Name is misleading. Much more than a Bakery I've known about the physical location for this place for a number of years but never went because it was called a Bakery. I was looking for much more than a Bakery. I was going to try out another restaurant down the street but when I got there, they were closed for employee training. Turns out they were closed for good. Walked a short distance down and noted that the name of the place is actually Columbia Bakery and Restaurant. Different story. Walked in and was pleasantly surprised. Very little Bakery and very much full service restaurant. Super friendly and very helpful personnel. Looked over the menu which like many oriental restaurants, is posted overhead with a photo of the dish. After much consideration, I ordered the Bistec de Carne over rice and for an option, I had the Fried Plantains. This is a steak covered with Salsa served over rice with essentially a salad on the side. Was a bit surprised when it came out. Was expecting a Salsa much like you get in a Mexican Restaurant but this Salsa was mild and sweet and based on tropical fruits. Excellent contrast to the meat and while I am not normally a fan of rice, even it was good. They have a good selection of beverages both domestic and Columbian. While the one I chose was Columbian and while I suspect Kola is a brand name and not a flavor, the pink creation was delicious though a bit on the sweet side. Nice atmosphere with great food and I will be back. This is a true hidden gem in Statesville right down from Mitchell College.

I've made this a routine stop when I visit Statesville. Food is always great and the staff is nice.

Chicken empanadas, the cheese bread and some random bakery items, so many to pick from to try. I high recommend this place for some homemade Columbian food and bakery goods! Definitely worth the drive about an hour and 10 mins from kernersville. Please check them out, service was fast and ladies were very friendly. They made me some fresh pineapple juice. I enjoyed a delightful bowl of their sancocho which is a really tasty Latin American stew. The stew was paired with rice, tostones, and a small side salad. Everything was SO good. I really enjoyed this meal! You should check this place out! They also have a bakery with loads of delicious looking treats but I was too full from my delicious lunch to try them but next time!!

It was the end of the festival and we were lucky enough to snag one of the last available pulled pork arepas, fried yuca and sweet plantains. The girl taking our order, Maya, was so friendly and personable. Our food was ready quickly and came out piping hot and fresh. The fried yuca was crispy with a drizzle of delicious green sauce. The sweet plantains were fried to the point where the exterior of the plantain was just caramelized enough, but the star of the show was the pulled pork arepa. Imagine a pulled pork sandwich with crispy arepas as your bun topped with jalapeño coleslaw and pickled onions. The flavors of the toppings combined with the juicy pulled pork is top tier.
