I booked and prepaid this hotel months in advance for a family trip. Just hours before check-in, Saturday of Labor Day weekend, the hotel informed me that they had overbooked and would not honor my reservation. Instead of arranging a comparable room at another property, I was forced to find my own. This left me scrambling last minute with my family to secure alternate accommodations and absorb the costs myself. Being a holiday weekend, few rooms were available by that time, and everything available was more expensive. Communication was unprofessional and dismissive, and in dealing with the hotel's GM Tomas since the incident, it's clear that this property is poorly managed. Checking in was an unnecessary headache. I found the hostess to be sort of terse and short on the hospitality and then she became moody when I asked about the holds. God forbid, anybody ask a question, like how much or how long. Housekeeping's going to need some help and that's all I'm going to say about that. Shouldn't be stains on the furniture or walls; really had me second-guessing how good a job they were doing disinfecting the room between guests. Disgusting. I know pet cats screw, that the Pope wears underwear underwear I hope, and some girls bite but I don't want to see it! ... those aren't exactly my words but you get the idea. I could never get cable to work for the duration I was there. Wi-Fi was up and down and I had difficulty connecting it to several of my devices for some reason I could never figure out. Even my own AT&T Wi-Fi on my cell phone wasn't very good here. ... but plenty of hot water. Rattling A/C. And that's the rub with newer construction, this one's pretty new, thin walls. I stayed here with my family in the summer and I loved the updated look and cleanliness of the lobby and interior. It's also conveniently located near shopping like Walmart and Meijer. Unfortunately I was not pleased with the explanation given to me about these giant red stains near one of the beds in my room. I asked the front desk about this, and they said that it happened when they renovated the hotel. They thought it was something kind of cleaning solution that they're weren't able to get it. I don't know what kind of cleaning solution leaves giant red stains in the carpet, but I wasn't happy with this. Everything else was very pleasant, but why on earth would you think this is acceptable? read more

I needed a place on very short notice for one night. The front desk manager was great, she not only found a room but also gave me a better rate than I could originally find. Her name is Desiree (apologize if I misspelled her name). The room was large and clean. The bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean as well. The hotel has a nice gym and the breakfast area is clean and large. I didn't use the pool, however it looked like the kids were having a lot of fun. My only complaint is there are not a lot of dinning options real close by; there is an Applebees about 3/4 mile away. I know it's not the hotel's fault for lack of dining options. I recommend this hotel and if passing through in the future I will stay here. read more

Horrible service.. kitchen staff screaming at guests about breakfast service being over. Cheap building. You can hear the guests above you walking. This is more like the SpringHill Motel. I don't even think that they run criminal background checks on their employees. One of their employees posted threatening messages about a paying guest and is still employed. Definitely not a safe family environment. The staff here is HORRIBLE. The Manager never comes out of the office to handle any issues. She sits behind the wall while the front desk staff puts out fires. The room was literally falling apart. AND after we complained, they told us that we could not extend our reservation. Our room was never cleaned the entire six days we were there. We had to request our own new towels and sheets. HARD FAIL. read more

We stayed here for two nights Memorial Weekend. The hotel seems to be fairly new but has a lot of maintenance issues. See pictures Besides the stains on couch and drapes there were stains on the bed spreads, the mini fridge was filthy. The barn style bathroom door did not have a handle in the bathroom to pull open and there's no lock on the door. Housekeeping only comes if you ask for it? Why would you have to ask for a clean room. There were no towels in the room when we checked in so the front desk had to bring us some. But on the second day we asked for more bath towels and they said someone would bring them up but never did. With all of the hotels to choose from on this street I would try one of these in the future. read more

Great hotel, clean, really nice staff as well. I was here the end of July for a weekend getaway to site see St. Joseph and South Haven and some other some towns in Michigan but mostly for the beaches. Plenty of parking and nearby shopping and groceries such as: Walmart, McDonalds, and Best Buy. The hotel is sleek, updated, and modern. We had a king size bed and trundle bed (the pull out mattress was comfy, but sleeping on the couch was not so much). The breakfast the first day Thursday was excellent; they had Chobani Greek yogurt, spinach, shredded cheese, and bacon. But when Friday-Sunday rolled around the breakfast lacked luster no Greek yogurt or bacon. Oh man. The didn't get a chance to use the pool which is open till 11pm and the gym open 24 hrs. I rarely saw anyone using the pool or gym. They also have a really nice outdoor patio area and fire pit. read more

