I'm blessed enough to have wonderful dental coverage through my job, so when my primary provider…read moretold me that I needed to have my root canal from 5 years ago retreated I wasn't totally bummed. My previous root canal was performed in south jersey by a lovely dentist whose name escapes me now, of course. I could only hope that the referral I received from my primary would be to an equally as wonderful specialist. Dr. Goldberg faaaaaar exceeded my hopes! The office located in a commercial strip near the sesame place campus. I arrive for a 7:45a appointment at 7:30a. I entered the buildings main door and the office was immediately to my left. It was closed! Lights out! Seeing as this was my first experience at this location, I was immediately disheartened...I can't imagine (even after exceptional service) that it's the best practice to show up at the same time as your first appointment. This was exactly what happened. I watched two women enter the office from the side entrance (which is only a few panes down from the main entrance so I watched them come in from my car). I waited a moment and then tried again; this time the door was open. I entered and heard the audible doorbell announcing me. There was no one at the reception desk then and no one peaked out for about 5 minutes. Once someone did peak out it was all smooth sailing! Filled out a short form (standard stuff) and soon after I was taken to my seat and recieved an XRay from the dental assistant (hygienist?) When Dr Goldberg came in it was like someone turning on a bright light ... and then pouring espresso on it lol. He was loud and vibrant, shook my hand and immediately told a terrible joke haha. He'd remind you of an uncle (the kind that marries your aunt, not your mothers brother kind) that sneaks you candy and gives you a few bucks when your parents tell him your on punishment. I absolutely loved his personality and I'm CRABBY in the morning - remember it's about 830a at this point and I hadn't had coffee because I was coming to the dentist. He requested a second X-ray, 3D this time, to get a feel for any bone loss and depth of infection. The assistant walked me to another room, covered me in the metal bib, demonstrated the necessary pose and in a few minutes I was back to the procedure room. Dr Goldberg went over each image with me, explaining how the image was produced and pointing out the subtle lights and shadows that indicated normal and problem issues. When he confirmed that the recommendation for root canal retreat was the best course of action (after explaining the alternatives) I was ready to go! Side note// this is my second root canal on the same problem tooth. Don't believe the hype about root canals being painful. I felt NOTHING either time and even now, I've taken only inbuprofen for moderate ache (not ouch). He was pleased that I had agreed to have the root canal performed right then. I was pleased that he was willing to do it (and not reschedule for later on). The entire procedure lasted maybe 30 minutes and he Dr Goldberg sang OUTLOUD - like in the shower style - the entire time. He replaced my temp crown and complimented my primary dentist on always creating nice temp crowns :) i left with a Rx for antibiotics for a week and an appointment for a followup two weeks later. And a pen from the pen cup - I've gotten better pens from other dentists but I won't take away any points from Doc Goldberg, he probably left that up to a staffer. Anyway, I'm glad I got over my initial grievance because Dr Goldberg was totally worth it. I don't know about the Philadelphia office of the same name, but if they don't have a Doctor Goldberg I won't make any plans to get to know them.

Subject: Feedback on Recent Root Canal Experience at South Jersey Endodontics…read more Dear South Jersey Endodontics Team, I recently experienced a severe toothache due to an infection in tooth #30 and visited my DMO-preferred dentist, Dr. Samir Patel, for advice. Although the tooth had no prior symptoms of infection, he recommended that I see an endodontist at South Jersey Endodontics. Having had a previous root canal procedure done by Dr. Steven Ryu with an excellent, pain-free experience, I requested to see him again. However, I was informed that he was unavailable, and instead, I was scheduled with Dr. Divya Trikannad, whom I had not worked with before. Upon my visit, an X-ray was taken, followed by a recommendation for a 360° CT scan, which I was told would provide better clarity for the procedure. I was informed that this scan was not covered by insurance and would cost $300 out-of-pocket. Although I agreed to proceed, I had never been required to undergo this scan in my past root canal treatments. Unfortunately, despite this additional imaging, my experience during and after the procedure was extremely painful, to the point where I had to take three days off from work to recover. I genuinely question the necessity of the 360° CT scan, as it did not seem to contribute to a smoother or less painful procedure. In my opinion, this additional step felt more like an unnecessary cost rather than a true benefit to patient care. Ultimately, I ended up paying more than what my insurance covered, and the experience did not meet my expectations. I sincerely urge your team to avoid imposing unwarranted procedures on patients, especially when experienced professionals in your practice have successfully handled similar cases without them in the past. Finally, I understand that reviews reflect individual experiences, and expectations can vary from person to person. It's often challenging to judge a service or practitioner based on a single review, as a collective opinion is usually more informative. My intention here is not to defame the practitioner or the group that provided my treatment, but rather to share my personal experience, which was significantly different from my previous root canal procedures--both with this group and elsewhere. Unfortunately, this particular incident severely impacted me during and after the procedure, unlike any I've had before. I encourage anyone reading my review to consider it as part of a broader perspective and to make informed decisions based on multiple viewpoints. Best regards, Kannan Varadachari

I chose this clinic only because they had the earliest available appointment. At first, the nurse was kind and professional and took X-rays. However, when the dentist Asad Sadiq came in and reviewed the X-rays, the experience became very disappointing. He began working on a different tooth that I never complained about. I clearly explained which teeth were hurting and asked him to work on those. At one point, he asked me when the pain was at its worst, and I told him that it increases when I eat or drink. His response was shockingly unprofessional--he said, "Then don't eat or drink, just fast." After he finished, I asked which tooth he had worked on, and he replied, "the wrong one." I was shocked by this response and asked why he hadn't explained anything to me beforehand. Instead of apologizing or clarifying, he became very rude and aggressive, called me a liar, and accused me of lying about what was discussed. I calmly asked him to speak respectfully, but he continued with the same rude attitude until I raised my voice. Eventually, the nurses came in and asked me to leave the clinic. In the end, the teeth that were actually causing me pain were never treated, and he worked on a tooth that wasn't bothering me at all. This was a very unprofessional and upsetting experience, and I would not recommend this dentist based on how I was treated and how poorly the situation was handled.

I was both miserable and scared. Plus, getting ready to go on vacation for a family wedding to Europe in a few days, so I needed to resolve the issue pronto! Called nearest place to home that was in my dental plan, requesting an emergency appt. They got me in same day. The entire experience went really well, from first walking in and dealing with front office staff to get me checked in and completing my forms and proof of insurance info, to the dental assistant getting me prepped and doing x-rays. She was the most pleasant person ever at any dental or medical office I've ever been to in my lifetime to date. And very efficient and extremely knowledgeable and great at her job. She was genuinely compassionate and made me feel very comfortable and even got me to laugh a few times throughout that misery I was going through. Then the doc came in (Dr. Sadiq) and said I needed a root canal, which I totally expected with the pain and swelling I had. He immediately got to work and relieved me of my pain. The actual root canal and soreness after, was mild in comparison to how I felt prior to walking into the office. He prescribed me mild pain killers, but I didn't need to take them. He promised me the swelling would go away and it did completely within 48 hours. I feel zero pain now and feel back to normal. Still need to go back to complete the next step of the root canal process, but said I would be perfectly fine to wait until I return from my vacation and he put in a temporary filling until then. I am very grateful to everyone that works there for their genuine care and concern and getting me in the same day. I had read some of the bad reviews when I first looked it up, and was a bit hesitant to initially go there ... very happy I did! I 100% had a wonderful experience and I've always been chicken to go to any dentist, even for a cleaning. I honestly can't understand the bad reviews at all. I highly recommend this place!
