We've stayed at Hyatt House Chicago / Oak Brook several times, and the staff has always been kind and courteous. That part is still solid. The overall vibe is still warm and welcoming, just like our past visits. But the attention to detail is starting to slip. On this stay, the elevators had crumbs sitting in the corners, the room had stray hairs in a few random places, and the window seals looked like they had not been dusted in a while. Was the room filthy? No. But if I had to put a number on it, it felt about 70 percent clean and 30 percent needs attention. Because my wife and I have stayed here multiple times, we can definitely tell the standards are easing up a bit. This is the kind of stuff that is easy to fix now, but if it keeps going this way, it gets harder to bring the place back to where it used to be. Will I stay here again? Maybe. It just will not be at the top of my list like it used to be, and not anytime soon. They've got some work to do, and I hope they get on it, because this used to be a really dependable go-to for us. read more

Did a lot of research and landed on Hyatt House. Perfect spot if you need a place to sleep. Clean and well maintained. Worth noting housekeeping is only every other day. No one told us so that was disappointing as we had dirty towels etc. Just know that going in and you won't be disappointed. read more

My fiancé booked us a suite for our one year anniversary. I loved the location and the breakfast was definitely the star of the show!!! The breakfast here had a very well presented spread that they kept refilling and piling high! I had delicious waffles, country potatoes, eggs, sausage, cereal, juice, milk. Sparkling clean facilities, like brand new. One of the few hotels we have stayed at recently where housekeeping cleans everyday. Night staff was extremely friendly and welcoming after a long drive. I was grateful at our request he moved our room to a higher floor. The next day we arrived back late at the hotel. He remembered us and greeted our crew warmly. Thank you! Our room was large and the bathroom was insanely clean. Not even a dry drop on the bathroom glass wall. The room was very hot when we walked in but after five minutes of adjusting the temp it was fine. Treadmill in the exercise room had an error issue. Breakfast was hot, fresh, and delicious. The made to order omelletes were large and delightful. Both days we had to track down kitchen staff to refill the hot coffee carafe. They were a bit hard to find on both days. Fresh cut fruit on both days also seemed really low. Other than that no complaints. Wonderful hotel to book with really great point redemption. About 20 min to chinatown. After reading some not so nice reviews we found we had a great experience here. Although our room was toasty (78 degrees) when we arrived the air conditioning quickly was able to lower the temp to 67 for sleeping. The bed was comfortable and my husband enjoyed the couch while browsing on his laptop. The bathroom was large and we were booked into a handicapped room where you could wheel into the shower if needed. Our company booked our room for us so not sure how we ended up with a handicap Room but after our group started in WI with a tour and we had dinner upon arrival to Oak Brook, it was after 9 pm when we were checking in. We were touring the Lions International Office across the street so the location could not of been any better. The next morning we enjoyed a nice breakfast that was included in our room rate. Check in and out was seem less and staff were friendly. This was our first time that we could recall staying at this hotel brand. We will keep it on our list if we are unable to get in to the brand we usually stay at. read more

First time coming here! I wanted to find the most perfect place that had free internet, complimentary breakfast and free parking. I definitely didn't know that the pool was open either but sadly their wasn't a hot tub but it's the least of my worries. Also included is a 24 hour gym, conference rooms, laundry room, small office, small bar area. The people and staff are amongst the friendliest I've encountered! Everyone is so happy here which brightens the mood up! The rooms were absolutely gorgeous! Housekeeping does a good job too! The bathrooms were absolutely amazing and it was my favorite part of the hotel! Rooms are pet and eco friendly as well! The cons to the hotel are a bit minimal but nothing that ultimately killed my experience. The free internet is a bit slow, finding a parking spot can be a bit hectic at night after traveling or out all day, The bar lacked drink variety and just the only thing that did kind of stunk was the free continental breakfast options . Overall i'd still definitely come back. The thing that topped it off was just how there's so much to do nearby the hotel, you're close to the busses to go downtown if you want to go to the city without adding miles to your vehicle. The Hyatt House Oak Brook is a wonderful hotel. I stayed here one night when I was visiting Chicago for a business trip. Everything from the reception to the room was amazing. The furniture and decor in the room was lovely, very modern and chic. Another nice perk about this hotel is breakfast is free, yes that's right, free breakfast!!! And the breakfast isn't mediocre, Hyatt House go out of their way for breakfast. The buffet includes pancakes, coffee, cereal, and an assortment of other hot items. I am SO very impressed with this hotel. Super clean, eco-friendly, very nice hotel. The rooms are large, studio type, with a nice kitchen area. The rooms and the common areas were nicely decorated, and it is clear this is a newer hotel. The staff were very accommodating and welcoming, wanting to ensure whatever issues you may have are addressed. I stayed two nights, plus we had meetings in their meeting rooms -- top notch all the way. I was chatting with the front desk and they shared that this is Hyatt's extended stay hotel format, which they have done a beautiful job executing. Not sure where the negative reviews are stemming from. I interacted with a few of the staff from the front desk to maintenance and they clearly want to provide the friendliest, best service possible. I love this hotel so much! I actually miss it, which sounds crazy, but I honestly do! My stay at the Hyatt House was the best experience I have had at a hotel in years. The room was modern, cozy, and clean. There's ample storage space and the kitchen was perfect for my stay of six nights. Free hotel breakfasts usually suck, but the one here was fantastic! The staff is very helpful and friendly...they actually made me feel at home. This lovely hotel has plenty of parking and is conveniently located near the Oakbrook Center. Anything you could want or need is a ten minute drive away. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and will ALWAYS stay here when I go home to Chicago to visit. read more

