Prices for shooting at the rifle and pistol range at only $20 for tow hours. What I like most about this establishment is the positive vibe. Customer service is over the top, and safety is a top priority. They have a great staff on the rifle range. The rifle and pistol ranges are outdoor, but are covered with a canopy that runs the distance of the range. This keeps overhead sun and wind to a minimum the targets are already placed on the rifle range at 50 and 100 yards for you, no need to bring your own. I have been here quite few times before and have never had an experience quite like today, I show up at the pistol and rifle range with my wife and sister in law and this range safety officer is very judgmental while checking our ammunition. Afterwards we check into two lanes and we start shooting like normal when two regulars walk in and start breaking the 1 round per second and then the range safety officer proceeds to come up to me and scold me telling me I need to slow it down like I'm a child when I'm not the one breaking the rule! The guys in the next stall continue to laugh about the situation. I don't care if regulars get treated better but don't blame me for their behavior. I then finished up in pistol and moved over to the rifle range and the RSO had to continue to lecture me now about my ammunition, he checked my ammunition again at the shooting booth which was .308 and .223 Remington he argued that I was putting .300 blackout in my rifle and that it would explode in my face. I don't even own a .300 blackout weapon nor the ammunition for it! This was an absolutely terrible experience and it sucks to have to leave a review like this but until they change our business will be going elsewhere! read more

Public outdoor range with great rates ($20/hour) and separated lanes for rifles and pistols. A bit off the beaten path with a patch of bumpy gravel access road. When using the rifle range, an optic with magnification is recommended to be able to spot grouping at 50 yards from your lane. I've been to Colorado Clays twice. On both occasions, the staff have been more than friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. As a newbie to guns as a hobby, this was important to me. I've used the rifle range and the pistol range. Both seemed clean, well organized, and fully operational. I never used the clay shooting range, so i can't really speak to that portion of the business. I sincerely have 0 complaints, which is rare for me. This range is pretty awesome especially coming from the city, a little drive out to Brighton and you'll find a very organized place with very poor cell phone reception just so you know. Went to go shoot some clays with the shotgun the officer told us the rules and was out of our hair after that it was a ton of fun. They fly's are remote operated and randomly go in different directions and you can shoot as many of your gun as you want, but it is only one shell at a time for the clays. No biggie. The handgun range is indoor/outdoor which is awesome to be able to have some good airflow going. I'd definitely recommend this range it's very inexpensive if you have your own guns and ammo like most places and over all just a great time. read more

My husband had I had such a fun time at Colorado Clays! We are both rookies when it comes to guns and clay shooting, so we were both very apprehensive about going. We got some very thorough, yet fun instructions from Corey. He helped us setup, shoot and often checked back in with us to make sure everything was going well. The place was pretty busy for a Saturday and they only had 1 rental gun for us. It was quite large for me, but we made it work. Next time, I will make a reservation ahead of time. Been here a number of times to shoot clays & usually have a good time. Decided to check out the rifle range as I needed to sight in my rifle. The people at the front desk were friendly, but the RSO was pretty rude and started yelling at me for not getting my rounds on target. I acknowledged that I was not on target yet & explained that I was sighting in my rifle so that I could get on target. The RSO then told me that if my rounds missed the target that I could not shoot there. I only took a few more shots as the RSO was now hovering over me to make sure I didn't screw up. I felt really uncomfortable at that point since he would not leave me alone and ended up packing my stuff and leaving. Was only there for about 20 minutes and wasted $20 & about 2hrs driving there from Lakewood. Now I have to find a different range to sight my rifle in at. read more

I have been to Colorado Clays many times over the last 10 years or so and it never gets old. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and the place is always kept clean. The sporting clays are the most fun, but don't forget about skeet or clay pigeon shooting. The rifle and pistol ranges are second to none and if you don't bring targets then don't worry. They have some nice ones for a buck a piece. We worked with Amy today mostly on the pistol range, but I have worked with all the range managers over the years in which they are second to none. I am not sure why anyone would give this place less than a five star, but if they did then I'd have to say that person is the problem not Colorado Clays. You should stop on by and bust some clays or hit some targets. read more

