Cool place for kids to play around with remote controlled gadgets and gizmos and learn the basics of circuits and design fundamentals. We came here for a birthday party. Not a huge place, but they do have a nice area for the festivities and for small group activities. Our activity was to build a simple robot. Kids got a chance to take apart a motor and wire to the appropriate power source. They also worked with small parts and screwdrivers. Overall a fun experience for our 6 yo. It looks like they also have classes and competitions for the older kids. We had a great introduction into this robotics world and we'll be looking in to classes and other educational offerings here. read more

My son just had his 5th birthday party at Rolling Robots and boy, it was a HUGE hit. The guys at RR were so awesome with kids and you can tell they just love building robots and entertaining kids. They made sure each and every child was attended to, specially the birthday boy. We had my daughters 6th birthday party here. She loves Minecraft. We were able to bring and set up food and decorations about 15-20 minutes before our scheduled time. They allow the kids to battle robots in the arena while waiting for guests to arrive. The main host was amazing and patient with the kids as he taught them to build their take home robots. Birthday girl also gets a shirt! We had about 13 kids total that were definitely entertained and had lots of fun. They also helped with cutting and serving the cake. The overall price was reasonable, definitely recommend! read more

I was trying to find a venue for my son who was turning 6. Everything in the South Bay had been done by us before and all of his friends: Kids Concepts, Chuck E. Cheese, My Gym, Scooter's Jungle. I wanted something different and unique and found this place randomly by scouring the Internet. We stopped by for a visit and immediately booked the party! The guys in the store were so friendly and great with my boys. We had the party a few weeks later and it was a HUGE HIT! The boys LOVED that they were able to take their robot home!! One of my son's friends said it was the best party he had ever been to. Another friend slept with his Smart Robot that night and even took it with him to Arizona when they visited relatives a month later!! The guys in the shop were great - helping the boys out each step of the way and keeping the energy and interest high! It was nice to have the whole place to ourselves and the separate room for food/drinks was great. It was a very easy party! I was shocked that not more people knew about this place. Every single parent there commented on how great this place was and how they never even knew it was there. The only thing I can say that could improve the service was if the guys could help out with bagging up the gifts and carrying out to my car at the end of the party. I know it's a minor detail but when you're trying to say good bye to everyone and hand out party favors to the guests, that little extra touch would have been nice. I know that at My Gym and Kids Concepts parties, the hosts do that for you. Other than that, everything was absolutely perfect! I will definitely be recommending Rolling Robots to all of my friends! This place is so cool! I'm so surprised that nobody reviewed this place yet. Totally love the battle arena with all the robots. So each game is 1 min practice, which is where you try to familiarize with your controler (totally looks big, bulky, old school PS2). Then you get 5 mins to battle it out. The pricing depends on which robots you decide you want to play with. The samurai looking ones are only $1. Totally cheap! But the best robots have a cool shield that goes up and down with the other arm having a totally cool weapon that swings around. and only $3 YES! I didn't know how to use the controller obviously so I spent most of the time going around and around and hitting the other robots then just trying to score the points, which is the point of this game. Very fun and cheap. They also have a bunch of others toys and robots for you to buy. I saw one that was $230! No thanks. I'd rather battle the Decepticons in the arena. read more

This place was awesome! I think as far as kids entertainment goes, you get what you pay for and this was moderately priced for a large group of kids that all want to build and battle robots. I don't know what Richard D. is complaining about. If you aren't satisfied you can say something to the store and they'd probably fix the problem. Also, you aren't paying for a toy, you are paying for the experience and the birthday party atmosphere and you get to take something home with you. They do validate for party hosts (All-day valet) which isn't bad. I mean, you can't expect a store to validate parking for 20-30 guests, I don't think anyone does that. read more

We hosted our son's 6th birthday party here yesterday and everyone had the best time!! I rarely rate a place so quickly, but I had to share our fantastic experience with this facility! From the minute we walked through the doors to setup for our party, the Rolling Robots employees jumped into action, assisting us with every aspect of the party, from hanging decorations, to greeting guests, engaging the kids in robotics, pacing the party, serving cake, whatever was needed!! Their customer service is top notch, and they were able to keep 15 young kiddos fascinated and focused on building robots!! Truly amazing!! They offer STEM camps and enrichment classes too! Be careful. Although the things they sell in the stores are fun, and the people who work there are generally nice, signing up for their classes are misleading. My son and I had signed up for $55 for a Saturday to build a robot that could be used for Minecraft. They also promised a pizza lunch. All via email, confirmed. We get there, and they don't have enough working computer terminals to go around; then, it turns out to be essentially a programming class. Nothing physical gets built, and no lunch. When I tried to express my concern they didn't know who the owner was. Had to get a lawyer. Their lawyer has the owner call me, and she has no idea what we're talking about. read more

