What in the holy guacamole is this disaster? I've eaten here before, and while it never knocked my socks off, it was at least passable. But today's order? This was the final nail in the coffin. I'm done. Let's start with the so-called fish tacos. What showed up on my plate looked like it came straight from a frozen food aisle--breaded fish sticks, no seasoning, no freshness, no effort. Just thaw, fry, and hope nobody notices. Spoiler: I noticed. The guacamole? Shelf-stable sadness. It had that lifeless, pre-packaged taste you get from something sealed in plastic and designed to survive a nuclear winter. And those taco shells? Straight from a bag of the cheapest Mission shells money can buy. Honestly, I'd bet nothing on that plate was made fresh--just cans and boxed mixes dressed up as a meal. Carne Asada was dry and . beans came straight from a can. All I can complement is the onions and the corn tortillas taste good. They took 30 minutes to come out with the food (it was empty inside, not busy at all) no utensils extremely let down. read more

Not a fan of this place. First off, they share parking with other businesses so parking is easy. Building is easy to find, good location because this is a good area. The food is kinda bland. I got the shrimp and octopus with rice and guacamole salad. It was plain like it wasn't cook into any sauce. My bf had the acp and he said it was salty so not a good look for the second time we've been. The service is decent. They are pretty nice. Ambiance is pretty dark inside. I had been wanting to try this place for 7. 3 months and I finally got there with my son. It wasn't a great start because they sat us at was probably the worst table of the three rooms--your legs are crunched regardless of which side you sit on. Also, the waiter was good but he seemed very rushed. Efficient but not too personable. The big draft and icy cold beer in a big mug was amazing! I really enjoyed that. The fajitas were also superb. For some reason, they only brought two tortillas. Maybe that's standard but I thought maybe three tortillas. Only mentioning this because the food was much more enjoyable when in a tortilla. Maybe that's because it wasn't as hot by the time I got to the food on the plate. My son said the chicken was dry. I didn't find that to be the case but he would know better because my food was piping hot. I think that makes sense. If it doesn't, we're going to pretend it makes sense. Prices were fair, which is tough to find at the moment. I think this comes down to really good food but being somewhat underwhelmed by the vibe. Maybe it was a timing thing. Which, on the menu said $9.99, but in reality ended up being $10.75 before tax. Somehow. Our waiter seemed nice, but who knows, he spoke a solid 10 words to our party of 6 the entire time. I will say, the margaritas were big! Not quite fishbowl size, but nice cereal bowl size! All of the dishes were fairly good sizes, but were not necessarily worth the cost. I also thought the rice was dry and flavorless and the salsa too watery. And, this is a small thing, but of the 6 people at our table, only 2 were given water. The lunch menu is a solid Mexican lunch menu with good size servings and good prices. The ambiance was good, music was a little loud but we didn't mind as we had kids with us and they themselves tend to be a little loud. We got there at 12 and it was the perfect time to get there. My mom comes here almost every week, so when we were visiting - we just had to stop by. They sat us in the very back next to the kitchen doors. I thought it was over and we'd get nailed. Nope, the wait staff were attentive and didn't body slam us at our table each way. We started with the chips and queso. The small cheese dip served six of us very well. Plenty for 3 adults and 3 teenagers. I ordered the shrimp tacos with corn tortillas and it was very good. Fantastic tortilla taste, unique flavor, very nice shrimp. There were only a few in there and they weren't evenly distributed, but with a little rearranging, we were good. The rice and beans came on another plate. They were right in the fairway. Generally, I agree with my mother: definitely a place to come with the family. Pro-tip: Do NOT come with a party of six. They put six chairs at tables for four. First time here! It was great. We came for lunch. We were seated right away. Server was attentive and fast. Queso dip was tasty. My friend had a big burrito which she loved. Love the acp which is chicken with rice and cheese sauce and if in a hurry the speedy Gonzalez which is one taco, one enchilada with beans or rice. Ate here with a group of about 18 people, the staff was friendly and accommodating and took good care of everyone. Drink orders were taken right away and fulfilled in a reasonable amount of time. We got cheese dip to go with the chips and it's very good, I definitely recommend it! The restaurant was clean and the bathroom was too. I had the acp (arroz con Pollo) it was excellent... Most places have peppers in this dish, but they don't, however adding it in was no problem. The food orders came out quickly and everything was correct. I'm not aware of any billing issues either, so it seems they had everything right the first time. It's a bit of drive from where I live, but when I'm in the area, I'll definitely be back. read more

