I visited them on July 18th and had the worse experience! They had one table that was paying to leave and us, a party of 5 adults and a child. They took around 10 minutes for someone to come serve us, i had to tell a guy standing around the kitchen to help us and he got the server. The server who goes by Beba was not friendly and was a bit confrontational when we asked for things. She brought food out without side dishes, wait for refills and she did not clean the table at all. She was even talking back to us when we asked for our missing items. She then sat to her back to us to do side jobs or gossip not even sure! When we got the bill i noticed she put the service fee on the account, i have no problem with paying tip especially when you deserve it but she didn't deserve not even a 5% due to lack of service, rude attitude and not being able to manage bringing food out correctly, she probably served us like this since she had nothing to lose! The food was flavorless, the rice was old and the mofongo was dry possible pre-made. I didnt eat any of my food and they didnt even ask why all our plates were basically not touched but our bill was $200 with the added tip! I am actually from Puerto Rico and this was nothing close to the hospitality or flavor i was expecting! Prices are high also $6 for rice and $6 for beans makes no sense! I think this was the best PR restaurant I ever been in. The food, services and setting was the best. The total was about $50 and the portions they give could feed a whole family. It was my bf and I eating and we couldn't finish the food so we had to take it home. The setting was so creative (art displayed) and clean. Our waitress was very attentive. Went to F&T and was somewhat underwhelmed. One thing that was undeniably delicious and flavorful was the pasteles de guineo. Hands down one of the best I've ever had. The rice's flavor was pretty good too considering it wasn't the typical short grain PR rice. This was the reason for my 3 stars. The pernil on the other hand was subpar. The cuerito was soft and the pork was dry and stringy. I was looking forward to this..smh. The alcapurrias de yucca were good according to my foodie mates. The empanadas/pastelillos were not fresh and although the dough seemed homemade, it was cold and hard. Everything else was just ok. On a positive note, the staff was very nice and accommodating but appeared overwhelmed. The baked chicken is outstanding. It's moist, delicious and packed full of flavor. The rice and beans is good and the potato ball with meat is good as well. Service was quick and the lady behind the counter was patient and very polite which is good because the entire menu is in Spanish. I've only gotten takeout and the ordering area is kind of small and I can see it getting crowded fast. We had enough food for 7 people and made another meal for four with the leftovers for about $75 The whole roasted chicken had a nicely browned skin, was juicy and flavorful. The pork was amazing! So flavorful and moist with both white and dark meat. The flavor is sooo good! The yellow rice and beans were yummy. The meal also came with tostones. We added 12 chicken pastilles too. We reheated both because they were a little soggy from time traveling. They reheated nicely. They got a little crispy without drying out. First time eating authentic Puerto Rican food since moving to Philly and it did the trick. I ordered for a group of 6 and we got Enough food to feed like 10. I am grateful that they were able to take such a big order about 30 mins before closing but they took care of me. The food was very good, the people in there were nice and were up front about things that they were out of stock since it was so late. I have been eating excellent Puerto Rican food since before I knew it was Puerto Rican food! So working so close to Freddy & Tony's I had a TON of people recommend them, including my hubby who grew up eating here. We came on a Sunday when there was a line nearly out the door, but thankfully we were able to score a table on the air conditioned side of the the restaurant (go all the way back). Also be aware that parking stinks in the area. I always go with the classics, so we ordered Pernil (roast pork), arroz con ganules (rice with pigeon peas), maduros (sweet plantains) and mofongo (mashed up green plantains). The rice was excellent and HUGE portion, actually all the portions were generous and inexpensive. The pork was EXTREMELY dry. The skin was not crunchy, nor soft, just rubbery. The mofongo is some of the worst I have ever had, extremely dry, no garlic sauce, and just no love. My husband also ordered a tamarind juice, which came out in a Goya can! There was no mention that the juices were canned, maybe it's just because most of the Spanish restaurants I've eaten at make their own juices fresh, I found this to be completely odd. Also, I didn't look at the price, but that should've tipped me off since it was like $1.50 and not $3 like fresh juices at other places. Our waitress was also not attentive at all, and I guess we came during a break time because a group of about 5 other waitresses were just hangning out chatting in the back while many people waited for service. Overall, I was not impressed with the place, I don't think I would return especially with so many other options that are just as affordable and nearby. Visited Philly this weekend and was really feeling some Rice and