Overall its a good place to stay. We started off a little rough due to them not having our forms ready when we arrived late night. Another camper had a similar issue even though we payed in advance. We stayed for nearly a month. The park itself is clean, it had a mini gym with a few machines and equipment. The gym has restrooms and a kitchen (along with a table with free items). The restrooms and showers are clean. The dog parks were far (one across the street from the park as you enter and one way across the site) so we didnt use them. Areas dont have any benches and the grass was extremely dry since they dont water it (almost like hay like since it was dry). We watered our grass and it begun to grow, but they never cut the grass. The office staff were helpful and addressed any concerns immediately. Some days they were friendly and other days they seemed bothered. Nothing for children. In the guidelines it stated children may not play in roads (many cars drive fast so I see why as it's a safety concern) Dumpsters are clean and get picked up often. Different dumpsters around the entire part. There is a restaurant at the boat doc that had great food and service (other places in Portland disappointed us). Downtown Portland is rough. A lot of homelessness and drug addicts. We had witnessed a man on drugs what appeared to be dragging a dead body in a sleeping bag. Definitely don't want to be downtown when it starts to get dark. Locals said it was the norm to see homeless people dead on sidewalks in sleeping bags. Close to the Washington border, however traffic on the bridge is crazy! Not at all what we expected. We did expect it to be a bit nicer and greener! The lawn areas around the sites could be greener and the sites are a bit too close to each other. Hence the 4 stars instead of 5. I did give the lady in the office feedback but she didn't seem too interested. However, I must say the park is kept clean. Close to a great bike trail along the Columbia River. Even though it is close to the airport, the noise wasn't bad at all. read more

We stayed a few nights and it was great. Quiet and clean. Conveniently located to downtown Portland.

Restrooms are clean. RV neighborhood is crowded, lots of cars & noisy. Planes taking off overhead makes it less than tranquil. Looks like permanent residents are required to mow their own very small patches of grass. So there are some with weeds. I would not recommend for dogs or young kids. read more

Spaces are pretty close together, having said that I would definitely stay here again. It's very clean and quiet, and there were not a lot of shabby long-term RVs like you find in some RV parks. I felt very safe . There was a great dog park as well, which is always a plus in my book! read more

Come on people! If you are going to leave a review, review the right park! Most of these negative reviews I am seeing are based on the Janten Beach RV Park in North Portland, just off I-5 and the Interstate Bridge! We have stayed at that park many times because we have family in Vancouver. THEY are in the flight path of PDX, have Air National Guard jets flying over, truck and train noise, and some homeless issues on the Island (which has gotten MUCH better, as of July 2024). We haven't t stayed at the Columbia River Park, but are considering it in the future. 5 stars to Columbia River RV Park to help offset the reviews posted for the wrong park! read more

Close to downtown. One of the nicer looking parks I've started in. All the amenities as described in their ads. Staff friendly and helpful.

There is nothing of interest, nothing beautiful to see nor are accommodations that great. Customer service with this park sucks. Last day here 106 outside, electricity goes out, 98 inside our RV. ABSOLUTELY no communication from park with any sort of status as to when electricity may return. Been sitting in our truck with air conditioner on for 2 hours. No one has answered the phone when we started calling at 4pm. Horrible way to treat your customers. DO BETTER.!!!' I'm so stinking angry. read more

Lived here 6months and have had a wonderful experience with the staff, neighbors and ease of location. Airplanes and trucks can be loud! Expect the national guard fighter jets at 12:30pm daily. Besides that all around recommended for anyone looking to stay short or long term. Clean restroom in Public bathhouse. Stayed at this rv park for about 5 months, I never had any issues with it. It was kept clean for the most part, you do hear planes, trains and automobiles . But I really don't care doesn't bother me. (By planes, this also includes fighter Jets that will zip by one after another) now that can be extremely loud, but I enjoyed running outside and watching them fly by. The park itself is pretty boring. We were there during the winter months so maybe more people come out and about during the other times of the year. But there's no pool which we are used to at other spots, no playground. The reck room is pretty sad. A lot of full timers in the park but met a good amount of great people in there. Everyone seems pretty friendly. Laundry room is good, kept clean. Non of the washers/dryers ever ruined my clothes but I did have an incident where the washer ate all my quarters, and I wasn't given a refund. That I didn't like, almost $5 down the drain. To get to the park you do run into homeless camps, but that's pretty much the area. Never had too much of a problem with homeless. We kept all things like bikes generator etc inside the trailer Which we never do at other camp sites, due to theft that happens. But for the most part didn't see homeless, maybe occasionally coming in at night to look for cans in the trash. I didn't have a problem with this spot and I was there all day while husband was at work. I never felt unsafe it could just use some TLC in making it more enjoyable/fun. read more