Great place to stay if you have a barking dog or lots of little kids because you can make all the noise you want and they won't do anything about it until after a couple of nights, if at all! But if you just want a peaceful night's rest, look elsewhere. We recently spent 3 nights in the 5th floor, and each night was disrupted by loud neighbors - adults, kids, a dog. Wow. Also, after we initially settled into our room and took a nap, we were awakens by dripping water over our pillows. Turns out the ceiling above us was leaking due to a preexisting roof problem. But they put us in that room anyway even though it was raining heavily upon our arrival and continued into the evening. Who's running this place? Oh the breakfast was nice. Got a double bed previously last year and the stay was lovely. This time, I got a suite here and it was pretty amazing. Only issue with the room was that the toilet paper holder was in a very weird spot. I love this hotel overall. It's near a few great malls, and a bus ride away from other good neighborhoods to explore as an out-of-towner. The free breakfast buffet is a hit. Cannot go wrong there! I paid $184 for a Saturday night. I had high expectations buttttt they definitely disappointed! The pool water was freezing and green! They didn't monitor it at all. There was sooo many people, you could barely swim. There must've been some kind of birthday party going on because there was at least 50 kids and maybe 8 adults. The room was very nice and well stocked, though.. that's why I'm giving 3 stars. The hallways smelled like marijuana very strongly and there was tons of noise. They sell snacks down by check in, I spent $50 alone just on snacks. I will say the hotel was very clean aside from the green pool. I don't know if I'd stay here again, we came solely for the pool and the overcrowding and noise made it unenjoyable. My picture of the pool was at 9am right when they opened. Also, online it says free complementary hot breakfast. There was no hot breakfast. It was just some packaged muffins, coffee and packaged cereal and milk. Do NOT stay here. Every Sunday from 9:30 am to 2:30pm there is an absolutely obnoxious church group that is literally screaming and making so much noise. We're staying in the disabled room right above their meeting space and according to management, no one's ever complained about the noise. We find that hard to believe. Unprofessional and uncaring. Considering this is a 'quiet' hotel that doesn't allow parties, it seems rather stupid that they host a church group that their soul purpose is to be screaming and disturbing the peace of paying hotel guests that were uninformed of them. read more

Staying here for 6 weeks!! And it has been such a wonderful experience so far. The whole place is super clean, eco friendly, pet friendly. This was a great 2 night stay over for work. The front desk saw that I was a Hyatt member and gave me a free upgrade to my room. I was suppose to have a room that my company had blocked and had been given a discount of some sort, but Hyatt saw that I had a hotel membership and gave me the upgrade for free. The staff was superb at all hours and on multiple days of staying there. The breakfast included in my stay was good with plenty of options to eat and the coffee wasn't too bad. During my time at the Hyatt House Oak Brook Illinois, we spotted Bed Bugs In our room. I took photos as well. Then upon further investigation we discovered the let-out Couch had lots of stains, black stains several holes around the mattress, and urine stain on the bed. The let-out couch mattress is in bad condition and should be replaced. The bedroom bed also had some spots on it as well on the side. We contacted the Hotel to explain the problem. However, the sales manager stated that the manager was unavailable at the time, and we have been waited over for several hours for manager response. We are very disappointed regarding this bed bug issue and the condition of the Mattress and room. We have photos and videos of the poor condition of the room, bed and bedbugs. I feel I was placed in the room intentionally by Hotel staff who was aware of a bedbug problem in the room. Based on a conversation that took place before being placed in the room among other things. This is because I complain on the hotel a few years ago 2020 about a dirty room with hair in the sheets as well as being overcharged. Once I complained about the bed bug issue Nicole the general Manager had the audacity to call my phone leaving a voicemail message that I still have a record of, talking about I had an unrelated complaint 2 years ago. Not addressing the current issue. This was pathetic, and I feel the reason why I was placed in a room with a known bug problem. The I was further harassed at the hotel by a staff member named Joe who called me Mr. when I'm female that was also intentional. Misgendering anyone intentional is discrimination. Ruby is not a good manager at the Hotel as well. Once we reported the Bed bug issue we were told to leave the hotel after the complaint, and proof of bed bugs. Since my complaints I have been talked about and slandered by this hotel to other Hyatt locations as well. That will be addressed appropriately. read more

