We came here today for NYE afternoon and it was so much fun! We sat outside because we had our dog and baby and it was just perfect. They brought us out blankets and turned the heater on, so we were super comfy! This was just a quick stop for us on our drive back to Denver, but we will definitely be back. Mothers day brunch. Service was excellent. Seating was iffy on the rock patio especially for my mother, tables were not stable, high stools shaky in the gravel patio area as well. All the mothers in attendance enjoyed their meals but there were some disappointments, the gnocchi was horrible, undercooked, no flavor and so dense and gummy with whole hazelnuts tossed on like an after thought. The salmon while tasty was not pistachio crusted it had whole unseasoned pistachios piled on top, odd. Thank goodness there was salt and pepper as everything needed seasoning. 1st stop on our winery tour in Palisade! The views were breathtaking and likely the most beautiful of all. It was very hot out so despite the ample seating and beautiful scenery, we grabbed two seats at the bar and ordered a white wine flight and charcuterie board. The wine was a bit sweet, in fact to sweet for us so we opted to move on once done. The charcuterie on the other hand was yummy and a nice size. It was a Friday afternoon and I totally expected it to be more lively but it wasn't. So, picture this - it's Easter Sunday and we decide, on a whim, to drive to Palisade and experience some Colorado wine. Most wineries were closed, understandably, and so, you can imagine how excited we were to discover that Maison la Belle Vie was open! Super, super cute place. I wish it were a bit warmer as we would have been sitting outside. No worries, though, this can be remedied with a return trip in the summer! Inside, there were several areas to sit, including the bar. We choose the bar and ordered two of their wine flights - white (I'm on Cloud Wine) and red (Reserve your Applause for Later). We took home three bottles after falling in love with their Cab Sav, Vin de Noix (a lovely dessert wine that wasn't overwhelmingly sweet) and their Rose. I really enjoyed all the white tasting and had my eye on their Muscat as well. Service was amazing and we spoke with the new owner and learned of her recent decision to purchase the winery from it's original Italian owner. We were also blown away by their Bistro Menu. We choose the Sausage Link platter and immediately wanted more. The bread was soft, tasty and paired beautifully with the two varieties of sausage. The sausages were cooked well, not dry and tasty. And - maybe the star - the variety of mustards. Wow. These made the entire platter shine. We would have happily bought 3 jars of these. So good. If you haven't stopped by Maison - add them to your list when visiting Palisade. You absolutely won't be dissapointed. read more

I'm the world's biggest fan of Schnitzel, and hearing that this place was a German/French-Style of a place, we immediately went. After being sat, I was disappointed with the waiter because he didn't know a lot of the local wines, he didn't have great recommendations, just seemed like he didn't know the menu. However, I was with my Dad so it didn't affect the environment too much. Our Schnitzel and Spatzle arrived, the meat on the Schnitzel was so rubbery and chewy I couldn't even finish it. I moved on to the spatzle which was undercooked and had zero flavor. The ambiance of this place as-well as wine, definitely saved the review from being a one star. They are missing the mark. This vineyard has one of the most beautiful settings in Palisade. We had a severe allergy in the group and the and the staff was amazing to accommodate us. The food was decent, the burgers were over seasoned but the fish was very good and cooked well. The wine is a hit on the sweeter sideburn did like the white blend, it paired well with the fish. This was our first time dining at Maison at the conclusion of our wine tasting in Palisade. Jeremy kindly stayed and cooked for us as we were running a few minutes late from our scheduled time. Monica took great care of us. The scenery was beautiful and the weather was perfect despite the high temperatures during the day. We highly recommend the Waldorf Chicken Salad sandwich! We shared the sausage plate, baked Brie and Mediterranean quesadillas and enjoyed it all. I was hesitant about Mediterranean Quesadillas, (what in the world is that???) and was delighted once I tasted! We ordered the suggested wine pairings which were an excellent recommendation. Food was limited. Service was slow to poor. Wine was OK. I asked server if the white blend was dry. She responded it was rather bland and did offer a taste. When it comes to ambience, I have to vote for this place as No. 1 out of all 11 vineyards/wineries I had a pleasure of visiting during my quick two-night stay in Palisade/Powderhorn area this week. To quickly epitomize my visit at Maison... Flight #1 (You had me at Merlot) - I enjoyed this one tremendously! I was willing to pay for the full $16 price even though I kindly asked the lady to pour half of the regular pour size for each. Even though I wasn't looking to get any sort of discount, she gave me 25% discount on it. How nice of her! Indoor tasting area - is not necessarily huge but it's got a great ambiance. The temperature outside in Palisade was in its mid-90's (at the tome of visit) in the early afternoon hours. Although the shaded/covered patio seating outside was as cute as the inside, I simply needed to escape the heat so I chose inside. Food to eat - unlike other vineyards/wineries where they only serve wines (plus they might have a food truck outside), this place serves food like a restaurant. And the menu has a good variety. When the salmon salad caught my attention, I had to order it (for later as late lunch or early dinner in my hotel room.) I was pretty impressed with the salmon when I ate it later in early evening. A group of people came and sat at the same (big/long) table with me where the gentleman in the group said his wife works at this winery as a chef in the kitchen. I later saw her as she came out from the back when she and her husband were chatting a bit. A big compliment to her for the wonderful salmon salad!! Merchandise - they do have very cute swag especially the t-shirts. They were around $21 (not bad at all!) The print on each design is so adorable; should have taken a picture of it. I got a few (rubber) coasters (black and wine red); they are also glass covers so they serve two purposes! Would be a great gift for wine loving family/friends. Airbnb - the property right next to the winery is Airbnb and it's got a pond and yard to walk around and enjoy. And a nice outdoor seating area just front of the property is so picturesque. Probably the prettiest ambiance of all the wineries in Palisade, with a cute little patio under shady overhangs. Also delicious food, including some amazing salami and cheese platters. Why 4 stars and not 5? You can only choose from 3 pre-set tastings or order by the glass (you can't just pick what wines you want to taste from a list of all wines, like most wineries do). There are also 1-2 white wines, and 99% of the menu is red. I prefer more of a variety, especially in the summer. read more

