The first year or so going here was fine, as I would have the same dentist. Ever since he moved it's been bad. Estimates and actual bills never matched. Random bills being sent by mail months after appointments when I already paid. Overall, I think I spent far too much money for the work I had done. Seems to me the quality of care went down the longer I went here. There are various dentists and hygienists now so it's hard to build a rapport with one. Scheduling department seems to be out of wack as well. I had to cancel an appointment 48 hours in advance and got lectured about them needing more time, only for their rescheduled appointment to be cancelled last minute on their end due to staffing issues. Last cleaning the hygienist told me that I had a Crack in the tooth next to the crown her & my Dentist put on. Now the tooth that she worked on for my crown has a huge hole in it. I feel as if she should've fixed it when I was there or at least told me to come back & have it taken care of! Plus I really think that she was the 1 that originally cracked it since it's right next to the tooth that she'd worked on for the crown! read more

I don't know what it is with this new team, but it's not good. I've been coming here for about 5-6 years, and I had very few complaints. Before, if I ever had issues with my teeth, they were very kind to me and explained things to me in ways I understood. I always walked out without pain and was out quickly. Today, I was in the chair for an hour and a half for just routine cleaning and left in pain. The new hygienist I had today kept turning away to look for a different tool or would talk to other staff to help the hygienist find something and when they turned away, they left tools hanging in my mouth. It was uncomfortable to have tools left in my mouth while I sit there, and it unprofessional and disorganized. I've always been told I have good teeth and gums, today there were rude comments made to me and "behind my back" (when I was sitting right there) to another staff member in the room, and it felt like I apparently am doing everything wrong with taking care of my mouth. There were also several comments made about how I wasn't able to come in for a year as opposed to the normal 6 months. I am a student, and I moved this summer, I did not have the chance. I made this clear yet I still felt judged for it, despite that I still take very good care of my mouth. At least my teeth are clean (hopefully), I guess. The receptionist was also passive aggressive with me when I said there was a possibility I'd have to cancel a future appointment - I am a student who is not here all the time so I wasn't 100% sure of my travel schedule. Also, they like to ask you to be there early to check in, there was nobody at the desk for 5 minutes when I got there. I walked out red in the face from being so frustrated. At least I got free toothpaste. I have future appointments and will be canceling them. I will be finding another dentist. read more

I wanted to add to my previous review. When my son and I arrived for our appointment, we had a different hygienist. Jane had been our hygienist for years, yet this new hygienist lectured me for 20 minutes or so on how bad Jane was, and she was fired. She claimed all of the previous staff were bad. Yet my son's teeth and mine have had no cavities, our gums don't bleed, and we have no pain. There are all new people there and our experience was the worst I've had in my life. I'm 72 years old!! She didn't even look at my son's teeth, I guess because he's handicapped. The previous staff loved him and always took good care of us. I'm so disappointed in these new people and hope no one goes to them. Plus Dr. Rick is the only one still there and she was our new dentist before. But I guess she's bad too for not taking care of our teeth. At no time, did Dr. Rick say we needed a deep cleaning. When I asked why didn't Dr. Rick tell us we needed a deep cleaning, the hygienist said the dentist doesn't tell us those things. What??!! Then why have a dentist look at your teeth, when the hygienist is done cleaning!! They wanted us to have a deep cleaning and wouldn't clean our teeth. I will not have a deep cleaning. Everyone I know that has had that done, got worse and lost their teeth. Our teeth and gums are fine, but not according to these new people! I'm not sure what their motive was to condemn Jane and our years of previous care by the old staff but very unprofessional! It makes me very sad! I wish I knew where Jane went. She was so caring and the best, regardless of what this new hygienist said. read more

Had an appointment for deep cleaning today and the experience was great. I usually feel anxious with dental appointments but the hygienist Tammy made it less anxious because she's great with patient care, takes her time and makes sure you're satisfied. I will be looking for a new dentist after several bad experiences here. My dental hygienist shamed and lectured me because a year passed between my visits instead of 6 months. I don't appreciate being lectured or shamed when I do finally have time to come in for a cleaning. I'm an adult and take very good care of my teeth and have zero cavities or dental issues. Additionally, if I schedule an appointment AND confirm it online the week before, why do they also need me to call the office and confirm? They called me 3 times in a row while I was teaching a class and could not answer my phone, and then cancelled my appointment because I was busy teaching and couldn't call them back that day before they closed, EARLY. Why would you cancel an appointment that I made and confirmed online a few days before? This makes no sense to me. They try to make me take new X-rays every time I go in and can never actually confirm whether they will be covered by my insurance, so during my whole appointment I am anxious about having some huge unnecessary bill. They pushed fluoride last time and charged me for it (I assumed this would be covered and it was not). I feel like they are taking advantage of people for money, they are rude, and their scheduling is absurd. read more