This place is a blast (pun definitely intended). I've been here a few times to shoot trap and have had a really great experience each time. It's really great to have such an awesome facility that's open to the public and only about 30 minutes drive from Denver. The signage to get to the facility is great, you'll have no trouble finding it. The road is a bit bumpy, but that's to be expected in this part of Colorado. Once you get in, you stop by the clubhouse and they'll get you all set up and explain everything. The staff is really friendly and helpful. They also sell shells in case you forgot (like me) for a very reasonable price. They offer 3 types of shooting: trap, skeet, and sporting clays. Trap and skeet are $7.50 a round and sporting clays are $40, very reasonable IMO. The facilities are excellent, well maintained, and everything worked as it should. The range officers are super helpful and even gave is some shooting tips. Great place, great staff, very fun and safe. I'll be back for sure! read more

I go here on a regular basis staff has always been friendly from spotting for me when sighting in rifles to making sure the clay thrower was full bot one time has the staff acted anything like the claims on these other reviews. The rifle range 100 yards or 50 the handgun range performs flawlessly as far as I could see the 10 times I have been in there the sporting clays are a lot of fun as well as a challenge. I am an experienced rifle and pistol shooter, but this was my first time shooting automatic trap. The employees were extremely helpful and friendly. They even came over and gave us a 10-15 minute lesson on the safety related rules of the range, operation of the thrower, and the general rules of trap. The thrower is voice or button activated. The voice activation worked very well. We shot 6 rounds of 25 targets between the two of us, and only had one target fly unexpectedly. The prices were very reasonable, and even the ammo was cheap. Each round of trap was $7, and a box of target loads was $7 as well. The facilities were clean, and the trap shooting area was nice with ample room between the 8 trap ranges. They also have skeet, double trap, wobble trap, and sporting clays. Next time I go back I'm doing the sporting clays as the course looked really neat. The rental shotguns were CZ over/under's and looked to be in good shape. I can't overstate how great the customer service was. I had a blast and will be back very soon. The location is a slight drawback, but overall I would gladly drive the extra distance considering the excellent attitude of the employees and the facilities available here. read more

Had an amazing time with JR for our ten person bachelor party. I confirmed a little late and JR was able to slot us in for Sunday morning . Despite starting late (100% our fault), JR made sure we had a great experience. We had different levels of experience shooting shotguns but JR was patient with each of us. After each shot, he would tell us exactly what we did wrong and how to do better for our next. We also had a great knock-out competition at the end that was tons of fun. The guns and shells we used were easy to aim and didn't leave a sore shoulder at all. Highly recommend any groups/party ring up this place. read more

We been shooting there about three times. We enjoyed the sporting clays. I did noticed that one of the employees on a golf cart was not too friendly when he said it was almost closing time. I normally have the highest opinion of Colorado Clays. I am hoping that today's experience was a one-time occurrence. I checked in and was told 20-30 minute wait. Understandable due to social distancing. So I didn't mind wait at all. I waited about an hour and fifteen minutes and not a single shooter came out of the pistol range. During my, and others, wait it appeared that the range safety grabbed up a group of regulars or members and walked them in. Quite certain they arrived after me. I can understand giving preference to members or regulars, to some degree. But letting them move ahead of the line and not holding them to the clock was a kick in the shin to the rest of us waiting patiently. Again, hoping this was a one-time occurrence. This was a REALLY fun course to shoot for a charity sporting clays tournament that I attended this week. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the facilities were clean and well kept. Overall really good experience. They had very reliable traps, and the voice activation was decent. The guns they have for rent were not bad at all. We shot 4 rounds total, paid $28 (4x$7) for the trap station, $28 (4x$7) for shells, $25 for a single gun rental. You can share the gun, so if you go with multiple people and don't have your own, you'll only need to pay that once. The place was clean and well kept. There wasn't much ruckus, and seemed like a nice facility. My only complaint is the location -- it's quite a bit farther compared to other places around Denver. Also, the best way there involves E-470, so you have tolls to consider. But if you're in the area, it's an absolute win, no question about it. The price may not be the best, but they also don't have the hassle of memberships or any of that nonsense. If you take your own guns and shells and only pay for the station, it's actually very competitive. read more

I am new to sporting clays but thought it would be fun to bring my new shotgun along on this trip and stop at several sporting clay ranges. The weather has been more than uncoorporative but now I can say I broke clay while it was snowing! The range is beautiful. I'm sure it's even more beautiful when you can see the Rocky Mountains. Also received some coaching/lessons from Terry. I hadn't made an appointment as I as traveling, but they still accomidated me. Terry was terrific. Helped me work on the why and corrected the misses. They don't have instructors on staff, but they do have recommended instructors on their website (http://coloradoclays.com/instruction/). We booked Terry Findley for a bachelor party and had an amazing time; he taught us safety and the basics of shooting, then helped us shoot trap, skeet, and sporting clays, all while having a ton of fun.
