I called prior to check the rate of the room as I seen online the price was listed at $127 a night and wanted to confirm before I drove 30 minutes out of my way to Dyersville. The price was confirmed. We arrived and my husband went in and paid for the room with my card. The next morning on my way home I looked at my online banking and it stated I was charged $190 for the room. I immediately called the hotel back and asked why the charge was so high and she said that was the rate of my room. After telling her this is not the price I was quoted when I called, she said no one told me that. The manager was supposed to call me that afternoon and never did. It's been 3 weeks now and still no one has called to even address this issue. I have no problem spending $190 on a hotel room. I would NEVER spend $190 on the hotel room I stayed in that evening. The bedding was dirty. I ended up sleeping on the small sofa with my own blanket that evening. The breakfast was junk. The staff obviously is horrible. And I spent way too much money on this crap room. I would never stay or recommend this hotel to anyone.

The room for the half assed breakfast is in no way large enough to accommodate the number of guests being dupped into staying hear. The beds are like "trying" to sleep on a board with noisy tin underneath. Horrible experience.

We booked the massage and dinner package as well as renewed our vows in front of the mansion. I cannot say enough about the amazing experience we had during our time here. Paul was an amazing host! He puts in a lot of details into making the experience one to remember. We have never stayed at a bed-and-breakfast so we were completely surprised by how wonderful and elegant the mansion was. On Thursday when we arrived, we had our scheduled massage, followed by our ceremony, and a private dinner in the dining room. Paul even took some pictures of us and gifted us with a beautiful framed picture of me and my husband. On Friday morning, we met some wonderful guest during our breakfast, and headed out to downtown Galena. Our breakfast was an excellent and tasty homemade breakfast, so much so, that we were so excited about breakfast the next day. Although Paul is basically the face of a mansion, his wife and employee work just as hard to make it an overall beautiful experience. We will definitely be back! We know that we have other options, but we cannot say enough about this place and want to continue to support Paul like he supports and tends to his customers. Paul and family, thank you so very much for making our 10th anniversary as memorable as you did.

The Squiers Manor is an experience. No detail left undone. The proprietors are masters in their field...from the abundance of period pieces furnishing the Manor, to the home-cooked meals, down to the complimentary toiletries; including eye makeup remover wipes. It's in the fine details like these that the love of hospitality shows. Thank you Nathan and Rud.

Recently, I needed to be in Maquoketa, Iowa, for a wedding, and I was glad to learn of the highly reviewed Squiers Manor B&B. With short notice I was able to make a reservation in the Beulah Room, named after one of the Squiers daughter's who grew up and was married in the house, whose father the house was built for. It was a lovely room with a twin bed for our 9 year old daughter, and at a most reasonable price too. The furnishings in our room and all the others we were able to see, were stunning. This may have been the finest B&B I have ever stayed in anywhere in the US and Canada. But not only was the building grand, and furnishings fantastic (Kathy and her husband are antique dealers and have searched high and low for the most amazing furnishings for their B&B), the hospitality was grand too. Kathy accommodated our need to check in a bit before standard check in between 4-8pm, and kindly greeted us and gave us a full tour of the house. If we have any disappointment at all, it was that we could not stay longer, enjoy the evening dessert or partake of the morning breakfast. We have heard it is great. We can't wait to get back to Maquoketa again and visit Squiers Manor again, and we would tell you to make a reservation here if you are passing through or staying for a few days in the area, it is a MAGNIFICENT B&B.