Very average hotel for a Marriott. Nothing outstanding nor terrible. The hotel was busy with rude wedding guests at the time who were at many times loud and noisy, and they all hogged the breakfast buffet at the same time, so there wasn't much food left. That is no fault of the hotel but just an observation. read more

My hubby and I spent 4 days and 3 nights celebrating our anniversary. After searching tons of hotels, we decided to stay at SpringHill Suites in Benton Harbor. The hotel had a high rating and was reasonably priced. The hotel is only 3 years old and is very modern and chic. Our king suite hotel room was just as we were expecting. Very roomy and modern. Had an upscale vibe (without the upscale price tag). One of the areas I liked in the room was desk area. Although it was near the bed, it had a sliding glass window that could be closed as to not bother someone still in bed. Came in handing when I had some work to do! Our view was very meh, as it just looked over an industrial office area. Although we didn't use it, there was a nice exercise facility that was 24 hours and a pool. The hotel provided a buffet-style breakfast which was just okay. I've had worse (and better). There wasn't as large of selection of foods as I would've hoped for, and the scrambled eggs and sausage were both sitting in water. One of my favorite features was the outdoor seating area and glass fire pit. My husband and I enjoyed sitting outside at the fire pit. There were only a couple of negatives for me : * the area near the hotel was a bit run down. There was an old abandoned mall and the area itself wasn't as fancy-looking as the hotel. It looks like it was a happening area at one point in time. (There were several chain eateries nearby although many of them had poor reviews, a Meijer and Walmart and some shopping) * the couple of times I went to the front desk (including the time we arrived), we had to wait for staff as they were nowhere to be found. With that being said, the staff was friendly and helpful All in all, this is a nice hotel and we would stay here again. It was comfortable and clean, and best of all, about a 10 minute drive to Lake Michigan. read more

LOVED this hotel! Just got back from a 2 night stay and we were so impressed with this hotel. It looks brand spanking new near many stores and places to eat, and about 15 minutes from silver beach! Tons of free parking, free WiFi, pool and gym and a free continental breakfast on the weekends. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Mini fridge, desk area and a couch big enough for another person to sleep on, all in the room. The only negative I noticed is there was no recycling bins in the room or outside the hotel. This is very much needed in every hotel and should be added. The service was also excellent especially with those running the breakfast in the mornings-so friendly and helpful, always keeping an eye on what was running low. We loved this hotel and will be staying here again if I am in the area! read more

Our room was spacious and we enjoyed having the fridge and microwave. The bathroom was nice as well. However, I definitely would have liked to see it more clean. There were smudges, handprints, and stains. The bedding looked wrinkly and old. Given the pandemic, having to travel right now isn't ideal, and this made me question their attention to sanitation during this time. We also saw the housekeeper working without a mask on which is troublesome for obvious reasons. The front desk staff was nice. The breakfast is *very* mediocre now due to COVID and the pool and fitness center are closed - this is out of their control. We stayed two nights in a king suite recently. The hotel is new and very nice. The interior design is bright and welcoming. We arrived to a clean, comfortable room with a very nice sitting area. They have ample outlets and USB charging ports at your fingertips. These modern amenities are so nice! There's a metal framed desk with sliding glass doors to separate the sitting room from the bed. This was so noisy! The glass rattled if you set anything on the desk. My husband accidentally bumped it with a bag and I thought it was going to come crashing down. The bathroom is pretty small, but the walk in shower was spacious and the fixtures were nice. It's not super private as the pocket door is frosted glass and it doesn't lock. Not an issue when bunking with my husband, but I've stayed in hotels with co-workers or friends. Also annoying that you can't avoid the bathroom light from shining into the bedroom. We requested extra towels and pillows when our room was cleaned. After coming back to the room, the bed had not been made and the bathroom had not been cleaned, so we assumed we were missed or forgotten. It wasn't a huge deal until the next day, I realized one trash can had been emptied and the one from the bathroom was missing completely. So, someone had been in our room, but they didn't perform the basic housekeeping duties. We did not have the breakfast, but it smelled good every morning. I would stay here again, if in the area. read more

