I was immediately approached by a saleswoman who asked if I was looking for something specific. I told her that I was simply browsing and started to check out one of the jewelry cases. Within seconds, I was approached by another salesperson who said I looked like I needed assistance - I told her not yet, I didn't want any help. Then a third saleswoman walked up to me, despite the fact that she saw me turn the first two ladies away. One of the same women then approached my husband, who tried to ignore her. We looked at each other and walked out of the shop. The salespeople probably work on commission which would explain their aggressive behavior, but high pressure sales tactics are a big turn-off. No wonder the shop was empty.

The staff was extremely helpful and very pleasant. This is fifth generation ownership. You heard me correctly fifth generation. You don't survive five generations without integrity. Unfortunately, the clasp replacement needed to be sent out, which did surprise me as I just assumed there was an on-site jeweler who could do small repairs like that. The set was in need of a cleaning so we added that to the order. Fortunately, the Representative informed me that the jewelry I was bringing in should not be cleaned in one of those ultrasound machines. I am so glad she told me that. I did not ask for an appraisal this time because funds were a little tight but toward the end of the year, I will consider bringing all of our jewelry to them so that we can update our insurance. They went out of their way to accommodate my schedule, which did not allow for me to pick up for several months. They kept in touch, as did I to make sure that my daughter said was well cared for until we could get there. Just a tip for the public;, the price of precious metals has skyrocketed so any Repair may set you back a bit more than you expected. I felt that the price was fair, all things considered. Would I shop at Zimmer Brothers Jewelers in the future? Absolutely! They have an extensive collection of unique jewelry and a reputation that has lasted more than 130 years. This was accomplished with the help of our sales associate, Retno, Bonnie, Mary Ellen and Shanna who came up with the idea for the design. Took it back and after 6 months, I had heard nothing. I finally called because I was afraid they lost it. Turns out they decided they couldn't fix it BUT NEVER TOLD ME. I had to call to get it back. I gave them a small plastic bag of loose parts that I asked them to assess if they were gold. They said they didn't have it FOUR times over several months of me asking. I knew I left it with them but decided not to argue about it because they still had the pocket watches. I also asked them to put me on the list to have a grandmother clock repairs by a guy who did house calls. I asked several time over a YEAR if the guy was coming. After TWO years, have never received a call. Gave up and learned how to fix it myself. After 1.5 years, they call me to pick up the loose parts as if I abandoned them; they ones they said THEY NEVER HAD! I go to pick them up and I'm mad. The sales guy, let's call him Dennis, came over with the parts and started a drippy apology. I didn't want to hear it and said just giver me the bag. He says "relax". For the women reading this, when a man says to "relax", they are being condescending and disrespectful. I told him that in a loud voice. So as I'm leaving he says RELAX again and said you lost my stuff for 1.5 years and held my watch without telling me it couldn't be fixed. If he was a good salesperson, he would have known that I was mad when I brushed off his apology and just given me my stuff and let it go. But no, he decided to act like a petulant 5-year old and try to put me down. He KNEW he was in the wrong but couldn't accept it. What a disappointment. Upon entering the store my friends and I were greeted by an employee that I had never seen before. She gave us a rundown of the store while we were looking around and I politely told her that we had been there before and didn't need to be told where and what things were. That was excusable. However, the experience got stranger. I was looking through a box and found a loose pair of pantyhose that I was thinking about purchasing. The employee entered the other room where my friends and I were Coincidentally, I picked up my bag and the pantyhose and went over to another section at the same time she was entering. In doing that I think I may have set off a shoplifting alarm in her head. Without asking, she picked up the pantyhose next to my bag and told us that she was going to put them up front. I protested because I wasn't sure if I wanted her to do that. She proceeded to tell me in somewhat of a scolding tone that she was going to bring them up front (regardless of my protests) and that they should have been left in their packaging (there was no packaging). After this encounter, she kept her eye on us consistently. I tried on two dresses and she interrupted my conversation to ask me a question about the dress I had on. She also asked loudly if anyone was in the dressing room as I was clearly changing in there. I found this whole experience strange and frankly invasive. I also felt singled out because of some unfounded (and obvious) suspicion. I do enjoy Castaways and I have been a long-time patron. However, I am reluctant to go in the store again because I would not like to have another encounter like the one I had today.
