for the weekend. But, every public campground was booked till October. I happened to stubble on Kal-Haven Outpost in a google search and this place was way better than I expected. The owners are a young couple who juggle their business and their little children simultaneously. But, they do their best being focused and attentive to their customer. They answer all my questions and always return phone calls (when I attempted to call them and they were busy). Our spot was in a wooded area and was about 50-75 feet away from the next door campers. Our campsite had a fire ring, tent area and picnic table. The bathhouse is accessible for everyone staying at Kal-Haven. The bathrooms were extremely clean and awesome. So much nicer than any other campgrounds I have stayed at. And there are very nice showers with a bench and hooks for hanging clothes and towel. I would recommend this place to everyone in a heartbeat! New, clean and nicest place ever! And I love the office/store/gift shop!

Beaches are beautiful and water is cold early in the season. The day I went there was a high wave advisory so they didn't let people in the water. But we didn't mind the $12 vehicle fee just for the view. South of the park on SR-49, you'll see a Visitors Center, and if we were staying longer, it's a nice stop for local park info, campground reservations, souvenirs, and refreshments. The drive into the state park to Porter Beach takes you through thick woods, and we saw a buck crossing the road, which was a real treat and a reminder that these parks are wild enough. At the end of SR-49, there's an ornate pavilion, and it was closed due to the upcoming holiday, even the cafe and store were closed. The restrooms outside on the boardwalk were open. And we brought our lunch in from Culver's down by I-80. There were only a couple other cars during the time we were there. We pulled up and braved the blowing sand to get a look at the thrashing waters of Lake Michigan. With gusts up to 40mph from an approaching storm, the eaves were spectacular! But it was difficult to stay upright in that wind, not to mention the light sand-blasting we were getting. And we were on the road heading for a holiday visit, so we didnt stay long, only an hour or so. It's a beautiful park, even in the winter. We want to sled down the 170ft dune-canyon known as Devil's Slide!
