We had to wait 15 minutes before we were checked in because there was only 1 staff member. We were then surprised with an 18% mandatory additional charge that wasn't advertised online and told it was "for the staff". A bit shady if you ask me, but whatever. We already had a reservation for our anniversary and weren't going to throw it away for an extra $25. When we got to the splatter room we were both given 2xl shirts because they were "out of other sizes". All in all: fun place, but service was lackluster, the additional 18% put a sour taste in my mouth, the understaffing causes issues, and the rage room had a limited assortment of things to break, and the splatter room paint gun broke on us during the experience. Leaving a 3 star because the employee had a smile the whole time, the experience went mostly according to plan, and we left with a canvas and a shirt each that the employee gave us really nice boxes to put in.

While waiting on the birthday girl I went in the store to look around. No other customers were there, and when asked if I needed help I mentioned I was meeting my grandaughter to build a bear in a bit. This was at 5:40pm. No one mentioned that they close at 7 and stop making bears at 6:45. We ate at the food court. While eating, the birthday girls daddy walked over to the store and noticed it closes at 7pm. We all rushed over and arrived at 6:46. They told us that we were too late to make a bear. They stop taking orders at 6:45. We were 1 minute late! We were told they would not make an exception because if they made an exception for 1 person they would have to do it for everyone. I looked up and I saw tears rolling down my daughters eyes it broke my heart! So 5 year old birthday girl and her mom were both crying. We left so sad and disappointed What was supposed to be a fun celebration turned into a very sad evening. Creating a birthday bear was a huge thing to my grandaughter. She was so excited! These 2 employees made no effort to help us out and exhibited no empathy whatsoever. We were 1 minute late! That rule was not posted anywhere! It got a bit warm but it was a very very busy day. Dangerous heat advisory outside and the last few days before school starts. I can't wait to see what it's like once school is in session. It's a really great idea that they have slippers at the bathroom hallway so you don't get your socks wet in anything that might be in the floor of the bathroom. Very thoughtful. Snacks and drinks can be purchased there, you can go in and out as much as you need to get stuff for your kids. It's great time! Just go and do it.

We had the first party of the day which was great, as the gym wasn't super crowded. The party room was a good size with huge windows that overlooked the kids side of the climbing gym. It easily accommodated 12ish kids, parents and family. It included a full size fridge/freezer, ice machine, and kitchenette. Cutlery and paper products were included. I would definitely recommend bringing table cloths. We bought some and then forgot, whoops. Our party host was Dawson, and he was a phenomenal guy. Super helpful, extremely patient with a herd of rabid cats- I mean, kids- and was just a genuinely nice guy. The kids gym was nice, a bit smaller than I was expecting. We've been to similar gyms elsewhere (see reviews) and this one left a bit to be desired. I wish it was bigger with more walls. Even still, there wasn't a long wait with the exception of the city skyline part. The kids also enjoyed going to the "bigger" room, which is standard indoor climbing walls, that are double the height and not themed. After orientation, the kids ended up with about an hour and a half of climbing and a half hour in the party room for food and cake. This worked out great though the kids were bummed when they couldn't go back after the party to climb. The gym definitely gained a bunch of new customers after this party, many of the parents were thrilled to find this place. The price for the party was really great too. For those who are interested, they do also have a bouldering section (age 14+ only) auto belay and standard belay walls, climbing clubs (kids and adults), meeting rooms and other classes (yoga, etc). All in all, I definitely recommend High Point Climbing. If you do a party here, definitely put a time 15 minutes prior to the actual start on the invites so that kids can get geared up and oriented asap so they can maximize climbing time.