We stayed here for the week of Thanksgiving. Nice, clean park. There are a lot of permanent residents here, but they all keep their spaces neat and tidy. The staff was super nice, among the friendliest we've ever encountered on our many journeys. We will definitely stay here again when we come up next time. The last only complaint I have is the sound of the airplanes. For the most part, the noise wasn't too bad, but there were a few times that the planes woke us from a deep sleep. read more

I guess we are slow learners. This is our third stay at this RV park and it will definitely be our last. This time they put us in the farthest section which is so tight we could barely get in here, let alone park our vehicle. We are backed up to a block wall that has 24 hour semi truck traffic behind it. Couple that with all day long airplane noise and you get the picture. There is no grass in this section. As in the previous visits the Wi-Fi is spotty and kicks you off regularly. The only thing going for this park is the location. You are just across the bridge from Vancouver, Washington and close to all Portland has to offer. It's just not worth it in our opinion though. read more

I gave this a generous 2 star. Driving to this location you will be greeted by the multitude of homeless encampments. The grounds were average and the rv pull through spaces were easy to maneuver. The WiFi wasn't useful because we could not connect..frustrating . The public restrooms were being utilized by the possible homeless that were camped outside the perimeter. There are many full time residents that leave their junk outside their rv's. Management should have stricter rules to keep this park clean. I did not feel comfortable walking my normal 3-5 miles, which is why I gave it a 2. I wouldn't recommend this place and wouldn't stay here again. read more

Disappointed in the lack of professionalism and safety at this park. Our travel was disrupted by ice storms 100 miles south of Portland days before and we needed a place to pull in for the night. I called in the morning to reserve a site, and I asked about the weather conditions -- they said "some ice, but it's raining and melting." When we pulled in at 3:30 pm, the park was in very poor condition and the thick sheet of ice completely covering our site was so thick we couldn't walk on it at all. It would have been impossible to stabilize our rig, walk to the bathroom or safely hook up - even driving across the site to exit, the trailer was slipping. I called the office immediately and told them we were leaving, and of course, our camping fee was non-refundable. In my opinion, a park has a responsibility to ensure sites are safe -- they made no attempt to salt or sand the site, even though they knew we were coming since the morning. At a minimum, given we were traveling over 200 miles, and not knowing the local conditions, the office should have warned me about the extreme ice coverage on the pads, so we could have made an informed decision about making the reservation to begin with. read more

I'm so disappointed. I called to ask for a monthly reservation and they said they absolutely will not accept reservations for an RV that is older than 10 years for monthly stays or longer. I understand not wanting a bunch of run-down broken RV's on the property, but my RV is in EXCELLENT condition (see picture) and I offered to send pictures to confirm its condition and they wouldn't budge and wouldn't bother to allow me to send a picture. That sort of rigidity in the operation of a business is terrible for customer service. I'll take my money elsewhere. read more

Really nice campground close to the city and right off the river with nice and well maintained facilities. This place has definitely been around a while but the staff were friendly and I have no complaints other than it's proximity to the airport flight paths. The planes can be a bit loud during the day but it's pretty quite at night. Overall, would definitely come back! read more

