Stopped here while on a winery tour this past weekend. It is a beautiful location! We didn't tasting which you were able to choose 5 wines to try for $15. You let them know your favorite at the end and you get a wine glass charm of that wine. Thought that was a nice touch and you also get to keep your glass (plastic). My favorite was the Riesling! The staff here were so nice and friendly and happy to tell you all about the wines. It was super busy inside and out so it's definitely a popular spot! read more

The most beautiful spot to spend the day! I love the chairs outside, but on a hot day, the wine tasting inside for our large group hit the spot. I am a fan of their wines as well. Some were a bit too fruity, but some were amazing and I am so happy Colorado has stellar wine! Best of all, for a tasting of $35 you get 7 wine samplings AND a glass and wine charm to take home. Fabulous space with delicious wine! They have amazing vineyards and peach garden with breathtaking views. It's a must while on a wine crawl in Palisade. It's more of a self-serve place but sometimes it's really nice to drink wine at your own pace and get another round when you are ready but in 99.9% times you are definitely too lazy to get up while soaking all the beauty around you... Nice setting but on a super hot day like today they could have used more inside seating. We did like that you can take a short walk out to the Colorado River for a spectacular view of the area. Their system for the tasting involves a lot of running back and forth to get each sample. The wine itself was good but I wasn't inspired to buy a bottle. Prices were OK - $15 for 5 samples. This location has a spacious open air indoor area. They have small charcuterie boards and cheese. There is also a covered patio with limited bar stool seating that overlooks the orchard and Grand Mesa. There is a nice trail that you can walk along which brings you to the edge of the property with direct unobstructed views of the Grand Mesa. I love the wine here, and the walk is lovely, but I prefer the seating arrangements at their other colterris property. Overall great spot read more

Went here while vacationing in Colorado visiting family the day after Mother's Day. We did a little Mother's Day wine tasting. We tried going to another place right before but the waiter/ manager was insanely rude and unprofessional we got up and left that establishment before ordering but we came to Colterris and it was the best experience! You walk past orchards then you're greeted by the FRIENDLIEST staff who are so knowledgeable about the wine and are never condescending (I know very little about wine and want to learn more and the woman who helped us was so patient and answered all of our questions) it was just a lot of fun. This winery helped us make some glorious memories. I'll go here every time I go to Colorado for future family visits. Thankful for this place for saving the day and my mom's Mother's Day. read more

Not on our original itinerary, we popped into Colterris while on the windy road through the farm lands. They definitely have ambiance on their side. A lovely outdoor sitting area with views of the grapes and a statute garden. They do charge $2.50/pp for wine tasting and they only have 3 wines, but they also will allow you purchase a glass (for like $8) and sit and soak in the surroundings. I personally loved the white cab sauv and the cab franc (which is just one of faves anywhere). Plus, I loved that you could walk around and see the vineyard, the roses and their cool sculptures. Worth a drive up to the top of the hill. Beautiful area with a great view. Their wines are delicious and even though it's not the cheapest, it's worth it for the money and by far not remotely out of price range. I prefer their sauv Blanc for their white and if you prefer a more buttery flavor I'd recommend the cab. It's a lovely place to sit and relax as opposed to tasting only. It's one of my top three places to go in the Palisades area. It is also very conveniently located to their peach farm that are by far the best in the state! They have the cutest peach trees there and a pathway with a scenic view. They have outdoor and indoor seating. There's 3 tastings for $5 or 7 for $10! I can't think of a better winery in Colorado. (okay, Guy Drew and Boulder Creek are tied for second) I've always had great wines here, and if you're lucky enough to visit when there's produce, so much the better. Oh, and preserves, salsa, etc. Their attempts at Bordeaux-style wines are pretty successful, with decent body, wonderful nose & taste, and a great finish. I came here with a wedding party (7 people). We had been tasting for a couple of hours at various vineyards all throughout Palisade. We came here because my mom is huge fan of Colterris wine and stocks up on her favorites a couple times a year. We came in and there was literally 3 people sitting on the patio and two workers inside. We were welcomed and then the experience turned sour. The guy that works there made sure to let us know in the most derogatory voice that all their wines are dry so we probably won't like them and they don't use any grapes from California Texas or Florida (he didn't know that only two out of the group actually live in Colorado. Two are from California and three from Texas). I decided with those snarky comments I wouldn't be trying their dry wine. My mom asked for their wine list so she could find the one she was looking for. When he handed her the wine list he shows her one page, she flips the page and he says "those are $50 a bottle" and proceeded to turn the page back to the cheaper bottles...after that we walked out. To the owners of Colterris, I want you to know with the help of your rude employee, we went to two other local wineries that were friendly and welcoming and spent over $1,000 a piece on bottle to take home with us. Funny enough, the wine my mom was looking for was the $50 bottle and she was looking to buy two cases....huge loss because now we will never be back and we will be spreading the word about your pretentious employees to all of our friends and family. read more

