Went on a Saturday night to celebrate my father's 80th birthday (at his request) The restaurant was beyond filthy, we had the worst service. Our server was probably the most unfriendly person I've ever encountered in a service position. This server was incredibly unprofessional when we asked about deficiencies on what we were served vs what was received. Dream Girl and I took Sis to Colton's for a birthday dinner. She had heard it recommended and wanted to try it. We were lucky as we got there just before a lot of people showed up. We were seated in a large booth at once. A few minutes later I went to the car for a minute and was amazed at the people waiting. Our server was Crystal, and she was attentive and got our orders as soon as we had looked over the many items on the menu. I had chicken fried steak (white gravy with just the right amount of pepper) and with a good orange, strawberry, pecan, and lettuce salad. The others had shrimp (one fried and one grilled). We had two iced teas and a vodka tonic which I was told was just fine. The iced tea was good, too. No desserts as we were too full and had to ask for go boxes. I checked out the men's room and it was clean and had soap and towels. We heard two other tables receive the birthday greetings - pretty loud and much clapping. Sis and I never tell a restaurant about a birthday celebration as they are usually pretty goofy; this one met that definition, but we had said nothing. Dinner as described was $59 plus a tip. While in Dickson for business we had a business lunch here and were seated in the bar area. The place looks like any other, popular chain steak joint. The menu resembles that too. I chose their chicken fried chicken with white gravy and a side salad to start. The salad was just OK; the lettuce was straight from a bag, you could totally taste that. The chicken was awesome! On my way to Knoxville I decided to stop at Colton's Steakhouse in Dickson. Very nice place with parking lot and wild western interior vibe. Washrooms for cowboys and cowgirls. Dead animals on the walls. Ordered Cesar salad and Ribeye Steak. Caesar salad was little bit salty. The waitress was very forgetful and didn't remember things we ordered. The tea was really odd tasting had to swap it out. This place has taken a nose dive on service and speed in the kitchen. Food finally came but no silverware, guess we are eating caveman style today. The mashed potatoes were cold and had a dirt taste to them something was off with them like extra grittiness. the salad didn't feel as fresh and crisp and everything else that we had wasn't anything to write home about. I called for a to-go order. I have food sensitivities, so I was very specific in how I wanted my food prepared. The young lady said it would be ready in fifteen to twenty minutes. It was almost exactly fifteen. I didn't have anything fancy, just a burger and sweet potato, but everything was prepared exactly as I asked and tasted great! We went to celebrate my daughter receiving her black belt in Taekwondo. The decor was pretty cool. I had a strawberry pecan salad with feta cheese, a bit too much feta, but good. I also had Hawaiian chicken which was tasty. My daughter had steak, shrimp in a bed of rice, Mac n cheese, and potatoes. The steak was not medium as it should have been. The shrimp were great. The potatoes were bland. The Mac n cheese was not good at all, bland and not very cheesy. My friend got the chicken Caesar salad, she did not have enough Romaine lettuce and when she asked for more they gave her ice berg. She was not impressed. Finally our server was over worked. She brought us everything we needed but I had to ask for every little thing, and she was slow. Had my first really bad experience here this evening. First, I asked for a certain server. The hostess told her partner which table to take me to. The table was serviced by someone other than who I had requested. (Maybe she's off tonight.) After I ordered, I saw my requested go into the kitchen. Strike one, didn't get the server I wanted. Now, as to the server I did have. Suffice to say, Cole is not even on the running for server of the year, at least not in my opinion. First, I asked for no tomato on my salad, but, when he brought it, there they were. When I pointed this out, he took it back, but with a sigh of disgust. I had ordered the queso dip for an appetizer. Another server brought it out, to the wrong table, and took it back. Cole comes almost running to my table, asked if I had ordered that. I was told, by Cole,, "that's what he just brought out." I advised him that the server did not come to my table with anything. When the entre arrived, all of it was just the way I had ordered. Totally enjoyed it, even though I had no drink for the last half. The reason for this, Cole didn't ask if I wanted more. To top it all off, a manager picked up the final dishes from my table. He asked how everything was and I told him the food was great but the service sucked. He asked who my server was and I showed him my ticket. He acknowledged that he saw it and proceeded to walk away. Ordered a $33 16oz ribeye. Ordered it medium rare, was cooked medium well, steak was very tough, dry and didn't have much flavor. Very, very let down for a $33 dollar steak. Even got my drink order wrong, Waitress ( had zero personality and got other simple requests wrong. My family and I spent a couple of nights in Dickson last weekend, the first night eating at Cracker Barrel for its convenience and proximity to our hotel. It was typical CB, the same as any other CB anywhere else in the country. But it was satisfying, and as usual, we felt that it was well worth the cost. Our second night in town we wanted something other than CB menu, and after searching long, we decided to give this steakhouse a try. It would have been better had we just gone to CB for more of the usual. My wife had the Salmon, which she said tasted "peculiar." Unable to finish it, she left nearly half of it uneaten. My oldest daughter had BBQ ribs that she thought were tough and not thoroughly cooked. My youngest daughter had the Catfish, but was unable to eat more than one piece. She said that it "just didn't taste good to her." I had the Country Fried Steak which appeared to be old and previously cooked and merely reheated in the microwave. The side dish of green beans was stringy, crunchy and dry. The price for all this unappetizing meal was well beyond what we would have paid had we gone to CB, so we were disappointed in that aspect of our choice as well. The exterior of the restaurant was inviting and the interior was typical to what one would expect for a steakhouse. We entered with high hopes, but left in disappointment. read more

Better than any chain steak house I've been to. Their onion blossom is ten times better than Outback. Their steaks aren't over seasoned and are always cooked right. The service can be a little hit or miss sometimes, but this will always be my go to. read more
