The shower required a feat of strength to turn on and attempting to change the spray pattern instead unscrewed the showerhead from the spigot. The Wi-Fi was very slow. Only one elevator was working of two and the clock in it was six days slow. It's cheaper than many surrounding properties and there's a reason for that.

The room is hot as you know where. The AC is off in summer. I get a text asking if I need anything. I politely say I ordered a King room, the room was like a sauna and no welcome as diamond. She says sorry the thermostat is on the wall. I again politely let her know I found it but I ordered a king room. She said are sold out. Again I said but I paid for a king. She then in all caps (cut and paste from her text) : " I am SORRY THAT YOU ARE IN A DOUBLE WE ARE CURRENLT SOLD OUT.". I'd avoid this place like the plague.

Every evening when I walked in this week, the front desk staff (especially the woman working nights) greeted me with a warm smile and a genuine hello. It's such a small thing, but it makes a huge difference when you're traveling for work. The breakfast area was also incredibly clean and perfectly stocked each morning, even though I only grabbed a few things here and there. You can tell the staff takes pride in keeping everything fresh and organized. Overall, everything about this hotel exceeded my expectations. It's officially my new go-to spot whenever I'm in town. The overall vibe is still warm and welcoming, just like our past visits. But the attention to detail is starting to slip. On this stay, the elevators had crumbs sitting in the corners, the room had stray hairs in a few random places, and the window seals looked like they had not been dusted in a while. Was the room filthy? No. But if I had to put a number on it, it felt about 70 percent clean and 30 percent needs attention. Because my wife and I have stayed here multiple times, we can definitely tell the standards are easing up a bit. This is the kind of stuff that is easy to fix now, but if it keeps going this way, it gets harder to bring the place back to where it used to be. Will I stay here again? Maybe. It just will not be at the top of my list like it used to be, and not anytime soon. They've got some work to do, and I hope they get on it, because this used to be a really dependable go-to for us.

The price was a little inflated when my group went due to there being many events that weekend, but not as crazy as some of the other nearby hotels. The hotel and our room was very clean upon arrival. The decor, furniture, etc. was pretty old-school. When we reserved, we were under the impression that we'd have a couch in the room but instead got a large space with many different chair options. It worked out fine and we used the space to have friends come over before we went out to our event. We were fairly loud and when we checked to see if the sound would bother our neighbors by going into the hall, you actually couldn't hear much. We got no complaints so I assume it was the same for the walls between the rooms. The bed was comfortable and everything worked fine. Good water pressure in the shower. Mini fridge worked better than most hotel fridges. Lots of places to unpack belongings. Front desk staff was responsive and kind. Parking was complementary and super easy. They had complementary breakfast, but we did not indulge (we slept in!) Just a few cons. The gym and the pool were both closed during our time there. Our room had no full-length mirror, just the regular mirror in the bathroom. Easily resolved by adding a mirror. Also, no closet in our room. Finally, the TV had only very basic channels. I'd recommend adding Netflix or some kind of streaming service - at least the ability to log in with one's own account. The TV seemed pretty old and probably incapable of this.

My room was nice, I was missing soap and in the shower it was just three shampoos, no body wash. The hotel seemed pretty full on a Saturday, so I skipped the pool and all the kids and families. Self park on your left before you reach the hotel - it's so easy to walk up to the hotel from the free self-park. It's an idyllic setting, and there's so much going on in nearby Oak Brook, I would totally stay here again.

Unfortunately the overall condition of the hotel fell well below what I expected. Through out our stay which was 6 days. We repeatedly had to ask for basic items and services instead of them being provided proactively. The food at the buffet in the breakfast area was always out of food. And items were not replenished in a timely manner leaving guests with limited options. There was the usual scrambled eggs, sometimes hard boiled eggs ( but not always) omelettes, sausage or bacon, like that high carbs. And then the bathroom plumbing was an issue, the drainage wasn't going down fast enough in our bathroom sink and we stayed here exactly a year ago the same time and the same thing happened in another room on another floor, the general manager was nice enough and he overheard the conversation and said if there's anything we can do let us know. But this is a very poorly run hotel, the heat for the week that we were there in Chicago was extreme( in July)and somehow they had no AC in the lobby fortunately there were AC in the rooms but nothing in the lobby which made it unbearable to eat breakfast that early in the morning. The most concerning issue was the cleanliness. While unpacking after returning home, a live beetle or roach crawled out of my one of my packing cubes. The following morning I found another 2 inch half dead roach on my bathroom floor near my vanity bag where I left hanging out, while I can't say with certainly where it originated, this is caused significant concern about the cleanliness of our hotel room!

First off, when you first walk to a service desk, you know there's something askew when the first conversation includes "we're going to charge you extra". This was in reference to the $5 fee for not returning keys. There seems to be an "upgrade" needed for every little thing. We already had an upgrade, but still needed another for them to turn on the steam for the steamer that was already in the shower. The pillows looked like toddler pillows. We had to request additional pillows in which we had to go to the office to pickup. There were no hangers in the closet. I was afraid we would have to pay extra if we asked for some. My main issue was the disrepair and upkeep of the room. It did not make for the best aesthetics or ambience. The fireplace was not very robust, the flames were hidden behind the logs. The outlet next to the bed did not work at all and appeared to be hanging from the wall. There were rusted fixtures. Chipped paint and paneling. There was a chip at the bottom of the jacuzzi, which made me not want to get in it. This place is in need of maintenance and updating. This was not exemplary of luxury, to me. I could've gone to a Comfort Inn and paid far less and been more comfortable and had waffles for breakfast. Oh yeah, their continental breakfast is pastries and coffee. Things I did like: There was plenty of towels in the room. The lotion smelled really good. There was a blow dryer, iron, ironing board, and extra toilet tissue in the bathroom. I can see where they are trying to go, but it's not there. If you want to be taken seriously, then handle all the stuff no one sees that isn't sexy, rather than just putting lipstick on a pig. There's no consistent theme. It's like 5 different people walked through a 2nd hand store in a rush, with no other options, so each picked what they found in their scavenger hunt and then threw it all together. It's a big space. The staff was great and welcoming. Seriously, they were solid. The place is a 2 star, but staff is worth another star. It just felt like coming to visit my aunt who doesn't get a lot of visitors so she threw everything in a closet knowing guest are coming over. We all have to ignore the smell and everything else. When you are in your room and look outside at the "garden view", it's a crappy 1/2 wall that appears to have been designed and built as a favor by a drunk uncle who was in a rush. It's very small and insignificant. It's an eye sore, but the "garden" is actually just the back yard looking directly into a crappy middle class neighborhood of back yards. All in all, my "get away" upgraded experience felt more like a motel 6 with a $1,000,000 dream on a $500 budget.

Then proceeded to mention that a psychiatric service dog will be accompanying the person to which the reply was I have a no pet policy I don't care what the animal is for I do not accept animals your person is more than welcome to rent a room here but they must leave the dog somewhere else I don't care what the dog does for the person and then hung up on!
