Always, always, ALWAYS leave your camp site cleaner than when you arrived is our immutable, unbreakable rule. Bethany and Gregory, the owners, are absolutely wonderful hosts; incredibly friendly, hardworking, and welcoming. The site itself was absolutely gorgeous. We chose a primitive site, as we roll heavy with a full solar power array and bring our own water. We were tucked far enough back to give a fair bit of privacy, but were also lucky enough to be near the porta potties, which, trust me, at 4:00 AM, is a very nice perk to have. The campsites are well situated and clean with level areas for a tent or RV. Many sites are provided with both electrical and water access. The camp has a dump station on site and also has staff who will dump your tanks at your site for a modest fee (so you do not have to unhook and move, then rehookup back at your site during an extended stay). The bath house is an older facility but is kept clean and in excellent condition. Showers are free and hot. The on-site lake is small and very nice for both kids and adults. Access to Lake Michigan is available just minutes away at a public access beach. Across the street is a Nature Conservancy area with several trails. We decided to take advantage of the option to book a site for the whole season (May through September) for our RV. It has been a wonderful decision. We can pack a small bag and be in the RV enjoying the sights and sounds of nature in less than an hour without towing or setting up anything. We really enjoy this area and this campground.

As life would have it, we need to cut our trip short for a family (eldery parents) situation for 2 nights, instead of 3, at Sunny Brook. Elaine explained to us, very firmly and matter of factly, that they will nor refund or give consideration for the 3rd night. As avid RVers, I find that odd. We are not in the habit of reducing our trips or canceling but, I find the matter of fact-Ness and non consideration unappealing.

We rented two Motel Rooms this last weekend in South Haven for two nights for our family. The…read moretotal cost for a Friday and Saturday Night was just under $1,000.00. I rented here because the reviews online that I had read were better than good, but when I really dug into other review sites once I returned home, other than where I booked from, I found a completely different story. I want to make sure that there is a fair recommendation out there for people to really make up their mind on whether or not they should stay here. First, I do want to mention that the owners were very polite to us and we have no issue with them. Also, there is a charm to these old-style motel rooms including the beautiful tile in the bathrooms. Additionally, there are new entry doors with digital locks as well as new windows. And true, this place is serene and great if you like peace and quiet - but still, there are many additional things to take into consideration. Although the rooms appear nice in the pictures, there are still issues like water damaged ceilings, water damaged bathroom doors, leaky tub fixtures (which were also way out of date and require replacing), drywall that needs to be retaped and mudded as well as a musty smell to the rooms that don't show up in pictures. One of the two rooms had bugs, but not because the room was dirty and I'm not talking cock roaches, just bugs. The reason? The wall air conditioner is not sealed on the sides and bugs get in through the outside vent, and then through the side panels that are not sealed against the air conditioner. There were also some inconsistencies like one of the rooms had a microwave, one didn't. One had information about your stay, one didn't. There is no coffee maker or ironing board in the room, but you could ask at the front desk to use these items (listed in the information about the room) we did not, we might have used these items had they been in the room, but since it was not readily available, we just made other arrangements. Again, I really want to be fair here - but these basic amenities plus others like ice were not available to us. Additionally, there was no pool, there was no breakfast. The thing that is really agitating and I think that is important for travelers to know is that there is NOTHING here that justifies the room rates and just because it is in South Haven doesn't justify the price. The weekend before and as a part of this trip, we stayed in a Comfort Inn and Suites that had a nice, comfortable, up to date room, with an indoor pool and included breakfast for $120.00 per room per night in the Wisconsin Dells. For what I paid at Jensen's, it feels like we stayed in a dump.

You simply can't beat the beach access--it's peaceful, beautiful, and never feels overcrowded. We spend our days soaking up the sun, swimming, and ending evenings with bonfires on the beach using the complimentary firewood provided by the property. Our kids absolutely love everything there is to do. Between the pool, tennis courts, pickleball, ping pong, basketball, open grassy areas for wiffle ball and games, and the complimentary bikes and beach cruisers, they're entertained from morning until sunset. One of our favorite parts is that they always seem to meet other kids staying on the property, and before long they're all outside riding bikes, playing games, and making summer memories together. The gated property also gives us peace of mind, making it feel incredibly safe for families. Cottage #7 is the perfect setup for us. It has a bedroom with two twin beds for the kids, a comfortable master bedroom for us, and a den with a pull-out sofa that's perfect when family or friends decide to stay the night. Having a grill and a washer and dryer makes longer stays so much easier. The kitchen has an eclectic collection of dishes and cups, but honestly, that's part of the charm. There's something nostalgic and fun about the mismatched, cottage-style feel that makes it feel like a true home away from home. The grounds are absolutely pristine and beautifully maintained, making every walk around the property enjoyable. Every year we're sad when it's time to leave, and before we're even packed up, we're already looking forward to coming back next summer. Sleepy Hollow has become much more than just a vacation rental--it's where our family makes some of our favorite summer memories. And yes some cottages are more updated than others, but it's the property and beach access you're getting that's priceless. Not having to pack up a car and drive to a crowded beach everyday is by far a luxury in itself!

The bathroom had a jacuzzi which was a great addition and a balcony with chairs to get some fresh air and enjoy a cup of coffee. We felt super comfortable like we were staying at a family members home. The food presentation was great and delicious. We would definitely stay again. Also the inn is super close to the downtown area for shopping, bars, restaurants and other events which was nice :)

They have renovated since the last time I was here and I love the updates. The location is perfect, a couple blocks from the beach and a short walk to town. This visit we stayed in the Hawthorn king-size room. The room had a Jacuzzi bathroom, a comfortable king size bed and a large balcony. Every space throughout the inn is well appointed and clean. Kevin, the innkeeper, is warm and engaging. He sees to your every need and we looked forward to seeing him every day. The breakfasts provided every morning in the dining room are delicious and beautifully presented. Coffee or tea is available anytime of the day in a little room off the dining area. The inn is secured with a keypad on the front door so only the guests have access, and there's plenty of parking on site as well. I highly recommend Inn at the Park.

Though old and rustic these cottages are charming and provide comfort for the duration of our stay. Tubing, skiing and boating are some favorite activities for everyone. Coloma provides great restaurants, shops, and even a very affordable movie theater. Paw paw lake is a clean, good size lake for all water sports alike and perfect for relaxing boat rides. The view of the stars from the fire is magnificent. The owner is sweet and accommodating for all. For our annual two week stay, there is no place we would rather be.
