WORST EYE Ophthalmology SERVICES EVER EXPERIENCED IN LIFE. University Eye Center is located inside the Cornwell Hospital is not mentioned anywhere in Google Maps . I had been specifically referred by my Primary Care Physician as I have diabetic eye. I took appointment of today of 3 pm and my Physician office faxed the referral. I work near downtown Detroit and the clinic is at Sterling Heights. I work full time and have to squeeze in time for health appointments. As no where it has been mentioned that the clinic is inside the Corwell Hospital, I had to drive around the Dequinder Road a number of times despite following GPS. I took leave from work to reach early and called the Doctor office about my appointment time . I somehow reached the Eye Care after a lot of moving around the entire Hospital. I reached by 3:11pm and the receptionist at first declined to acknowledge that a referral has been sent. She stated that she asked the Doctor and he said that I should take another day in most discourteous manner , apparently, making the Patient feel that ' Doctor is doing a favor to me and doing free social service'. I do not want to give anyone an opinion to try to consult this particular University Eye Care Center as Patients are only going to go through an intimidating process of the ' Very High Headed' Office Staff on the receiving desk. I am going find out a better and refined Eye Care Center and now go for Diabetic Eye Exam and Eye Lens test. read more

My first visit yesterday at University Eye Care was with Dr. Mark Rolain. The process was streamlined and very efficient, I felt that my appointment went very well, even though I didn't like my diagnosis, but that's not their fault! LOL! I thought my treatment and the scheduling of my cataract surgery on both eyes went very well! Looking forward to seeing clearly again, I go back in about a week to have my eyes "Measured" before my scheduled surgeries and so far I thought the staff was outstanding, thorough, I left there feeling as though I picked a very reputable eye care clinic for my needs! Patients need to learn to trust in their doctors as the knowledgeable professionals that they are! Extremely happy with the service I received! BRAVO! read more

I never desired to write a review for any doctor before my visits with Dr. Rolain, but he and his staff are so thorough and so competent, and the service and treatment received so flawless, I feel like I must. From my initial appoint so evaluate my cataracts, to the follow-up appointment for measurements, to the actual surgeries and check-ups everything was exemplary. I appreciated the staff's professionalism, especially regarding communication related to the surgery. All information regarding the surgery and aftercare was told to me in person, sent home with me as a hard copy and later sent electronically as a reminder. Dr. Rolain's office is a well-oiled machine but never forgets the individual patient. My surgeries went perfectly, back to 20/20 vision, thanks to the experience and care of Dr. Rolain. read more

Agatha Obertyinski is a no nonsense eye doctor who saved my sanity by setting me up with a plan to aleviate the discomfort caused by my dry eye syndrome. And it worked. She said you have to stick with it, do the work involved and don't give up or it won't work. Now this at home eye therapy is a regular part of my life and soooo much better. I lived with the constant eye infections that made me feel like somebody threw sand in my eyes. Blepharitis I think is the condition I was living with off and on. If you have this you can trust her! My husband came to another Dr. here for eye surgery. Different experience for him. Very overinflated pricing for that. Times are tough. Billing department there says you made your choices live with it and pay up! read more

Stay away!! I wish there was something lower than a 1 star rating. On the other side, if you like to be charged the most for your medial visits than this is your place.... but with high medical cost, it to should come with a high level of quality. Where this place falls short. In my opinion, the staff is rude and undermining. Simple front desk questions cannot be answered unless that have that specific person available. It's almost like when you ask them a question, your bothersome and they don't want to help. If I owned the practice, I would fire them all. Also, I though the doctors were anything but humble. I've been seeing Dr. Obertynski for 2+ years and I think she is very nice! I enjoy seeing her every three months to keep an eye on my glaucoma. As far as the staff goes, they have always been very welcoming! I think all the old reviews regarding the staff should go away because these are not the same people, or they have changed!! read more

