Room. Double queen, but the beds did not feel small. Plenty big for an adult and small child.

Pros: The pool is actually more spectacular than the photos which is so rare. The grounds are beautiful. The restaurants and bars are great. Gym. Calm and quiet. Friendly staff and guests. Clean. Cons: The furniture and rooms are very clean, but very worn. They need to be replaced. But again... I don't get an unclean feeling or bad smells that usually accompany this. The carpet was replaced and not sticky or gross. Bedding is still nice and fresh. We're from STL, but we'll be back.

Beautiful property in remote Oak Brook. I believe this property used to be in McDonald headquarters campus. It has been revamped and is now Hyatt Lodge and has all the trimmings of a nice resort type property. I am reviewing the property based on my experience at the spa. The spa is run independently of the Hyatt (Windy City Massage) by another company. First off the property is very nice but it could use some updates. I will say that the surrounding atmosphere is really nice and I just love being able to take a walk and feel being in nature but also being so close to the property. For my spa day, I would give it 3.5 stars out of five. The services themselves are really good, but it's hard to justify this as a spa type experience as there isn't really an access to towels and other amenities you would need after having a luxurious spa treatment. I came to this location for two different spa days. On my first occasion, I was prepared that I would have to bring my own slippers and I was fine with that, but I wasn't prepared that there will be no towels. You are able to get towels in the pool area, but those are pool towels. There are no towels provided to wash up or take a shower so make sure you pack that Jasmine did my massage on the first day and it was very good five out of five stars. Agnes did my spa massage on my second day and it was four out of five stars. So really no big complaint with the actual treatment itself. The treatment rooms are nice. There was an essence of Essential oils and they did provide a robe once you were checked in for your service. The gym was a nice surprise and I did get to work out on the first day. On both of my spa days I did enjoy the very nice size pool, which is to the perfect temperature in addition to the hot tub. I recommend that they go ahead and do some additional cleaning in the hot tub as I did notice some things that make me pause (mold). However, there were no issues with the pool. All in all, it's a really nice property. I was able to take 45 minute stroll before my spa appointment and just visit the grounds and I really enjoyed. Tips: bring lotion, facial lotion, sunscreen, hand towels for showering and bring your own sandals. They do have shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Make sure to stop at the café and grab a banana muffin. They are delicious and it was a nice treat to have after my massage and laps in the pool. Bring a cup so that you can grab some ice and have a drink. There is an ice machine near the pool and also vending available. All in all, it was a positive experience. I have definitely been to nicer spas at hotels, but I enjoyed myself. I would say be aware if you're coming just for a spa day that the hot tub and the pool is shared with all the hotel guest so at times there can be a lot of kids. On the first occasion, there was no monitoring of the kids and they were running wild, but on the second occasion were some really well behaved kids and no issue.

We booked the reservation for the Alpenglobe in Prancer's Pub (their name for the bar area during the holiday season) well it was extremely cold outside inside the globe. They had a heater above us and a heater on the ground. This experience is $75 with a prefixed menu. The food was pretty good although if you are a vegetarian they will modify for you. It's just not the standard menu.. the experience was different. How are the food because it's so cold and they're coming outside the food was not super hot. I have pictures of the menu which include beef tenderloin, a tomato bread, prosciutto, croquettes, octopus, and other assortments.

We attended their Easter Egg Hunt and it did not disappoint! This is a must attend event for next year! My jaw dropped at the amount of eggs Hyatt Staff put out. Literally a sea of eggs. The kids had so much fun. They had a Bunny available for photo ops and even had paper bags for kids that didn't bring baskets could use to grab eggs. Well organized, began on-time and staff was available to help answer any questions. Really lovely event on a gorgeous sunny day with amazing backdrops of woods and pond with geese and a bridge.

Beautiful wedding venue! We attended an outdoor wedding that had to be moved indoors literally right as it began due to storms, and we were able to do it in the reception area. The food and drinks were also very good, especially the "blushing bride" martini at the bar, very sweet and delicious!

