Had a great date night with my hubby here, but have to echo all of the comments saying the staff is rude. They were actually fine to us, two adults. A bit cold, but good enough. What we didn't appreciate was how poor their attitude was with the children. There were two separate tables for a party with younger kids and parents. The staff scolded the kids multiple times for going back and forth between their tables. The kids weren't even rowdy or running. I understand there's a lot of delicate pottery around, but there are nicer ways to say it. I definitely wouldn't bother coming to this location if I had kids. I'm going to assume both employees are owners here as there's no way a store would keep employing people with such sour attitudes at a place like this. read more

How many reviews does it have to take for something to be done about that rude woman. She's so unfriendly and we're not expecting you to be extremely energetic but at least a little sense of you actually care. You're working with children and families. For the price we're paying you can at least be present and not answer questions or give direction in a way that makes us want to leave. Going in the back and being on your phone when it's literally your job to provide the paints and materials and we have to wait for you. If customer service isn't for you then find something that does. It's not fair to the people who are just trying to have a nice activity to do and spending a ton of money. Really disappointed in the customer service. Myself and daughter went in today (walk-in) to try the place out. The front desk informed that there was a waiting list. That's it. Then add a dead stare. I had to ask how long is the wait? Response "I don't know". Then back to dead stare. I asked if I can look around. As we were looking around I heard someone come in and say they have a reservation. THIS is what I need to know! Not just dead staring at me. How hard would it be to say "X amount of people are ahead of you, but you can try tomorrow. I recommend going to our website and make a reservation". I didn't know there was a reservation system it was our first time. At the end, not going back. I'm really disappointed with our experience tonight. My husband took our almost 4-year-old son to paint something for his grandma for Mother's Day--he had been looking forward to it all day and was so excited. They arrived just two minutes after "last call," and honestly, we understand policies are policies. That part isn't the issue. What is the issue is how the situation was handled. The staff were unnecessarily cold and dismissive. Instead of offering a simple, kind explanation, they just said "no" and stared--no effort to engage, no warmth, nothing. My young child was left feeling embarrassed and like he had done something wrong, which is really upsetting as a parent. This is a place that's supposed to be welcoming to kids and families. It would have taken very little effort to say something like, "We're done taking painters for tonight, but we'd love to have you come back tomorrow! What would you like to make for your grandma?" That kind of response would have made all the difference. We left with a disappointed child and a pretty sour impression. Customer service, especially in a kid-focused environment, should come with at least a baseline level of kindness and awareness. Unfortunately, that was completely missing here. read more

We were barely in the store for 5 minutes at around 12:20 pm which was 20 min after they had opened. The workers had an attitude right away and were incredibly unfriendly. At this location, they have a rule that they charge the studio fee for every 2 hours. I've been to multiple Color Me Mines recently and have never heard of this before. They also did not have pencils and claimed they didn't do stencils anymore as the loudspeaker advertised that there were going to be stamps and stencils. We left before we even started painting because they didn't even approach us to fill the paint palette we had numbered which seemed to happen often as the employee seemed incredibly unbothered that we were leaving so quick. Do yourself a favor and just drive to the El Segundo location. They don't seem to want your business here anyway read more

I made reservations online for a Saturday for $20 ($10 a person). Once you make a reservation you can't un-reserve it - You're out what you paid for it. Reservations start at noon when they open and I think they end at 4 pm. You're given two hours to pick your piece of pottery and paint it. Walk ins are welcome and I think you could walk in if you're a party of two and be seated fairly fast. If you reserve online, they will subtract the $10 a person fee from your total purchase. Each pottery has a price tag on it and some of the prices don't make sense. For instance, a mug is about $30, but a coaster is about $45. After looking around we decided on a bowl and a cute dragon. After you choose your pieces, you choose your colors (found on the wall). You write what color you want on their pallet (there are 5 slots) and an employee will help with the paint. The woman working with us was holding down five tables (from 2 - 4 people per table) all at once. She was walking back and forth re-filling the paint pallets for everyone and answering the phones. She was also checking out everyone. She was a superstar! If she saw your water was dirty she'd change it right away. It was great having her around. For painting - The more layers you add the darker the color will be. If you don't add any color that section will come out white. Picking up your piece - A text message will be sent to you saying it's ready for pick up. It'll have a picture of your order and you must present that picture to the employee when picking up. You also have 7 days from the time you receive your text to pick up your order or it's subject to "donation". Overall I paid about $75 (minus the reservation fee) for the products we bought and it took the entire two hours to paint. read more