I have been a patient with Columbine Dental for approximately 20 years. Dr. Hobbs was a great dentist. Unfortunately when he and his partner retired, they were purchased by another company. I have always had a great review until now. I had an accident and was in the hospital with surgery and called the office to advise I could not make the appointment. The office never called me however I did receive emails to re-schedule. When I called to set an appointment, the response I received was that I had MULTIPLE missed appointments, which is not true. I went in for a cleaning. I have dental anxiety and Tammy was wonderful! She helped me relax and did a great job with my cleaning. Very attentive and thorough. I had some pressure in my cheek and thought it was just from my allergies. Dr. Aleman looked at my X-rays and found an infection! I had no idea! He was great with explaining everything and answered all my questions. Overall best dental office I've been to. I will be returning and bringing my family. read more

As a very longtime client (over 30 years), our family is dropping Columbine Dental. I have come to feel that, although I have no complaints about the dental care itself, I think their billing is quite unfair. The bills are difficult to decipher, and, I have noticed a strong tendency to upsell products and procedures. Quite a number of times we were charged for things/procedures that we were not told about in advance. Certain procedures that I remember as being free or covered by insurance under our old dentist are now not free or labeled in a different way. Everything is an "extra" it seems. Also, we do not feel valued as customers who have already spend many thousands (my husband had several implants done there). .And so, reluctantly, we are changing dentists. Approximately 3 years ago, the original dentists at Columbine Dental retired. Now the practice is owned by two highly competent young dentists, Dr. Isael Aleman and Dr. Annie Westermeier. I have had extensive dental work done by both of them. This includes an implant, two crowns and three fillings. They do a great job. They are extremely gentle in their prep work seeing that you are very comfortable. Because of their recent education and experience they know all of the latest technology, methods, equipment and materials. The quality of their work is outstanding. If you are going to the dentist, why not go to the best. read more

This office has no consideration for people's time or interest if you have had a poor experience. I had an appointment but showed up to find out the dentist were both gone. I was told I could reschedule. Then I was charged for an exam that I questioned because the only thing different the hygienist did was look at my tongue and brush her fingers over my neck. She described her own attitude as "blunt" I describe it as rude. I tried to get ahold of the office manager. I had to call 5 times to actually speak to her. The 5th I was told she was out of the office but when I said I would write a review she was miraculously available within the hour. she was rude, disrespectful and didn't care about my experience, just said they follow ADA guidelines. At the end of the conversation she said she thought maybe their practice was not a good fit. This type of attitude is not good customer service, I told her I was not trying to get out of paying but was looking for answers. I also found out that they had overcharged me and instead of letting me know they just put a credit on my account. I will not be going back. read more

After seeing Nail M. and Joni B.'s reviews, I decided to do this as well since I had very similar experiences so this does sound like a wide spread problem now. Signs were there since the new dentists took over. All old hygienists were gone and the new ones were ok until they started telling my wife and I that we both needed deep cleanings. Out of pockets costs were in the hundreds. We both went through with it. Mine charge was even higher since they dropped the better Delta Dental plan so the co-pay went up for me. I have had several calls with the front desk too trying to get some answers to our bills since I can't square them between what we paid for services and what Delta paid on our claims. I could never get a straight answer. During the last regular scheduled cleaning, my wife was charged extra fees (regular cleaning was always 100% covered until now) because the hygienist said she's now a patient with a special status because she's had the deep cleaning so the regular cleaning even has out of pocket cost now and we are pretty much stuck with that "special patient status". That was the last draw for us. We have all moved on to a new practice. What a shame! We have been with this practice for well over 15 years and felt like we were just taken advantage of for the last few months. read more

Customer service is poor at best. The hygienist (new because the one I had been seeing quit because of the new owners) said I needed a deep cleaning on 3 of 4 sides of my mouth. I am a self-pay as they know and asked to simply get a regular cleaning as I come in every 4 months. I was told that if I don't schedule for what was diagnosed then I would not be able to be seen. Last time I checked I was paying them?? My bad for being a good paying customer. Long review short, new owners and new policies are draconian, sorry I ever spent a dollar with the new owners. A shame because the old owners specifically Dr. Hobbs were amazing. DO NOT USE THIS DENTIST. Feels like extortion to get my teeth cleaned. read more

I have been going back and forth with a bill since June 2021. Dr. Cody Jorgenson said I needed a crown and was told by the staff that my expense would be $458 with my insurance. I paid the $458 right away and had the procedure done. Now nine months later I am being billed another $522 since my insurance company said it was an unnecessary procedure. I have stopped by the office several times and called and no one seems to want to help me. I was a customer there for 20 years and never had this kind of experience with the previous dentists. My insurance company said that another procedure could of been done. I would recommend that you double check if the procedure recommended is actually needed and if it is actually covered since you will not get any help from the office. They send bills but will not assist you in any way in making things right. I have requested help and that they look into what I have already paid and the quotes I was given before I ever had the procedure. read more