This hotel has the most beautiful grounds. I heard it used to be the old McDonald's headquarters. It is such a unique property that is located on a pond. The scenery is breathtaking and the walks along the trails are tranquil. The hotel itself is a little dated but overall a very great stay. The pool is huge and beautiful which includes lots of windows to the outdoors and a hot tub. The downfalls: there's only one restaurant, one place for coffee, and you are a bit stranded feeling. Overall, a super I interesting place to visit.

It was... disappointing and NOTHING like the real Drake…read more Honestly, upon arriving and seeing the place up close, I decided to leave and not stay after all. I can see where they are trying to go, but it's not there. The place is in disrepair if you pay attention at all (cracks, holes, chipped paint), a crappy elevator, there's even random crap thrown in a corner still in view of guest. If you want to be taken seriously, then handle all the stuff no one sees that isn't sexy, rather than just putting lipstick on a pig. There's no consistent theme. It's like 5 different people walked through a 2nd hand store in a rush, with no other options, so each picked what they found in their scavenger hunt and then threw it all together. It's a big space. The staff was great and welcoming. Seriously, they were solid. The place is a 2 star, but staff is worth another star. It just felt like coming to visit my aunt who doesn't get a lot of visitors so she threw everything in a closet knowing guest are coming over. We all have to ignore the smell and everything else. The stuff on the walls makes sense to her as they are her memories, but there's no theme other than her history, so none of it makes sense to anyone else. It's just awkward. The reason this place isn't booming is 100% on the owner. They are trying to look bougie, while ignoring real issues, and clearly in way over their head attempting to do way too much with too little. They need to take a loan or get an investor and make this place amazing. It could be, but it's not. Then again, not sure if the place they dream of could survive in that area as the prices would need to double and the area may not be willing to pay. Potential investors may have said the same. I see the vision, but also see the reality, which just frustrated me as there was conflict around every corner. Also, the bar closes early at like 8 or 9pm. Additionally the upgraded rooms with "garden view" are anything but. The actual room is good. The detached building however looks like it was a nursing home that's never been changed or upgraded; at least on the outside and entrance. When you walk in the front door of said nursing home, it SMELLS like a nursing home. It was strong and not in a good way. When you are in your room and look outside at the "garden view", it's a crappy 1/2 wall that appears to have been designed and built as a favor by a drunk uncle who was in a rush. It's very small and insignificant. It's an eye sore, but the "garden" is actually just the back yard looking directly into a crappy middle class neighborhood of back yards. All in all, my "get away" upgraded experience felt more like a motel 6 with a $1,000,000 dream on a $500 budget.

We stayed two nights at The Drake Oak Brook on a trip in for a concert at Allstate Arena, and by…read morethe end of it, we were already talking about when we'd come back. This is a hotel where the staff is genuinely the star. The valet, a seasoned guy with a classic Chicago accent, was warm, quick with recommendations, and set the tone the second we pulled up. The front desk matched him. For a four-diamond property at around $200 a night, it punches well above the price. The property itself earns its reputation. The landscaping is beautifully kept, with a gazebo and plenty of outdoor seating that works for a quiet morning coffee or an evening drink. Inside, the lobby has what look like Chihuly-style glass sculptures and a mid-century-Chicago kind of grandeur -- you can tell this place has hosted a lot of weddings and receptions, and it would be great for them. Our room was impressive. No real view, but the finishes were strong, the shower was good, and, a minor miracle, the TV actually worked and streamed without a fight. The in-room drink cart was generously stocked with pre-made cocktails and select wines, a nice touch you don't see often. The bar downstairs was a highlight: the "skeleton key" in the room unlocks a free off-menu drink, which is exactly the kind of small-theater move that makes a hotel feel like it has a personality. Our Platinum Marriott status got us a room upgrade and complimentary breakfast, and they were generous with points on top of that. The breakfast was nice -- though I'll be honest, I wouldn't have paid $24 for the quality of their continental spread without the comp. Parking was easy, valet is free, and the gym has Peloton bikes (we didn't use them, but good to know). 3.7 stars overall. The honest gripes: doors on the east building are thin. We could hear hallway conversations clearly, and at times other rooms, not a dealbreaker this time as people were quiet at a reasonable time, but surprising for a property at this level. The exterior lighting has also not been maintained, bulbs are out around the building, and only the "th" in the classic mid-century "The Drake" sign was lit up, which is a shame because that sign is a whole vibe when it's fully on. Also, fair warning: a traveling baseball team had effectively colonized the bar during our stay, with a swarm of tired kids and tireder parents. Not the hotel's fault, but worth knowing if you're coming for a quiet getaway during kids baseball season. What would push it to four stars: better sound insulation on the east-side rooms and a maintenance pass on the exterior lighting. Both are fixable, and the rest of the experience is already there. We'll likely be back.

