Food was great. I would have given it a 5 but we like to eat at the bar to not have to put up with unruly kids and crying babies. But at the dickson location we had to endure kids and babies at 3 of the tables in the bar area. No bar area in any restaurant should allow fricking kids and babies crying. If you go in with the expectation at it's a chain steakhouse then it will at minimum meet your expectations. Good steak, baked potatoes, pork chops, burgers. I've not had anything I wouldn't eat again. We eat here at least once a month! I like it better than all the other chains. read more

The hostess was not terribly friendly, but otherwise good service, and the place was not terribly clean,either....I wouldn't go so far as to call Colton's floors filthy, but they were definitely dirty, or at least, they were when we visited a few weeks ago. I had the porterhouse steak, my wife had their signature cheese and mushrooms grilled chicken dish, "Loaded Chicken", and we had a variety of sides. The salad was fresh, and about what you would expect from a chain steak place. The sides were all acceptable, nothing special, but we were satisfied. The complimentary rolls were good, reminiscent of the "big fat yeast roll" craze of the 90's. The steak was somewhere just above Shoney's in quality...edible, but not terribly good. "Loaded chicken" was okay, but probably consisted of no ingredients other than canned mushrooms, diced onions, bacon bits, a pile of off-brand grated cheese, and a Lawry's-type seasoning mix---probably would be an excellent pairing with Lipton Onion Soup Mix-topped green bean and cream of mushroom soup casserole. Overall, about what we expected. Colton's is a lower-tier family friendly restaurant where you can get a moderately overpriced uninspiring meal with pretty good service. If you set your steak quality expectations to "Shoney's level", you will be satisfied, otherwise, you will be disappointed. read more

Went for lunch today. It wasn't busy. Ordered chopped steak and mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese with green beans. Ordered the chopped steak well and it was pink. My husband and I have been wanting to eat here for a couple of months. I've been telling him that "they always have a packed parking lot, so it MUST be good." So, we stopped in on a Saturday and tried it. I wasn't impressed with the service or cleanliness of the establishment. Colton's is really well decorated. Being a steakhouse, it has a western theme, and I was really excited as we walked into the restaurant--pictures of people "peeping" from the upstairs outside windows, western pictures and items hanging everywhere. We were seated, and my impressions turned to the worse when I saw the floor. Like Texas Roadhouse, Colton's lets you toss your empty peanut shells on the floor. But what made me cringe was what I saw on the floor with the peanuts-- silverware, napkins, sugar packets, coasters, and chunks of rolls and entree food. I brought this to the attention of the person who sat us, and she had a nonchalant attitude about it, telling me, "Well, we let people drop peanuts on the floor; so we don't worry about the other stuff on the floor." And then after I sat down, I realized that not only was there food and trash on the floor, but there were also bits of food on the seat of my chair!!! We ordered our drinks. I asked for water with a lemon and was told that they were out of lemons. We looked at the menu and ordered. My husband ordered the smoked sirloin, and I ordered the blackened salmon. When our entrees were brought, there was a lemon. A lemon. Yes, you read that correctly--they brought me a lemon! I asked for lemon with my water and was told they were out, and yet they served my dish with a lemon??? My husband was given a refill of his sweet tea, but I was ignored throughout the meal and never received a refill of my water. My husband said his steak was good, although he couldn't taste any "smoke" to it. It wasn't super stellar to him, but it was good. He especially enjoyed the cup of beef broth served on the side. His steak wasn't dry, but he guessed the broth was served with the steak "just in case" it was dry. He also enjoyed the horseradish served on the side, and said the corn on the cob was really sweet. My blackened salmon was definitely blackened on the bottom... it had quite a charcoal going on which made it taste burnt. I flaked it away from the bottom and it was just fine---it was moist, juicy, and had a strong salmon taste. It was served with some kind of delicious onion-based dip. My side dish of steamed veggies was rather disappointing. I counted two baby carrots and two pieces of cauliflower amid an ocean of broccoli. The vegetables were steamed until they were done, but they didn't have any seasonings whatsoever on them and were rather bland. I ended up dipping them in the onion-based side sauce, and they were more enjoyable. Our dishes were also served with rolls, much like O'Charley's. They were good, and they came with a really nice honey-butter spread. We got our bill, and my husband put his credit card in the folder.... it was twenty minutes or more before the waitress came and picked up the payment. To me, it was torture. Twenty more minutes of looking at food and crap on the floor and watching peanuts fall from the hands of those seated around us. The food was average, nothing to praise, which was a little disappointing considering how much this meal cost my husband. The service was horrible, and sitting amid non-peanut food all over the floor made me feel like I was sitting in a health-violation. I really don't want to go back. Vegetarians BEWARE there was NOT one measly vegetarian dish on the menu...except for the side dish of bland, steamed veggies. We celebrated our anniversary last night. Had the greatest waitress!! She was the bomb she came out after dinner with complimentary sundae for us and had the room wish us the best! I recently went here with a friend and throughout the whole dinner we could not stop talking about how great the whole experience was. The staff was wonderful! we were seated almost immediately and taken care of very quickly and our waitress was extremely observant with refills. While we waited for our food we got to focus on the funky decor more and we enjoyed getting to spot all of the random items. When our food came we both couldn't believe how good it was. I ordered green beans as a side because I panicked but when I tasted one they were beyond delicious and honestly the best i've ever tasted. Once we were done eating the manager stopped by our table and made sure that we had a nice dining experience which was extremely kind and on our way out we noticed that they were so strategic with their seating to the point where we felt like we were the only ones in the restaurant. When we got up to leave we noticed how they made sure to seat everyone at a comfortable distance while they still had the space to so that everyone could enjoy a nice dinner and focus on the people that they came with which was a really nice touch. 10/10!! we'll be back for sure! read more