There is hardly ever anyone in the office. Even during business hours, we frequently found a "we're out in the park, but will be back soon" sign on the door. They got our reservation wrong and insisted that it was our fault, not theirs...so much for the customer is always right. Then, despite being given 2 weeks notice and an offer to provide medical proof, they refused to refund us any money when we had to leave a week early for a medical emergency. Overall, the staff is obviously overworked, stressed and not interested in providing basic customer service. I gave them 2 stars for the location - it is a short drive to Downtown Portland. If you stay here, make sure to get a confirmation email of your reservation and don't expect help from the office!! read more

The staff are not friendly. The sites are concrete slabs with few trees and no ambience. The Wi-Fi is very poor. The name is deceiving as it is not on the river but a healthy hike to the river across a busy road. The price is not competitive and they advertise they give good Sam discounts the very rude staff wouldn't give us a refund on the full price we paid when we reserved our spot. I gave it a 3 because the water, electric and sewage worked fine and our concrete slab was level. Probably will not stay here again. read more

We checked out their website (beware there are several of them for this rv park...I found two) which showed pictures from 50+ years ago depicting the park as being a beautiful rv park with a gorgeous beach, a grassy area in front of the river and a bench to sit on and enjoy the views. There were photos of the sites with nice green grass and patios and a photo of a over-sized chess board. It also showed the rv park surrounded by lovely farmlands. Ha! All of it is a lie. The rv park is actually across the street from the river and there is no access to any beach in front of or near the rv park, period. It is also a few miles from the airport so you can enjoy the take off and landings of every single plane that comes into Portland and the train tracks are not too far away either. Chugga-chugga! Choo-choo! Plus you have the added bonus of the homeless people all around the park living in tents. When you arrive you will be greeted by a lovely young woman who is all smiles and kindness and then they photo copy your driver's license and insurance (strange custom I've never experienced) and then tell you there are absolutely NO refunds. Surprise Surprise! DO NOT STAY HERE! These people are modern day grifters with no class whatsoever! Beware false advertising and super bad karma! My husband and I were taking a roadtrip through Oregon. We had originally booked a reservation with The Janzton Beach Resort. Upon arriving there we decided not to stay. The park is mixed in with modular homes from the 60s , falling apart and homeless and what appeared to be drug inflicted people were walking around peering into vehicles. Not safe. Last minute and after hours I called the Colombia River resort. To my surprise there was an answer. No spaces available for the night I mentioned our situation and they were so kind that they allow us to dry camp until the following day. Next day they reserved on of the pull through sites. Easy access for our motorhome and trailer. Nice clean facilities. Very clean grounds with cement slabs and green grass. The entire staff was kind and extremely personable. I could not speak highly enough of how sweet everyone was. read more

There is a sign posted by a resident looking for information regarding their stolen RV. We locked everything up which we usually don't do. We didn't feel totally safe. NICE ENOUGH PARK BUT: - OUR SPOT SMELLED LIKE SEWER - THE MANAGEMENT DIDN'T CARE - AS NOTED BY OTHER REVIEWERS THE GUY AT THE FRONT DESK IS SNOOTY. However, the two ladies who work the front desk were nice. My girlfriend and I stayed at Columbia River RV Park for 7 days. The park was full. I wouldn't say this park is great, but it's not bad either. Everything was fairly clean: the bathroom were clean enough, the lawn between the RV spots was kept nice enough. What ruined our experience was: (1) an awful sewage smell coming from the spot next to us (2) the snooty and indifferent attitude of the front desk guy (the one who works weekends). When the sewage smell issue was brought to the front desk guy's attention he acknowledged the issue and said: "THIS IS AN RV PARK, IT COMES WITH THE TERRITORY" (I am not paraphrasing, I am quoting word for word). When we asked if we could speak to the management he said: "THIS DOESN'T SEEM LIKE A PRIORITY TO ME, I AM NOT WILLING TO CALL THE MANAGER" (This is also not a paraphrase but exactly what he said). 5 days into our 7 day stay, the smell issue was taken care of. It turns out our neighbor had a leak in his sewage pipe. But I cannot believe how indifferent the front office was to this issue and I canot believe how we were talked to. And of course we were not offered any compensation for our misfortune. I hope this review helps. read more