The cornerish room (edge middle room between two corner rooms) they gave me looked to be recently remodeled. It looks like everything in the building is recently renovated so things for the most part seem newish. No cobwebs or dust in sight (aside from the top of the fridge being a bit dusty, but alas I don't think 6'+ housekeepers are common.) Rooms are equipped with dishwashers, full size electric ovens (some don't have an oven so you have to request it,) a toaster, microwave & a fridge. They feature stand-in showers & low height toilets. Pretty much everything in the rooms is low height which is perfect, especially for those with disabilities. The Residence Inn offers a free all you can eat breakfast buffet from 6:30 am to 9:00 am Monday thru Friday & from 7:00 am to 10:00 am on weekends. There is a pool, jacuzzi, laundry room & gym. It also has a small "marketplace" next to the front desk that consists of a few items you can grab like soda, TV dinners & snacks along with personal care items. Since the hotel is small, all of the amenities are scaled to match. This means things like the marketplace & breakfast buffet have nowhere near the selection of other busier Residence Inns like the one in downtown Phoenix which also includes things like salisbury steak, chinese food & whatever they felt like cooking for breakfast alongside the standard waffles, pancakes, oatmeal, meats, cereal, etc. The breakfast here is a measly eggs (cage free,) bacon, muffins (jalapeno cheddar biscuits in muffin form so not sweet dessert muffins,) & oatmeal. Even though the breakfast ends at a certain time they do have mini fridges that have fat free milk & yogurt along with coffee/water dispensers that are always available (they shutdown the juice dispenser once breakfast closes.) There are several cons though. My room preferences were completely ignored when they assigned the room. Since the edge room they assigned me was on a lower level & near the exit...hearing the frequent slamming of the exit door as people took the stairs was not ideal. Speaking of doors...my door was defective & wouldn't close all of the way naturally so I had to push it until it clicked every single time otherwise anyone could literally just push the door open. The view was also terrible as it overlooked the parking lot & had trees, street lights, etc. blocking the window. The ice maker on the fridge was way too loud. It produces ice at a super slow pace & the buzzer seems to go off every 30 minutes or so. When the ice is done it makes a loud bang almost like a bomb went off as it dispenses the ice into the bucket. The second con is the lack of in-house food options. Third is that there's no shuttle that'll take you to nearby places which is a missed opportunity to earn a lot of extra business from traveling professionals & tourists. For some reason there were no baking pans even though my room had an oven although they did have utensils, plates, pots, etc. The rooms are also not as soundproof as they should be... with me being able to hear people walking outside in a hallway as well as them coming in going from their rooms. I also occasionally heard my neighbors upstairs & adjacent to me moving around or snoring all of which is concerning as it leaves me wondering how much they heard from my room? For a place geared towards business...privacy should be a priority. There was also whisper levels of strange electrical noises that seems to have come from the minisplit HVAC system. I was told house keeping cleans every other day, but they didn't touch my room for the first four days even though I saw them in the hallway. It took me sitting my overflowing trash cans outside of my door for them to go inside & clean the room. Even then they didn't actually clean anything, moreso just replaced the towels as well as made the bed after taking out the trash (of which the recycle bin was returned with large bits of food in it which wasn't mine so even that was not cleaned.) Also be aware of the $5/day parking fee added to your room bill which is charged even if you aren't even driving & therefore aren't using the parking lot. There was no hand soap as well as no lotion in the room so I had to use the liquid body wash in the shower along with my own lotion. Overall, this is a much better option than the normal Marriott hotel in Downer's Grove. The bed is actually comfortable enough to sleep on, the minisplit HVAC system doesn't kick in like a mule (other than the electrical noise it's rather quiet when on,) and every other amenity is leagues ahead of a regular Marriott.