My girlfriend and i went for our 1st time.we ordered the loaded chicken breast and 6oz sirlion, baked sweet potato, loaded smashed potatoes to share and 2 side salads.salads were fresh and dressing was high quality.we both liked how much flavor was packed into potatoe dishes.both meats were good.especially the FLAVORING from the seasoning and grill. I don't eat here very often, and I called a curbside order this past Sunday. It was a simple process and the food was delicious. I had the Hawaiian grilled chicken (without the rice), side salad, and plain baked sweet potato. The service was amazing. They asked me what car I was driving and when I couldn't find my car keys, I had to call them back and let them know I'd be in a different vehicle and they took that change with ease. Traveling through on I-40 and decided to try Colton's- glad we did! Rustic and cowboy decor which is fun. The wait staff are very friendly and informative. I enjoyed the grilled sirloin steak salad and it was prepared perfectly. The lettuce was very fresh and tasty. My wife enjoyed The sirloin steak and she loved it. This has got to be the worst food I've ever ate in Tennessee. Food... I had the Baked Potato Soup. Tasted like Country Gravy with a tiny bit of Bacon bits and cheese. Very Salty! Del Rio Ribeye was over cooked(asked for Medium Rare. Got well done.) Service... HORRIBLE! Never given our drinks or rolls by our server. We had to ask the bus person for our drinks and rolls. Our waitress came by one time before we called it quits. We could not even finish our food due to the bad taste. O'Charleys is next to it. Go there. Much better food and service. This is a fantastic place to have dinner was visiting the area and decided to try out colton's and upon entering you noticed a very friendly atmosphere, I ordered the sirloin and ribs with mac and cheese which was the best I've had at a restaurant by far the ribs were falling off the bone and the sirloin was good so much to perfection that I cut it with a fork and the macaroni and cheese was incredible with 4 cheeses and the fried pickles were the best I've ever had and make sure that you ask for Christian she was the best server that I have had in a while and very polite read more

My first time here ... I ordered the ribs (full rack). If I do choose to come back here, I would never order the ribs again. I'm sorry that I didn't take a picture of them for the review. To start the ribs was maybe 1/2 inch thick at best. They came two small racks (if you could call them that). One was laying across the other with BBQ sauce just poured on top of them. 1st time at a Colton's, and it was really good. I had the 12oz ribeye and loaded smashed potatoes. The ribeye was very flavorful and the potatoes were a nice change from a baked potato. They just opened so as expected they were extremely slow. I ordered a porterhouse and after an hour wait I got a very thin T-bone. Turns out even though the menu states porterhouse $$$ they pass off a T-bone as one. So they actually don't have a porterhouse. They offered me a new steak but I was starving. My wife's steak was a FM and was good. They need to fix their menu or get the right cut. Stop advertising something you don't serve...ugh! Everything else was fine. Average steak! I admit I am extremely picky about my steak. I want my steak to be tender and cooked with a bit of pink in the middle which is usually medium. A steak house should be able to pull that off right? Not here. I ordered the filet which was wrapped in bacon. The steak wasn't horrible but I've had a lot better at some of the larger chain restaurants. The filet was medium cooked but not at all as tender as one should be. I had such high hopes for this restaurant. There are so few choices in this area. I hope to return next time we are in the area to try something other than the steak. The service was ok. Charged extra for EVERY little thing. Even .30 every time we got a coke refill because it had grenadine in it. No other restaurant has EVER charged for it. My wife and I just tried Colton's for the first time. I would definitely NOT recommend this place. We started off with 2 sodas and their onion blossom, which was pretty good, and then ordered our entrees. I had the ribs and catfish platter with salad and fries. The salad was Luke warm and the ranch dressing tasted and had a consistency like they had cut it 50/50 with skim milk. The catfish was inedible, I could not even stomach a second bite. The ribs lacked any decent seasoning and tasted very piggy. The coleslaw tasted like it had been sitting on the counter since the Nigh before. The fries were thick cut steakhouse style and were okay. My wife had a del Rio seasoned ribeye which sounded amazing. What she got was a moderately seasoned and barely adequately cooked steak that was just "okay." they did not include the del Rio seasoned butter that was advertised and the steak itself was a bit tough and overcooked. Neither of our entrees came with the advertised biscuits either. The restaurant itself had a nice atmosphere and seemed neat and clean. We did not check out the restrooms. Overall, think of it as very, VERY poorly executed Applebee's that is incredibly overpriced. Our meal was $65 including a $10 tip since our waitress was friendly and overall attentive. read more

It was only my second time going there. The first time was amazing, this time not so much. I'm a pretty understanding person but I have low tolerance when it comes to my food. Especially if we are spending over a hundred dollars for the two of us. I actually had to get up and walk halfway into the kitchen to get ranch that was forgotten about. I was told our app was going to be out in three minutes when it was closer to fifteen. Not a real big deal but I literally had time to eat two cheese sticks before here they came with the main course. The steak which was a ribeye was requested to be medium and it was literally well done. The potato literally had about a nickel sized amount of bacon on it.