I have seen Dr. Rolain and Dr. Dustman, and I have nothing but praise for both. The waiting times are consistently very short/reasonable. Dr. Dustman is masterful with difficult contact lens fittings; I recommend her very highly. read more

I went here due to insurance changes. I was quite nervous about going to a new eye Doctor. I saw Dr. Obertynski for what turned out to be a side effect of cataract surgery. Dr. Obertynski was awesome! She explained everything that was wrong in detail, and then explained how she could fix it. thinking about seeing another dtr. Office failed to mention of a change in coronation of benefits so my refraction wasn't covered as in has been in the past. "Sorry" but a lot of patients have found have the same problem, sorry they didn't informed you when you check in" . Out $50.00 because the my eye insurance company won't pay because medical and refraction was done on the same day. Very unhappy. read more

Don't even bother going there! I scheduled an appointment at 1:30 from what I remembered because they don't even call you to remind you or text or email you!! They expect you to remember your appointment time even if it was booked a month before. Anyway I was outside the office at 1:18 and I get a phone call with the receptionist telling me my appointment is at 1:00pm and I can no longer come in because the doctor is completely booked. Mind you, I drove AN HOUR to get to this office and they legit didn't care didn't accommodate me nothing. I expressed my frustration and she simply said "let me get a manager for you" left me on hold for quite a while so I hung up and never heard back from them. So disappointed with University Eye Care PC! I was told by my family doctor to see an Ophthalmologist for glasses due a retina vision problem I was experiencing. Dr. Rolain was very arrogant. He only spent a couple of minutes with me, and talked to me like I was a nothing / nobody to him! Then I made a huge mistake of purchasing glasses after my exam. I am normally not a person who complains, but went back twice to explain my vision was not clear with the glasses I purchased from University Eye Care. They just adjusted my frames and sent me on my way!! I will never go back there again!! Note: I purchased my previous pair of glasses from Lens Crafters at Lakeside Mall, loved those glasses, and wore them for 5 years. Next time I will go back to Lens Crafters!! read more

Mark Rolain is very good at his job. His bedside manner is lacking though, he's a jerk. He talked down to us and basically made us feel unwelcome. He didn't even help us to figure out what was wrong. We will not be returning. read more

Front desk staff is very confused. Came down from doctor upstairs with referral. Needed exam/test before starting medication. Staff seemed confused why I asked for appointment before starting medication and I explained doctor would like a baseline to compare later. So, I made appointment. Received call day before saying Ashley had questions before my appointment. I called back, they were closed. I called back first thing next morning. They said she would call me. Well, 3pm I'm here for appointment. Asked what questions they had. I was told part of exam I need to come back another day since my appointment is 3pm they can't do it with this appointment. Wow, I took the day off work for this appointment and my husband too. He drove me since my eyes they said will be dilated. Talked with manager of front desk...she was extremely rude!!!! Ashley said she never received my message. But she was very nice and totally professional. Dr Rolain was great. My husband and I thought he explained things and answered our questions about my exam. Unfortunately I have to go back next week for the rest of the test that can only be done in the morning. He needs to evaluate his staff! I wouldn't recommend going here. read more

I feel as if I was taken advantage of, test were completed that I don't feel were necessary with the office knowing insurance wouldn't cover these tests. I found out the hard way with a bill in the mail $$$, I had to call to speak to an office manager about this. They also tried to sell multiple over the counter products to me which was the first time it ever happened, but made me very uncomfortable! No exact cost can be given for contact fitting, just s a range of $85-$120 and you HAVE to buy contacts from them the first time. Something isn't right here, but I know once thing is for certain, I WON'T be back. Called around, fittings for contacts are a set price at other places, $39 at one & $50 at another.....both are way more reasonable. I have to question what is going on here, very disappointed and wanted to warn others to be very careful. Ask before tests are done and why, call around and get prices.....theirs are INSANE and I feel as if they are only out to make money here! Its a shame and I feel for any one who gets taken advantage of. Shame on you University Eye Care! read more