For me this winery has the best wines in the area but I did not like that the tasting is not free. Not expensive either but you actually pay for your wine tastings which I think takes a little bit of the fun out. Okay, I am unable to explain how dissapointed I am in the experience my family and I had at this winery. I undestand this winery is new, but wow, to start off this poorly is ridiculous. So my family and I were wine tasting in the area and had hit several wineries already. We heard there was a new winery and were eager to see what they had to offer since every other winery in the area is fantastic. We arrive and are greeted by friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere....and thats about it. Since they are new they only have 2 wines to choose from. Well, we all get seated and hear a rather lengthy story about the vineyards and soil and how they traveled the world to find where they wanted to open their winery and blah, blah, blah. We wanted to try some wines and buy them if we liked them, not be bored to death with a 30 minute story. After she tells us this story, we try the two different wines, which were very bland...thats really all there is to say about the wines. Bland. So, we look at the prices for the wines and are disgusted to find these people are priced $5-$7 more than every other winery in the area, and their wine is just AWFUL! So, we decide we don't want to waste money on bland wine. We thank the lady who gave us her life story and we get up to leave. As we are leaving, she calls out to us "oh, by the way its $2 a tasting per person. Didn't the other girl tell you that?" Is that okay?" Well jeez lady, not it isn't okay to tell us you're gonna charge us $2 for 2 sips of wine AFTER we drink them. Every other winery in the area is FREE!!! So we paid these people $12 for the worst 12 sips of wine we have ever had. Should you decide you want to waste money and time on awful wine, this is the place for you! However, if you would like GREAT wine at GREAT prices, you can literally drive down the road in any direction and find it. Skip this place, your money is better spent elsewhere. read more

Of all the vineyards and wineries that we visited, Colterris was my least favorite. Not because they only offered two wines (Desert Sun also only offered two wines was a great experience). Not because their wines were bad. And not (well, sort of) because they charged a $1 fee per 1 oz of wine you tasted (and they only offered two wines) when every one else offered complimentary tastings. It was the entire mood of the place. The young woman who helped us had a flat and uninterested personality. She didn't care if we liked the wine. She didn't care if we liked our visit. She didn't care one iota about anything having to do with us. She didn't talk about the weird fruit store connected to the wine store. She didn't describe either of the wines we inevitably paid for and tasted. She was utterly worthless. My husband and I ended up buying a bottle of the Cabernet Franc to recoup our $4. We would typically buy half a case of wine at each vineyard-- not only to support them, but because we genuinely enjoyed the wine. When I look at the Cab Franc on my wine rack, I scowl. It was a frustrating experience and put a damper on the day. That woman really was a wet blanket. The only cool thing they did was give away American Flag pins on Labor Day. read more

We visited both locations over the weekend and were very pleased by their staff and the quality of their winemaking. They have given careful thought to the variety of grapes they grow and it has produced excellent fruit that comes through unadulterated in their wines. They do charge for their tastings but we never paid because we joined their wine club. Also notable is their customer experience for tastings at the overlook location. When you start, you're given a card for each wine in the flight. You can redeem each card at your own pace and find a spot to sit and enjoy each pour. If you're planning a tour, try to visit when you're pallet is fresh, you won't regret your visit. read more

She seemed perfectly suited to serve upscale wines. She knew everything about them. They were a good place to sit and relax, as not only do they have tastings, but you can order glasses and chill out. They're also one of the places where you can wander around the vineyard a little and they have cool statuary (like a giant steel framed peach called James. Colteris, in my opinion and experience, produces the best wine in the valley, including a Cab, a Cab Franc and a very unique blush wine which is 100% Cabernet grape. It is always one of the first places we take visitors to taste and they are never disappointed. Their sister business is High Country Orchards which grows some of the best peaches in the valley. The orchards and vineyards are beautiful. I tasted 3 wines and the Cabernet Sauvignon Rose was very good. The girl serving it kept calling it a white wine, but technically it is a rose. Wouldn't really recommend the Reds I had, I had a Cabernet Sauvignon full red and it was ok, not the best Cab Sauv I've ever had. One of the most beautiful places in Colorado. Once on property be sure to walk down to the overview above the Colorado river. Not only is the wine amazing there is also the most polite and knowledgeable staff that is there for whatever you need but lets you just enjoy the scenery if that is your mood. All the wineries in Palisade have there own feel and are worth checking out but this one has a great covered patio seating area which is great in case you catch some Colorado afternoon thunderstorms and serves snacks and samples of their jams and salsas on occasion. In the summer months they have a fruit stand which sells their organic produce, picnic items, candy and non alcoholic beverages for all ages. Definitely a must if your are in the area or looking for a new weekend getaway. read more