It isn't if you will have a bad experience at this place, it is when. Full disclosure, my husband and I have stayed in this RV park several times since we went full time. We travel around and have need to be near Portland often and this was a place we used to return to (despite the tiny spaces and the time we stayed in a spot that was surrounded by thick mud that ruined our carpets) if we had no other better choices. Until this last time... My husband arrived to check in and was told that he needed proof of insurance. Good and fine, obviously we have insurance. He was able to show them electronic proof (which is good enough for every other organization) and they claimed they needed a physical copy. They ultimately turned him away, claiming it was because my name was on the reservation (it wasn't). But then they had the nerve to say that they would be charging US a cancellation fee and they would be keeping our reservation fee. This place is not a home, it isn't friendly, welcoming or inviting. It is overpriced for the amenities they provide (laundry, cable, crappy wifi that we never were able to connect to and guest bathrooms). The only thing that will keep this place going is their location. If you're passing through and just need a night (and don't mind planes flying over head at all hours from the international airport a few miles away) it will probably be fine. The pet spaces are a joke. Two fenced in areas on either side of the extremely large park. That wouldn't be so bad if there weren't signs EVERYWHERE expressly forbidding guests from allowing their dogs to potty anywhere but in the pet spaces. And I am the dope following the rules which means we end up running to the pet spaces to keep from breaking them. Thankfully I am able to run when so many that stay there aren't. I'm not sure what they do. That is another thing, there are signs everywhere. I understand these long term places can attract certain types of people, but it is impossible to turn your head at this place without seeing a sign telling you not do something. I felt like I had to walk on eggshells during our stays and would not be able to honestly say this place is pet friendly, veteran friendly, or family friendly. I honestly cannot believe that this park is endorsed by the Good Sam club, of which we are members, and hope they raise their standards. read more

Good stop for a short stay on the north side of Portland. It does get a bit crowded and people are packed in there pretty well. Also, there is a considerable amount of airplane noise as the park is right under approach. You definitely know when the military jets are landing! The woman that manages the place is very sweet and very helpful. So, they get an extra star just because of her. The park is clean, well kept and very convenient. We only stayed two days till we decided to head out to Fairview as the park did not have any monthly spots available. If you want to stay for an extended period, better make your reservations early! We camped here in a motorhome. We'd go back if we need a night or two close to I-5. read more

Bizarre reviews for this place, but it is a bizarre place. Essentially a big parking lot with showers and restrooms a long ways away if you're given space 155. By the river, but you'd never know it, except for a few spots. We've been here for 3 days and seen.... maybe 8 people? What are the rest of them doing? That'd be anybody's guess. Clean, quiet, (unless planes taking off every 5 minutes is not your idea of quiet) I'd give it 3 stars, but here's the thing, our wi-fi was blazingly fast, so we bumped it up a star. I'm writing this review based on not ever having stayed here. My parents stay here in their RV when they're in town. Since they work here 4-5 months a year, they're in this park quite a bit. They seem to not have any desire to consider a different place. I've visited them here several times and the place always seems to be in great shape. There's plenty of visitor parking. The wireless is a little slow, but from what I hear that's normal (I'm sure all of these parks split up their average service meant for a single user amongst anyone connected to wireless). It's not like staying in a woodsy state park, of course, but for being close to the city it seems like a pretty good option. read more

I will never stay at this park! It was first time making a reservation with this park, and I called on the day we needed to stay. After making our reservation, in about 30 minutes, realized it wasn't going to work, so I called back and spoke to the same lady to cancel. She said no problem I will cancel it for you. Never did she tell me there would be no refund for my canceling. If you have a choice don't ever stay there!!!!! There are to many parks that will work with you! So you are here for the expo and it is the best place to stay. Good things. Fairly quiet except for an occasional plane but none at night or early morning.Clean. Good wiFi full hook ups long level sites for big rigs. The bad No restaurants close by. No easy access to shopping. No pool or hot tub. Nobody in office from 12 noon to 1 pm so don't come then. Overall better than most and 4 stars because of location to Expo. read more