My 6.5 year old son LOVES the classes here! He goes 3-4 times a week on an open monthly pass and is bummed out that he can't go on the weekend or his guitar class days. The teachers are awesome and give the kids as much direction they need to start their own projects and support to carry on. Best after school activity I've found for my son yet! read more

My wife and I just held our son's 8th Birthday at the Palos Verdes location. He and his friends had a wonderful time. The staff was great at keeping all the kids engaged; they were so polite and patient with them. They took exceptional care in teaching them how to control the large robots in the competition arena as well as how to build their own to take home. The restaurant with whom they partner is really a step above what one would normally serve at a kids party. Overall, it was a great afternoon: kids were engaged, while the parents could chit-chat; it was very educational; the staff was impeccable; all at a very reasonable price. Had my son's 6th birthday in Palos Verdes location on February and he and his classmates loved it. Inquiring about the party was easy and the guys here were very helpful. First part of the party was playing with the robots while we waited for everyone to arrive. Next part was taking everyone to the party room where they built their robots. I forgot his name but the bald guy was the one leading the kids and the other staff were helping around the table as they built their creation. The bald guy was very entertaining and energetic. The children were 5 and 6 so it took them a while to build their "smart robot." The birthday boy get to pick one kind of robot to build ahead of time. Last part was the food and cake! I was happy that they allowed us to bring any type of food. We also brought our own cake. They had pizzas there which was ok. After the kids ate, they played at the robots arena again. I had my sons 5th birthday at Rolling Robots. It was a big success and I think considered pretty unique from the other parents. The kids built robots under instruction of the staff in uniform (box robots for toddlers, and actual remote little droids for the older kids), this was a big hit and the kids get to bring the robots home. There is also a large battlefield where the kids all control robots (different robots than those built) and make them run into each other - this was also a hit with the toddlers. On the downside, the remote control robots are actually pretty difficult to control and so you sort of just hail-mary instead of any "calculated attacks" as the Dads had hoped - which was a bummer. Also the staff was a little too "on it". I was constantly reminded of times, and schedules and asked if we were "having fun" from all sides - and to all parents - almost too often. Maybe it was misguided attempts to "connect" with the customers. But, that was my only complaint. All in all, it was a great time. We had several compliments from parents and my son still talks about the experience and loves to read the robot book that came free with the robot he built. So, if you are on the fence - I say "go for it". Your kid will love it. read more

This review is long overdue. My son loves robots (and dinosaurs) and is a fan of Robot Combat League TV show, so Rolling Robots was an obvious choice. We celebrated my son's 6th birthday at this location and it was GREAT!! The staff is awesome! The three young men working the afternoon of May 27, 2013 were attentive, accommodating, and patient. They managed to keep the kids (and parents) engaged...and this is not an easy thing to do with 10 boys under the age of 7. The parents and the kids loved it! Even the older siblings of the guests were impressed by this place (and all the older siblings just happen to be 8-9 yr old girls...my daughter included.) My son LOVES his Rolling Robots T-shirt; it was the next best thing to his "Gypsy Danger" birthday cake (for you Pacific Rim fans). We were really concerned about the children's ability to focus and follow the instructions, especially after seeing the robot pieces laying there on the table. One of the staff members told me " you'd be surprised what these kids can do". He was absolutely right. With their team's guidance, these kids walked out of there with robots that they had built with their own little hands AND with the confidence of knowing that if they put their minds to it, they could do it again. My boys love this place. My oldest has been coming here for about a year now and he never complains he has to go. He's always up for it. The instructors are always super nice and helpful and they get to learn all kinds of really cool things, build bots and program. But my boys especially love minecraft night and it's great because I get 3 hours to myself. Recently, this past weekend (New Year's eve weekend), we had a party for our youngest (turning 6). I wanted to combine his birthday with a pre-new year's eve celebration. I was originally going to book the evening time slot, have 6 kids dropped off at Rolling Robots for two hours of fun, while the adults hung out at our house, kid free, but I blew it and didn't book when I should have and by the time I realized, that slot was taken. Arash was super cool and accommodating. He had both 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 time slots booked for birthday parties at Rolling Robots, but worked it out to come to our home and set up a minecraft server with up to 10 laptops so our kids could play multiplayer and battle it out in real time, LIVE! It was sooooo cool. Arash is super chill. Nothing rattled him. Kids would show up and he just pulled another laptop out, connected instant and kid was battling with focused intent. Unfortunately, my boys were tired from not sleeping well the night before. Both at different times had a melt down because one was killing the other ( in minecraft, of course). I would go up to Arash and ask him if he could isolate two players so they were just playing each other, or at one point, half the group wanted to be in creative mode and the other wanted to be in survival and Arash was able to quickly shift them into their different modes and worlds. Not once did he get flustered with all the different requests. He was super pleasant, always helpful and on the ball. I can't thank you enough Arash. You made it happen. We actually had two different parties going on, one for the kids and one for us adults. It was the best and we wouldn't have had it work without Arash. read more
