Prior to our decision to sign up with RTA, we had visited with the leader of another academy close by wherein she explained that their school was doing away with forms (katas) and why. We didn't understand til we had a conversation with Mr. Rodgers and went to the first trial class just how important those katas are. So we are super thankful we chose RTA. Every teacher is helpful and thorough and patient and encouraging. There is never shame if a move is forgotten or tried and not done right. There is no pressure to get everything right as fast as you can. They want to make sure you are confident prior to testing. A testament to Mr. Rodgers' ability, teaching method, and stellar results with seriously amazing martial artists is the number of students he has had for over 10 and even 20 years!!! They are faithful because he is faithful - to the art, and to them. Another testament is the number of parents who end up signing up themselves when they see their kids excelling. We had been doing Taekwondo, but my husband really wanted to try Jiu-jitsu, and we were so happy to learn that Leadership does both. There is also some Japanese Akido as well. Our favorite part about Leadership is the emphasis on self-defense rather than on sport. Opportunities to attend tournaments are available, but it is always stressed that we are learning to protect ourselves by having a tool box of knowledge. Master Castle loves what he does and interacting with people of all ages. There are also morning classes that make it easy for those who work late or homeschool. Highly recommend it!

I love being a student at this school, and the great part about training here is that what we learn is not only fun, but it's very practical as well.