You know this lady made an impression on me. It has been almost a year since my last stay and at least two years since the stay I will talk about today, but I had to leave a comment to keep my word. Ruby Martinez , YOU ARE AWESOME!!! On my first stay, a young lady who is one of the co-managers there made the beginning of my stay a living hell. Something happened after I was allowed to check in and place our things in my room. So I'm out for dinner when I get a message saying that there was a problem with the payment. Did I mention we were here for my fiancé's SURPRISE Birthday Celebration? So we had to rush from dinner to the hotel, just for the rude and heartless manager to sarcastically repeat over and over to me that she did not know what the issue was but that she could assure me that I did in fact have a room. The only issue was that I would not be allowed to enter it without paying again even though I repeatedly tried to show her that I had already been charged for the room using my banking app as proof. It was after 10 o'clock at night and I didn't have much of a choice, so I paid again. Only to be charged a third f'n time while we slept. When I woke up and saw what had happened I went to the front desk to resolve the issue. In steps, THE MS. RUBY F'N MARTINEZ. Praise God!!! Not only did she actually listen to me and look at what I was trying to show her, SHE CARED other manager!!! You know who you are. Hang your head in shame. In fact, lay it on your desk. 10 minute timeout!!! Back to THE RUBY M F'N MARTINEZ!!! She couldn't do anything right away but she recognized the financial burden that this had placed on me, on my fiancé's surprise weekend. Ms. Martinez made sure we ate, had snacks, and even had a couple drinks at the bar until she figured out what happened that caused my situation the next day. All the previous, less competent; rude; and uncaring manager had to do is actually read their own paperwork. All Ms Ruby did was turn a f'n page and READ and the problem was solved. I was issued refunds for the two overcharges and I have been back since. I called Ms. Ruby personally!!! Besides the non-compassionate, incompetent, and rude manager; everyone else was very nice, helpful and even informative. The Bartender was dope!!! Yet still, I only want to deal with Ruby Martinez. I brought my friend to a Rush for surgery, we stayed two nights at this location. Excellent, courteous, attentive front desk staff. Lobby area is large, and decorated cute for the Christmas season. Bar/eating area was nice and spacious. The hotel was overall very clean. Nice complimentary breakfast with made to order omelet station. Hot food choices and well as cold and dry cereal, with breads and small bagels. Room size was large, clean, comfortable. Comfortable king size bed, chaise lounger also in room, with a desk, refrigerator, microwave and small coffee bar area. Bathroom was spacious, again very clean. Walk in shower with nice little ledge in corner for shaving my legs. Shower head was nice height. My only negative comment is the water was not hot and this girl loves a hot shower in the morning. Close to shopping and restaurants, and just across the street from Rush/Midwest orthopedics. Definitely will stay at this location when in the area. read more

We had a very bad experience. Overall the hotel is Clean and nice but it shows much better online Than in person. The staff was nice other than the manager Mona. She made it very awkward and uncomfortable at check in. The pool was packed and I didn't feel comfortable letting my toddler swim. They should be on a reservation system. There is barely a shallow section, and by the stairs the adults are wild causing a wake pool. The gym was packed with elementary aged kids after they swam causing machines to be wet. The free breakfast was greAt. A very nice lady makes omelets per order and the coffee was pretty good. I'm giving it a 1 star review because of the manager Mona. oversold and didn't inform us until we arrived and staff was rude on top of it. what a joke