We've been frequenting Palisade lately and this is one of our favorite wineries. They have a beautiful patio that feels as cozy and comfy as sitting in a friend's backyard. Our servers have always been extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about wine. They never leave any question unanswered. I've gotten two flights here, the Merlot and pick your own, and their reds are packed with flavor. They also have some that are especially on the dry side which is right up my alley. I also appreciate that their food menu has more of a snack menu that goes perfectly with casually drinking wine. We've tried two different macaron flavors, chocolate and honey goat cheese, and dare I say the honey goat cheese might've been the best macaron I've ever had. If you stop by, be sure to not skip out on dessert! Fun side note, the owner has chickens on the property and if you're lucky you might see them cluckin around. :) read more

First impression - very pricey compared to other wineries in the area. $16-$19 for a tasting of four wines. The pours were not bigger than other wineries and the wines were not markedly better. They do have a nice outside area though we opted to go inside since it was so stinking hot outside and also the outside area was jammed. The staff said they were surprised to be so slammed on a Sunday but it was a holiday weekend. Service was a bit slow because of this but no big deal. My wife and I attended a much anticipated "gourmet" dinner last June at Maison La Belle Vie. The tickets were approximately $120 p/p and included pairing of complimentary wines. Please understand that both of us have been in the hospitality industry our entire lives and these types of events are by no means foreign to us. I am a trained chef - owned/operated a catering company for close to 20 years - worked for San Francisco's premier caterer for 20 years - involved with many No CA wineries since 1999. What we experienced in June was a sincere disappointment for our newfound home of the Grand valley. Menu as stated: Amuse Bouche - Provencal Stuffed Apricot with Lavender Chevre 1st Course - Fennel, Rocket, and Grapefruit Salad with Lavender Balsamic Vinaigrette The meal was actually progressing nicely until the service of the pasta dish. I'm not certain if it was intentionally planned but the ravioli was cold .. not lukewarm but cold .. very unappetizing. Normally meals like this appear as crescendoes of color - creativeness - and taste. The attempt for this dish was very lacking. 2nd Course - House Made Lavender Spiced Ravioli No every now and again a venue shoots a blank - a bad decision made weeks prior - then the process went awry - these things happen - I can forgive and forget. Now I am anxiously awaiting the main meal presentation - thinking with this course our chef(s) will redeem themselves 3rd Course - Poulet Au Citron Et Lavande (Chicken with lemon and lavender), Asparagus and Carrot Puree what a disappointment! We were greeted by two chicken legs .. this was a meal which we spent over $100 per person .. this meal was also lacking in serving temperature .. it was very hard to appreciate the effort the kitchen must have undertaken .. difficult to mask my displeasure as to what I was expecting as to the culmination of a winemakers dinner .. 4th Course - Lavender Panna Cotta the dessert was the best part of the meal .. the accompanying wine was very good .. All in all I would rate the event as: Property-decor- service = B Preparation-execution = D Beverages- wines = B Overall Grade = C hopefully someone at the winery will peruse my rant and not take exception to my review - but use my criticism positively going forward ... read more

This is a great spot to stop and enjoy food and some shade. They offer wine flights but unfortunately when we were there they were out of one white and one port (which left only one of each to choose from). We had the burrata salad plate and macaroons which was fine, but nothing I would return solely to eat. The wine, however, was excellent. After a long day outside I appreciated being able to sit in the shade. Our server was incredibly considerate and offered to move us into shaded areas, not once, but twice when she saw the sun beating down on us. Come for the wine. It really is great. More than 5 reds, rose, multiple whites... and the wine slushies are just the thing on a hot day. But the food takes it over the top. Bacon wrapped avocado slices!? Were phenomenal! We came during peach season... and the creative ways they roasted peaches in the appetizers... to the homemade peach sauces on halibut... and pork chops, made it amazing, and gave us ideas on what to try in our kitchen at home!