Best Mexican Restaurant in Mooresville. Went here with the owner of our company a couple of weeks ago for lunch. Normally I'm here in the evening so this was a first for lunch. Restaurant is nice and clean and wait staff is excellent. We were seated immediately, beverage orders taken and the perfunctory chips and salsa presented. Looked over the menu and since I had had a rather heavy breakfast, I opted for just the Lunch Special #6 which is two tacos (in my case beef) with choice of rice of beans. I opted for the beans. My coworker ordered the Tacos de Asada (steak) with rice for his. While we waited, we nevertheless, enjoyed the chips and salsa. Salsa was excellent with a nice fresh taste and the proper amount of heat and a note of citrus to it. Chips were nice and fresh and not the least oily. Our lunch arrived and portions are more than ample. My two tacos and beans were very filling and I meant to eat light. The tacos de asada were three soft tacos, packed with as much steak as they could get into them My coworker could not eat all that they brought and that is rare. I eat here at least 3 times a month. Tonight, my daughter had a bug enter her mouth directly from her drink. There was most likely a bug in the ice. As a result, she received a free quesadilla and drink for dinner despite this ruining the entire dinner for everyone at the table. I offered to pay half the ticket but apparently everyone else's experience wasn't taken into consideration. Whom ever he called obviously didn't think I made a fair offer. Whoa. Who knew Mooresvillians love Mexican food so much!? I had been here years ago, when it was just one suite, but I now see they have expanded into the adjacent space. Apparently, it was much needed! I had lunch here with the BFF on a regular Tuesday, close to noon. But 12:30, the place was packed! I live for chips & salsa. Their chips were perfectly crisp & the salsa was delicious. I'm a big fan of the "thin & watery" type salsa & this did not disappoint. I had the ground beef nachos. While the nachos were great, the sour cream seemed to have "melted" thus making a watery goop at the bottom of the plate. Not great. It made the bottom layer of chips very soggy. However, the rest of the nachos were tasty! Our waitress was pretty good, checked on us a good amount & wasn't overbearing. Parking can be tricky, as it shares space with a busy shopping center. The service was very friendly and attentive. The place was bustling and surprisingly large. The food came very very quickly and was good rather than great. The lunch menu was very large with many offerings but very disorganized and despite the many many listings I couldn't find what I wanted. I wanted three beef tacos with rice and beans with some guacamole for the chips. The closest thing I could find was two tacos and either rice or beans. I didn't see a place to order the guacamole. This my favorite Mexican restaurant. Every other "Mexican" restaurant fails to compare to this humble place -- it's truly made me into a Mexican food snob (just ask my friends). Upon entering, the hosts give you a warm welcome and promptly seat you at a table or booth. If you can choose, go for a booth (they fit about six people snugly). After sitting, endless fresh, hot chips are delivered with their addicting salsa (and they always give my family two bowls with two salsa dispensers, and three dipping bowls). I kick myself for not asking for the recipe or if I can purchase it -- it's THAT good! I'm salivating just thinking about it... The servers here always go the extra mile -- with their friendly personalities, fast service, large dishes, and unbeatable prices! If you ever look around while you're waiting/eating, you'll notice that most customers are regulars -- as they talk and joke with the owner and servers who circulate around the room. It's like everyone is family. I love how they've expanded the place (the room to the right, by the bar, is new) -- especially since it's always hoppin' on the weekends! As I've said before, I'm in love with the vibrant paintings on their wall -- they really echo the essence of Mexico and are quite wonderful to tipsily gaze into. As for the food, my family's typical order of steak chimichungas took an interesting twist towards the Pelusa Texana. Yes, five of us all ordered the same dish, and the blame can be placed on me for hyping it up. However, my sister diverted from the class decision, and opted for the chicken fajitas. Such a rebel! Our food returned quickly, piping hot! My sister's fajita skillet was still sizzling. :) Our plates were all filled to the brim with rice, grilled green peppers and onions, steak, chicken, and shrimp -- topped with a heaping of cheese. With each order, we all got foil-wrapped, warm tortillas. After everyone attempted to stuff themselves completely, we all ended up having to acquire "to-go boxes" (for our next day's lunch). Fortunately, it happened to be celebrating one of my brother's birthdays, so my mom snuck off to to inform the waiters in Spanish. Five minutes later, a parade of waiters swarmed our table -- affixing an enormous, colorful sombrero to my brother's head. They placed a dessert -- fried, crispy *something* with drizzled syrup and whipped cream -- in front of him (I should ask the official name of this dish, but I always forget to). Then, they proceeded to serenade him in a Spanish "happy birthday" song -- whistling, clapping, and lightly nudging the sombrero -- all while my brother grinned wildly in happy embarrassment. Gotta love embarrassing your siblings! :) I've failed to find another restaurant where I truly feel at home and always happy leaving, but I guess that's what so special about El Cerro Reyes. Typical Mexican. Willing to accommodate. A couple of black bean tacos with a side of lettuce and tomato makes a great cheap vegan dinner! Or, if I'm really hungry, I go for the vegetable fajitas! Just make sure to check on the rice - usually made with butter. Would encourage them to switch from styrofoam to a more sustainable take out container though - like cardboard. Or, even better, bring your own container if you're thinking you'll take home leftovers! Styrofoam never biodegrade and other states are outlawing it so let's stop using it! read more

Just had dinner here and the food was good, but the service was pitiful. I actually had to stand up and yell (What the Hell?) after waiting for over an hour for the pitiful waiter to take our order. The table next to us came in 15 or 20 minutes after we did and ordered, ate their meal, and left before we even ordered!! The waiter was rude and we couldn't even understand what he was saying as he flew by our table several times. Bet he got the message when he looked at his tip (or the lack of it). Never again!!! after seeing these great reviews I was stoked to have a good margarita, good food and good service. I was disappointed to say the least. Let me start with my server- he offered no straw, no water, I did get a menu, so I should probably shut up. The margarita arrives, nothing better to quit bitching already, except, I don't think there's tequila in it! Soooooo, I fix it myself by ordering a shot after I told my waiter that the margarita is not very good. He didn't care. I ordered the 4 enchilada plate and could hardly taste anything besides lettuce piled on top. There was no flavor to any of them. I've been coming here since we moved here so that's been about 19 years. Best Mexican restaurant hands down. When I say they are fast they are FAST. The food is so so so good and tasty and it's the only Mexican food that doesn't make me feel sick and heavy. Lol. Some of the employees have been here just as long and are so nice and welcoming.