To start, the doors to the closet in the handicapped room were so difficult to open up that I ended up bashing myself in the face with the door with the strength required to open them. Follow that by there only being 4 handicapped spaces within 50-100 feet of the door (the others are across the entire parking lot from the door). Follow that by the fact that the advertisement pictures for the room had a shower chair in the shower, but they didn't have any available because 'a few were broken'. Then follow that by them offering me a slick backed chair that became a slip & slide when wet & I can honestly say they ruined my entire weekend (never mind the fact that they tried to kill me with their slip & slide chair) & the event that I drove for 6+ hours to attend. I will never stay at Hyatt again, & will be filing out a formal complaint with Human Services of Illinois about this establishment as well as the Attorney General of Illinois for their false advertising. I chose this establishment & this room because the picture showed a shower seat in for the shower. It is hard as a disabled person to find a place I can stay. My medical issues require me to do a lot of homework about traveling, but even when I do the homework it ends up like this. It makes me feel unimportant, unwanted & like a second class citizen. Just the fact that I have to hunt down rooms that are accessible in the first place (and a lot of non-handicapped people take our rooms because they have better showers) is bad enough, but then to get one & find out it isn't accessible at all is infuriating. There is no way Hyatt can make it right at this point as it is too late. I can't take a shower, so now I get to go to my event smelling like sweat & travel & my hair looking greasy & dirty. But you will pay for it dearly, Hyatt, I assure you of that. Open that wallet because the lawyers are going to bust my door down with the pictures & video I have, especially the nice big bruise on my temple caused by your dangerously difficult to open closet doors. read more

My husband booked a night for our two year wedding anniversary. The room wasn't super nice. The shower leaked all over the bathroom. Entire floor soaked behind all the way to the toilet. The bathroom door didn't lock. It wouldn't let us set the air below 68, but even after setting it to 68, the room temp never even made it to 68. We had a fire at home, and our insurance company provided housing for a few days. We chose Hyatt because it was new, and within 5 mins from home. The front desk (Gladys) was kind and compassionate toward our situation. Check in was a breeze. I like that they don't put a large hold on your credit card for "incidents"..it was only $15. The room was perfect, cleaned so well. Housekeeping really does a great job. The bed was comfy..I looked forward to sleep! The TVs were great, and you get free WiFi, and good cable channels (HBO/Max). We stayed in a King size bedroom suite w/sofa bed. It had a kitchen and everything we needed (dishwasher, fridge, stove). The only thing it didn't have was an oven, but I wouldn't have used it anyway..ha! Hot breakfast was yummy, felt like a restaurant. Kitchen staff was efficient making sure everything stayed hot and full! I did not use the pool or gym but they too looked great. The decor was modern, yet cozy. I'd definitely stay here again, hopefully next time it won't be due to a fire!!! read more

Let me first start by saying that I stayed at the Hyatt house in warrenville and it was a very pleasant stay, actually one of my favorite hotels. So I was rather disappointed at the way I was treated at the Hyatt House Oakbrook. FIRST: I booked the reservation over the phone and could have sworn that I told the agent the 21st of April, because my flight arrived at 12:20 am. But anyway that could have been my mistake or the agents, I wasn't really making a big fuss about that. SECOND: I arrive at 3:36 am, I believe. The gentleman at the front desk tells me that they were sold out and advised me to talk to a manager at 7:30 am and that they could possibly help me. He was also trying to see if it was anyway he could put me in a room just until my room became available, but he was unable to find a room. So I just had to wait to 7:30. THIRD: I come in and a manager by the name of Cynthia was on duty. She was adamant that there was nothing available until 1:00. No if, ands, or but's about it. No trying to find another solution or anything. So I was a little perturbed, because how does the front desk staff try to offer a solution and she doesn't? Fourth: I wait out in my car and call about 9:30 just to see if possibly a room became available. She was straight to the point again no in between. FOURTH: I come into the lobby at about 12:10 to wait around. I became enraged when I saw another employee go to housekeeping to check to see if a room was ready for a White gentleman. I am now enraged. I was saying to myself they actually went out of the way and not called to see if the room was ready for this gentleman. So I guess Cynthia noticed the look on my face and started to approach me saying that she was just about to tell me that my room was ready. Now if we really want to be technical, the cameras at the hotel can be viewed and you will clearly see that she tried to approach after the gentleman was checked in. What really pissed me off was that I was not asking for a handout I would have paid for the extra time. I booked the hotel for over 14 nights totaling around $2200. I hate to make things a black or white issue, but I really felt that if I wasn't black with red hair I would have been accommodated. I am very upset that the Hyatt House doesn't value guests of all races. ONE LAST THING: I called the Hyatt's customer service number and explained the situation to a supervisor there, and they informed me that since I was at the property that I had to speak to a manager there and connected me to Cynthia. Wow! Beautiful and clean. Love the eco-friendly features. Bed and pillows are great. Fridge, microwave, and stove are so nice to have. Tv is huge. Fitness room is perfect and I love having netflix on the treadmills! I've been staying at the Double Tree and compared to that this place feels like paradise. They offer so much and are willing to go above and beyond to ensure the comfort of their guests. I'm impressed. read more