beans. After extensive search finally I was able to find this restaurant. Mind you I am very leery about Puerto Rican food because most of them can't live up to what you get at home; I decided to give this a shot. The food was very good. It was very difficult to find street parking but it was easy to see why, there was a steady supply of customers coming in to get takeout and to sit in. We were lucky to be able to get a table when we arrived. The food was really good and tasty. I ordered the white rice & beans with carne frita and tostones. My girlfriend had the mofongo. We both loved our meals. Not only was the food extremely good but the prices were ridiculously good. The value plus the taste makes this restaurant a must. For those who are afraid of the "hood" you may want to opt for delivery as this is a bit of a rough neighborhood but idc nothings gonna hold me back from good cuisine. So I will give pros and cons to make this quick & easy if a review Pros: extensive menu, really good food, really cheap prices, large portions (lasted me three meals). Cons: street parking (which can be a hassle to find a spot during certain times of the day), cash only (most of the time, I still don't know what the deal is with that), a bit of a language barrier but for the most part of always had someone who was able to help me. It's your local "hood" spot. I'm not looking for a 5 star fancy experience when coming here but it definitely is comfortable feels family oriented and authentic and just does the trick for me. I tried this restaurant as part of an impromptu work luncheon. I'm not familiar with the neighborhood but felt very welcomed. The server explained the menu and made appropriate suggestions for our group. Everything was delicious. We did family style. Everyone loved the whole chicken, pork, rice and peas, plaintains!!! Worked up the street from here one Tuesday afternoon! What an amazing spot! I love how much the Puertorican Culture is present- this place is super legit. I have many boriqua friends and even they love this spot. It's where the puertoricans go to eat puertorican - that's a good indication of legitimacy. I split the pernil (pork) and the arroz con habichuelas (rice and beans) and the plátanos maduros (sweet plantains). We also ordered one alcapurria guineo (like a cheese steak egg roll Puerto Rican style with fried savory banana as the dough). Service was friendly and respectful. And the prices are really fair. This place is super busy and there's a good reason why - the food is authentic and delicious! The menu is extensive and you absolutely must get the rice and beans (yellow rice). We also got an order of tostones and they did not disappoint. The cubano sandwich was outstanding - the amount of pork on this thing is ridiculous. My husband got the mofongo which was good, but not as good as his dad's. The staff was friendly and yes, they speak Spanish, but also English. Today I placed an order for delivery. I ordered a couple of accapurias and a whole baked chicken. I could not believe my eyes, the accapurias were hard, burnt and dried. And the chicken, also was hard, burnt and dried. I can't believe they actually sent me old, burnt, hard and dried out food. That shouldn't be allowed. I can't believe it took me almost eight months of living in the area to find an authentic Puerto Rican restaurant, but it happened. WEPA!! I came here with two friends (who had never tried real PR food) and we ordered more than we could possibly ever eat, all family-style: Tostones, Pasteles, Arroz con Habichuelas, Bistec Encebollado, Alcapurrias, and Flan! It tasted exactly like the dishes my mother makes regularly. I refused to leave until we had all of the essentials in front of us--and I'm so happy my friends appreciated it all. The price was also ridiculously reasonable as well. Our waitress was a total doll. She was taking care of every table in the restaurant and somehow managed to keep everyone laughing, happy, and FULL. This place was recommended to me by a cook at a retirement home that I was delivering to in Delaware County. He was prepping several whole pigs to roast when I started telling him about how much I enjoy Puerto Rican food and restaurants.. It took me a few weeks to actually stop in Feddy and Tony's, but once I was inside, I knew that I was gonna purchace more than just lunch... The inside is more like an old diner... They have a pretty large menu, and plenty of fresh fruit drinks... I ordered lunch and then ordered several other items to take home to my family.. Gotta take advantage of good food when I run across it since there isn't much variety offered where I live... Just the usual pizza, chinese, and burger places... Came here with a party of 4 and we weren't sure what to order, so we pretty much ordered everything! Mofongo comes with these pieces of pork skin, which makes everything taste even better, but when added with gravy, comes out to perfection. Tostones with garlic was better than without garlic. The beef was pretty bland and nothing special. The pernil (pork) was a little on the saltier side, but complements well with the rice and beans. Now, another thing to note is the PRICE! My gluttonous group definitely over-ordered (ended up feeding all 4 of us almost to the point of death, with enough leftovers for 4 extra meals) and each of us paid $18. Okay, that might sound like a lot, but we also ordered a ~$5 colada drink.