This was a helpful way-station for me on a recent trip back to SE Michigan from Wisconsin. Unfortunately my schedule meant that I was at the hotel for not much more than a place to sleep, but it felt welcoming and was a very clean environment as befitting the modern SpringHill standard that I have observed in other locations. The air conditioner unit served as my alarm clock, which wasn't quite what I was intending, and it would have been helpful if there was a clearer notice on how to turn it on or off. General layout of the first floor room was spacious and comfortable, with a separate area for lounging and desk space that I would have used if I'd had more time to stay. read more

Stayed for 1 night and we really liked everything we saw, and were grateful for their free breakfast even with COVID! they had cereal, bagels/muffins, hot coffee and tea, toasters available, and yogurt cups. The bathrooms were weirdly spaced out so you couldn't open the shower door without hitting your hip on the countertop as you walked in. The AC units were also VERY loud, and turned on every 10-15 minutes in the night. The walls were thin and we could hear every door creak and every noise the neighbors made. read more

Okay okay I'm not picky and I'm not queasy so don't get me wrong about what I'm trying to say here. I don't hate this hotel but I just have one serious complaint. The milk that I got from the breakfast bar refrigerator was very spoiled! It came out of the milk carton like clumpy yogurt. I'm hoping that the staff are regularly checking the fridge for expiration dates and whatnot. I can recover from this but I would definitely not want to see it happen again to me or to anyone else. We had a 2 night stay from Saturday to Monday. The room was perfect for having a young child with us because there was a desk with a partition so we were able to put the pack and play on the other side of that so the baby could fall asleep easily (he will NOT go to sleep if he can see us). The room was nice and very clean. I really have no complains as far as the room, cleanliness, overall niceness or f the hotel. The reason I gave only 4 stars is because 1. The doors slam SO LOUD, so every time someone goes in or out of their room anywhere down the hall or probably even the floor above us, it's extremely loud in your room too. And 2. Which is not really the fault of the hotel, but it was apparently a really busy weekend with lots of kids so there was tons of stomping from the floor above and screaming children in the rooms next to us. Thank god my son is a deep sleeper because there were multiple times I thought to myself 'how the heck is he sleeping through all this noise!?' Breakfast was nothing to write home about but hey it's free breakfast. The room had a fridge and microwave which was nice. WiFi wasn't great but no big deal for us. read more

If I could give a negative rating , I would! I spend many nights in hotels so have seen worse but being a Marriott, my expectations are higher than for a low end chain. Sad to say but SpringHill in St Joe is not one I suggest staying at as cleanliness is not a strong point! Other Yelp reviewers have mentioned issues about location, lack of food options, loud AC, dumb layout, opaque bathroom door, etc. but our disappointment was with cleanliness starting with soap scum left on the sink handle and mirror, poo on the toilet sidewall, long pieces of hair and foil left pushed into the bathroom corner, empty box of tissue, mold in the shower, leaking glass door during shower left at least a cup of water on the floor, dust on shelves, face grease on the phone, and a tooth whitening strip on the room carpeting! We planned on several days at SpringHill to visit the area but we checked out after one night and checked into the Hampton Inn down the street! read more