If I could give this place a lower rating I would, but unfortunately, the lowest I can is 1 star. Heaven, Cynthia & Nicole (general manager) are very unprofessional. The employees have more tact, class and represent the hotel more professionally than the managers/superviors does. Heaven (Housekeeping Supervisor) accused my family of being drug addicts, which we are not; she then took it upon herself to discuss drugs with our boys (no onea gave her permission to do this; the youngesta boy is 10). Heaven also entered our room without permission & took pictures of our business bank account information & 1 of our business credit cards is missing (Heaven was the only person besides us in the room). We informed Cynthia (Asst GM) of this matter, but she had a nonchalant attitude and said to talk to Nicole (GM). We informed Nicole of this matter & she instantly got upset and said she has known Heaven for over 4 yrs and said Heaven did nothing wrong. Nicole then stated (while she was still in her feelings) that she would call the police and have us escorted. The entire time we remained professional and although I wanted to use profanity towards her I didn't. Also the first night we were there, someone at the front desk gave another couple keys to our room; this couple used their key to gain access to our room. The next day, someone from the hotel deactivated our key cards. I have e-mailed the VP in hopes that he can help rectify this matter because trying to deal with the incompetent managers/supervisors at the Oak Brook location is a waste of time. My recommendation is that no one make a reservation at this hotel; if you do, you will be called a drug addict, someone will walk in your room on you, employees will discuss drugs with your kids, your personal information will be compromised AND you will have the police called on you. read more

Having drinks at the bar in front the other day and the older bartender Lori hands me glasses that are dirty..... I bring it to her attention multiple times and she gives me attitude. She did however make it right after I pushed. Later on tried to order off the menu and was told she only can make me certain items....what is the point of the menu?! I stayed in this hotel for one week while receiving medical treatment at Loyola Hospital for an eye injury. First I would like to say that the room was very nice and clean, and everything very new. I really appreciated the suite, as I ended up staying longer than I had initially planned. I have stayed in many hotels due to my work,(I am a nurse) and I am really not one to complain. However, the staff at the desk, particularly Heaven and Gladys were unbelievably rude and condescending. They did not seem to know how to charge a bank debit/credit MasterCard, and kept running the card over and over. They called my room to tell me that the card was not going through and they needed another form of payment. After speaking with my bank and my bank speaking with the front desk, it was determined that there was nothing wrong with my card, and that it was the hotel running the card over several times for different amounts and then reversing it, that caused the problem. When my bank and I told Gladys and Heaven at the front desk, they were rude and kept saying: "I don't know why it is only YOUR card that is having a problem! I have charged several credit cards today, and never had this problem with anyone else!" They would not admit it was their problem. After all was said and done, it was indeed their fault, and they overcharge my account by over $1600.00. I spoke with the corporate office and the charges were reversed, but the girls at the hotel Gladys and Heaven) never apologized nor admitted it was their fault. The corporate office did apologize however. The fire alarm went off and smoke was in the hallway one night, someone was apparently cooking and set the alarm off. When I went down to the desk they did not even know it was going off. The girl at the desk did call someone immediately once I told her, and the problem resolved, however I think she should have known about it somehow without me having to tell her it was going off. The staff is all very young including the hotel manager, (Nicole) and I think they need at least one seasoned manager on each shift to be there in case things like the above happen, I loved the hotel, but the staff and treatment I received from them will keep me from going back there any time soon. read more

The hotel itself is nice and in a good location, parking is included which was nice too. I stayed there July 5th and 6th. I booked two separate nights at hotels.com. The rooms were fully paid in advance. I noticed that my bacnk statment had a pending charge for one night of my stay (which there shouldn't be as the both nights were fully paid in advance). I called the hotel and was told it's just an authorization and that I wasn't being charged. Checked later and they in fact charged me for the room I had already paid for. Contacted the hotel at 8:15 am central and was told I'd get a call back. Called again at 1:15 pm and was tld that the general manager was in a meeting. I called Hyatt's main customer service number and opened a case. Fours hours later and I still haven't heard a word from anyone at Hyatt.