This was our first time visiting Color Me Mine in Torrance, and unfortunately it will be our last. We came in as walk-ins with our two daughters (ages 7 and 10), who were very excited, but the experience was completely ruined by the woman working there. From the moment we walked in, she was extremely cold and unwelcoming--no smile, no greeting, nothing. One of my daughters even said "hello" to her, and she glanced at her and completely ignored her, which was very upsetting. You could clearly tell she didn't want to be there. When we politely asked how long the wait would be, she said she "couldn't tell us" and that if there was an opening, she would call us. Her tone was rude and dismissive, especially considering this was our first visit and we were simply asking basic questions. The way she emphasized "if" felt unnecessary and unprofessional. Customer service was terrible, and being rude to children--especially in a place meant for kids--is unacceptable. If you don't enjoy working with people or children, this is not the right environment. I would never return to this location and definitely would not recommend it to families. Went to this place for a fun girls night with 4 of my friends and it was super fun, would highly recommend! The process was very straightforward, we had to pick a pre-made item then choose a few colors to paint with. They had a lot of sizes/items to choose from, with most of us choosing containers. In the picture below, everything except the bowl opens up into an unsuspecting container! I think people usually have 90 minutes to paint, but we came closer to the closing time so we had to kind of rush to get everything done within an hour. One thing that I didn't like though was that I called ahead early in the day I wanted to come and asked about if we could check on wait times and the person told me we could call ahead before we came and she'd be able to tell us if there would be an estimated wait or not. So I called ahead about 30 minutes before my friends and I were set to meet here and a different girl told me that wasn't an option and that she wasn't even able to tell me if there was a wait or any kind of availability - we would have to go in person to check, even if they were fully booked out, which just seems like a waste of time.....fortunately when we got here, there was one last table available and they stopped taking groups after that. read more

I have always wanted to go here. This place has been here ever since i was a child and up until now, I never got to go. So I finally went and told the lovely ladies at the front that it was my first time. You pay a studio fee of $9, and you pay for the price of the mug or plate or whatever ceramic you want. They have a decent selection of plates or ceramics with prices listed on them. this part is pricey but, they glaze it and put it in the oven when you are done. I picked a mug for $30. Then, you sit down at a table and you are given brushes and an easel to pick what colors you want (the colors are unlimited). When you paint the ceramic, the number of coats you put will impact the shade/intensity - the more coats you put, the more intense your color will be. Also dip your brushes in water after and swirl well so there wont be color mixing. In total with tax, it was $40 something. But hey, its something I always wanted to do so its all good. I sat down and picked my colors from a menu and then they brought it to me and I started painting. I picked a design I saw on instagram, and I was there for two hours. I tried not to focus too much on if it will be perfect and at one point I added a lighter blue to see what would happen, I am so glad I didn't make that the primary color to my lines. If anything I was more worried that my colors would be darker since i kept adding multiple coats for fun. Then a week later, i came back and picked up my piece. Looking back, i should have picked a red, but I still loved it and it reminds me of spring. You can bring a friends here, a family member or a date and it's a nice way to be creative and have fun. It is a bit on the expensive side, but I think its worth trying especially if you like being creative. read more

This is my second time at a color me mine and I couldn't have been more satisfied with the experience. My partner and I just recently celebrated our year and a half anniversary and we needed somewhere to go very last minute before our day ended. We went here an hour or two before closing, and the workers there were still so accommodating! We normally would never go to a business this close to closing but we really didn't think we would take all the time. We decided on a plate to paint and the worker gave us all of the materials we needed and every color we wanted. She instructed us clearly what to do and some tips on how to make the colors bolder. This is my second visit to this establishment. I do enjoy taking my gdtr there. It is clean and the staff is very helpful and friendly, and there are quite a few different items to choose from. The only thing I wasn't to happy with was the amount of paint the give you in the ceramic plates they use they to distribute the paint. As shown on my pictures. You certainly go through a lot of paint while painting your item and because of this you constantly have to be asking for paint. When they are busy you have to wait for them to come around or somehow get their attention for more paint. I understand why this would be done for a child, but for an adult I think the paint distribution should be more than that of what is given. My sons were given a painting kit purchased at color me mine for Christmas. They were purchased at another store, which is far too far away for us to drive our pieces there to be fired. I return them to our local store here to have them fired with the receipt which we frequent often. They charge me $12 additional, per piece, to fire it even though it would've been included had returned to the original store. I was told the owner is "choosing" not to honor the deal to fire them, even though that was included in the original purchase fee as they are not the same owners. Considering it costs them almost nothing to fire and we are regular customers, I would think the owner would offer to fire it ( smart business). But she did not. Ps. I was told if I didn't include the receipt they would have fired it for free as they can't prove where it came from. read more