We stayed here for 2 nights on my bachelorette weekend. The hotel is nice and modern, clean and comfy. They offer FREE Chupa Chups too... ever had one of those? They are literally the best sucker ever! It was a random, nice surprise. They also offer a free breakfast which was decent- a few kinds of muffins/breads, cereal, yogurt, waffles scrambled eggs and some toppings to go with it, and good coffee in a 12oz cup that you can take to go. The eggs I thought tasted weird, and when I went to get some, all the yummy toppings were gone. They didn't get refilled for at least 5 minutes either. We were staying 4 people to a room and that was more than adequate with the size of the bathroom, the closet and the additional couch too. The offer Free Wifi as well. Very nice hotel that is in a convenient, yet somewhat secluded location. Rooms are super clean and modern. I will reiterate that the door to the bathroom is somewhat of a design flaw, as it does not close all the way. The shower door also leaked in our bathroom, causing a large pool of water to form on the bathroom floor during a shower. Breakfast was good, but somewhat chaotic with vacationing families scrambling to get their food. The pool area is small, but nice. There are plenty of spaces in the lobby to lounge, as well as a fire pit and chairs outside. Staff was extremely friendly. I would definitely stay here again. read more

Super nice new hotel. Our King suite was clean and comfortable and perfect for the 1 night stay. I really appreciated that there were several places to charge our electronics on the nightstand and desk. The bed was relatively comfortable and we slept well. The bathrooms are nice but the shower leaks all over the floor. The sliding bathroom door looks cool but doesn't slide very easily. The door gets caught up on the carpet. The free breakfast was pretty good but if you don't want to deal with families and kids touching everything then go early! The staff was friendly at check in and check out. read more

They hold your money immediately at check in and still five days later have not received my overcharge. New hotel that's modern, beautifully decorated and clean. I stayed in a king suite and the room was very spacious with microwave, fridge, couch, desk space, and rotating TV where you can watch Netflix, Hulu and other apps. The staff was super friendly and gave us a listing of restaurants nearby and ones they recommended. They were always available for whatever our needs were and offered hot cocoa and coffee when we were playing games in the lobby seating area. The breakfast in the morning was the basic continental breakfast. We got their a little late in the morning and the food was still very warm and good. There is a waffle maker, toaster, several cereal options and a whole oatmeal bar. The warm food was bacon and scrambled eggs with a many varieties on how to decorate the eggs. read more

For someone who travels a lot, over 800 nights in hotels in my life, its always a pleasure to run into nice, courteous people who man these way stations in our travels. I've stayed there twice now on long drives from Troy, MI to the Chicago suburbs after working all day. Between Rachel, who checked me in and Brittany the assistant manager who answered a couple of questions I had, it was an great overall experience. Cheerful, courteous and the willingness to listen to a guest; and trust me, those traits are in the minority now at most Marriott properties, is the reason I will stay here every time I need a way station between my destinations. read more

The hotel is beautiful and rooms are clean! Located in a nice, clean location. Staff is polite and helpful. I give this place 3 stars because the queen beds are in fact full size. The "breakfast buffet" is not buffet. They hold the breakfast from 630/930 and once an item runs out, it isn't replenished. So first come first served, which sucks for people who don't make it down at the butt crack of dawn. Parking is good and pool is small but usually unoccupied. A new modern hotel in a little side street with three other chain hotels that look to all be a year or so old. I've stayed in dozens, if not hundreds of hotels for work and there were a few things that I found unique here, the most notable was the spaciousness of the room. A walk in closet, huge bathroom, and wide open areas make the room feel large. Typically rooms this size would have less open space and a kitchenette. Not here, just the microwave, coffee, and fridge. The room contained two queen beds and a trundle bed, you could very comfortably sleep 6 without resorting to air mattresses or sleeping bags. The breakfast was better than most with fresh looking fruit and a deli meat and cheese spread in addition to the usual fare. Also, my favorite two room features: quiet and dark. SpringHill Suites has made a good first impression on me, I've stayed in far inferior accommodations for considerably more money. read more

We are staying a week and really love the hotel. It is new and clean. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast is fantastic. It has a business center and washer and dryer on site. Negatives are the barndoor to the bathroom does not close completely and the air vents blow on the beds. One thing that is unacceptable is today we were gone for the whole day and came back to find our door not locked and trash in bathroom not emptied and all towels not replenished and coffee not restocked. This was only one day as other days the housekeeping has been great but the fact the door was open is a concern. I definitely would recommend this hotel and I think this was only a one day lapse. read more