While my daughter and I had a great time painting there, the pick-up was not as smooth as it should be. They texted me that my items were ready to be picked up and confirmed a time to pick them up. I replied and got no response. I went today, 10/24/22, at 12pm on the dot to pick them up. However, they were not open. The sign on their door says to text the same number that texted me that my items were ready. I did that. Repeatedly. I never got an answer. Finally, a young man came 22 minutes later and opened the store, and I received my items along with another woman who was also waiting to pick up her items. They were rude and not welcoming from the beginning (we went in at 3pm so they weren't closing), and they nickle and dime you for everything. We went to paint a family item for grandma and they wanted to charge us $10 for every person who picked up a brush, even my husband who only wanted to write the names, and even the newborn who needed to add a footprint. And that's on top of a $60+ piece. I recommend you find another location. read more

Pretty rude staff that have the nerve to ask for tip at the end of your transaction. No warm welcomes from any of the workers just a "what are you here for" along with a scold for even entering. I guess its better than the first time I came here, I got a blank stare for coming in at 4 to paint when they take the last walk in at 4:45, and yes they DID NOT take us. Not sure if it was because we didn't bring a child along, either way painting is for everyone. Well I even witnessed them getting hostile towards mothers with children. They get upset to refill your paint or change your water like cmon, you're not serving food or anything difficult of that nature... you're pumping, not even pouring, paint from a table thats 10 feet away and the sink is even closer than that. Maybe the glazing process or whatever they do in the back is a hassle but I don't know much about that, all I know is their workspace is small (minimum walking), their duties on the floor are very simple (minimal mental/ physical exercise) the workers themselves choose the music (enjoyable foe them as they play their explicit music as loud as they want to not hear customers) and they get to close an hour early if they decide to (they don't work 8 hour shifts), therefore there is no excuse for workers to be rude & grumpy. 1. Still go since what they want is not any customers lol. 2. Go at 4 and take up all two hours of time so they don't get the satisfaction of leaving early (revenge plus it allows others to pick up their items that might not be aware they close early if no one is inside at 5) 3. Not even worth giving them 1-Star! Brought our group of 6 Girl Scouts on a Friday night at 5:30pm to work on completing a Pottery Badge & enjoy a group activity together. All to be told that because there were more than 8 in our group (only the 6 girls were painters) that we would be charged 15% gratuity to sit at the larger table. We had called over a week in advance inquiring as to pricing, reservations, etc for our size troop and was told that for a Friday night we wouldn't need to have a reservation and could just come on in. There was no notification of a large group gratuity when I spoke to the gentleman on the phone. Being that the activity is funded by the girls troop fund of money raised by them selling cookies, we're mindful of every penny we have them spend. The only way to get around this forced gratuity for a party of 6 painters is for us Mom's to stand outside in front of the store and wait for them to be finished. Also our girls were forced to move from the tall large table supposedly for groups of 8 painters down to a table set for 4 painters. They pulled folding chairs and made all them squish onto the small table. As if they were expecting another bigger group. Which they had previously shared they had no group reservations for the evening. We have been here for over an hour and there have been approximately 2 tables with 2-3 painters max. Only for the reason that we would disappoint our girls by leaving, did we give our business to them. Regina, the Assistant Manager and Natalia, an additional worker clearly had attitudes from the moment our group entered the store. I want to make note that I have had 3 birthday parties hosted here for my daughters since they opened, as well as attended several parties we were invited to. We went to the Torrance location for Valentine's Day. It was so much fun! It was a full-house and was very well organized. We were given excellent instructions and our hosts were very attentive. The staff was ready with more glaze as soon as we needed it. The snacks were delicious and plentiful. What was especially nice was the people who were hosting were genuinely interested in making sure everyone had everything they needed. Highly recommend this location! read more

When we walked in, it wasn't too busy. There was a couple parents with their young children painting. I came in with my 7 year old and when the employee started talking to us, i could barely hear her. The music was way too loud and not kid friendly at all. We came to paint and relax and it was anything but. We asked if they could turn the music down a bit, but it was still not an appropriate genre for the environment. Mostly kids under 10 and Sublime (explicit lyrics) played. Other than that, the staff was somewhat attentive. At times, had to wait for paint for long period of times.
